garak were one o' our favorite star trek characters... period. bashir? not so much. the guy graduates top 2 from one o' the best (best?) med schools... and not just best med school on earth neither. bashir has brain big as liberty bell and while a bit naive, he is looking for adventure on the frontier o' federation space, yes? is much development opportunity with such a character. heck, coulda' gone ransom stoddard with him, but instead they makes him a sci-fi cliché. we did like garak. Amen (and the same is true for WoW). well, you likely could balance pve and pvp much better, but the stealth classes is extreme problematic. as over-the-top as some o' the pre 3.0 pvp builds were (smash jugg and bubbles sage) they were viable in pve and would eventual benefit from obvious needed tweaks to limit their excessive pvp dominance. but stealth? stealth is a major advantage in pvp. to balance the power o' stealth v. non stealth classes, one needs obvious reduce overall damage potential o' the shadows and agents, yes? our biggest obstacle to finishing h2s at the moment is that on harbinger, the mob corpses in non instance h2 areas is not disappearing. the info bottleneck is causing serious ability lag on multiple planets. enemies would not actual reveal until 2-3 seconds after they attacked. companions would disappear for a similar amount o' time. had to quit a heroics run over the weekend as content became unplayable. am also gonna note that the respawn time for "mutations" on taris for pub side is prohibitive. 5 minutes? get five or more folks doing at same time? as an aside, removal o' the belsavis bonus dailies is saddening 'cause, as we noted earlier in this thread, they provided excellent influence for pre kotfe companions. am also disappointed that savage skies is no longer daily, but we got so many 65s at this point that it don't matter-- am unable to get all our 65s to do complete heroic runs for the week. yeah, savage skies daily were clear a bug, but we do kinda miss it. another complete aside, am suspecting that a few classes is gonna need adjustments. vigilance guardian should not be competing with plasmatech for best aoe dps. tactics vanguards are arguably op. am gonna need play around a bit more, but both shadow dps specs seem inexplicable weak in pve. gunslingers and marksman is continuing to be excellent, but perhaps too good compared to most other classes other than tactics vanguard. am kinda conflicted about sentinels/marauders. we are back to situation where watchman is clear best pve spec for sentinels. watchman likely needed a boost, but am not in favor of clear win specs. haven't had much time to play our commandos/mercs, so can't comment on those. have only healed sage/sorc, and our tanking has been nothing other than heroics and single-player stuff... and pvp. am gonna say that for pvp, the shift towards defense has hurt all tanks a bit. regardless, there is some changes needed. HA! Good Fun! -
hmmm am not sure the game against the imploding eagles should convince you that winston were the better choice. statistically, winston and mariotta is hardly having fantastic years, but mariotta has a slight edge. ... also, the tb organization is gonna be holding its collective breath for at least a couple o' years hoping that winston's off-the-field antics at fsu do not reemerge in tampa. steal crab legs and make stoopid tweets were almost comical, but the 10k damage to an apartment building resulting from a bb gun battle and the rape allegations (allegations that the university and local cops made difficult to investigate) is stuff that we have difficulty writing off as collegian immaturity. get through at least one off-season w/o incident before you start to breathe easier. oh, and rookie seasons for qbs are extreme misleading. is more than a few rookie qbs who has had scintillating freshman nfl campaigns followed by forgettable careers. converse, some all-time greats has had poor introductions to the nfl. we would need wait til end of sophomore campaign to make any kinda comparison 'tween mariotta and winston and have confidence in doing so. HA! Good Fun!

dunno, but bio kinda backed themselves into the corner by stating that all h2s should be soloable and that folks should respond following 4.02 if a particular h2 were not... not soloable. we took a newish vigilance guardian in 192 and 208 gear through h2 star fortress with a 49 influence comp. now admittedly we likely chose a tough scenario as guardians is melee, got no cc and vigilance is now an aoe spec, but we got destroyed fighting the champs. sure our influence rank with alliance recruiters were non existent, so no specialist items, but had (have) high presence, am knowing what we are doing... particularly on a guardian. am also gonna note that a couple h2s on various planets (but particularly makeb) were indeed soloable for our fresh 65 jedi knight, but they were not easy. am certain that a couple o' h2s would not be soloable for more than a few folks with less presence and experience. we didn't have same dying problem with a tanky guardian, but the sf missions take a considerable amount o' time on a tank when comp is set to heals. HA! Good Fun! -
I loved that flick. It was such a positive, hopeful experience. am a huge fan o' walter mitty. who wouldn't like a movie with danny kaye and boris karloff? virgina mayo were one o' our favorite actresses during the 40s and she played the damsel not in distress perfect in mitty. wait, you aren't talking 'bout the horrible stiller remake, are you? HA! Good Fun!

as wacky as it sounds, we faced this exact problem a couple christmases ago. like so many folks nowadays, our lady didn't wear a watch and our attempts to sneak a peek at her jewelry box (no double entendre intended) were comical failures. ok. keep in mind that we ain't actual recommending this as an option, but we got so frustrated trying to get our current girlfriend's wrist measurement that we came up with a ridiculous scam. girlfriend shows up at our home and sees us measuring our ankle with a piece o' string and a tape-measure. she were curious and asked us what the heck we were doing. natural. so we tell her that a johns hopkins study observed a correlation between wrist v. ankle diameter and prevalence o' high blood pressure. am not sure if we claimed greater difference between wrist and ankle were better or not. am pretty sure we came up with imaginary numbers for pacific islanders and inuit peoples as 'posed to europeans and other ethnic groups. utter nonsense, but we sold it well. so am fumbling with this string measuring wrist and ankle and we ask if we can measure her ankle and wrist. now admitted, we turned it into a nc-17 measuring exercise, so she likely thought that were our goal from the start, but we got her wrist measurement... and a bit more. appealed to her natural curiosity-- medical and prurient. again, am not suggesting going this route as it were, in retrospect, asinine... but it worked. HA! Good Fun!

with how frequent we has seen doctors disagree 'bout a diagnosis or simple don't know what is causing a patient to suffer, we came to the conclusion a Long time ago that medicine is as much art as science. good luck. hopeful it were one o' those inexplicable aberrations that never repeats.

I second this, and since my grandpa grew and sold some heavy **** when he was alive, I've seen a lot of them. They say weed doesn't affect you but I've seen dozens transform over a longer period of time from bright people into bums whose slow brain processes you can literally see grinding behind their eyes as they struggle to get through forming a sentence. Anecdotal experience, but experience none the less, and that experience is that too much weed makes you a boring idiot. Many great famous songs and even albums have been created by musicians on acid and/or coke, not to mention stage performance with the latter drug. Rod steward for example consumed so much coke he had to stuff it into pills and take it anally because his nose was constantly bleeding, and he was high as kite when he wrote many of his songs. But thats coke and acid, on the other hand I had a classmate who turned himself into vegetable with weed. In a matter of three years his health, especially his mental health, degraded like crazy. Last time I saw him he completed his transformation into a slow witted, sickly thin and confused guy. So much for one of the healthiest drugs. As for myself, I can't stand any drugs, I don't even like alcohol, I want to be in control of myself all the time. I feel like I'm not myself when I'm drugged / intoxicated and that feeling is absolutely awful. and some folks insist that they drive better while drunk or high. am recalling a bob dylan concert we attended a longish time ago. he came out on stage and it were clear the moment he started to play that he were drunk... or having a stroke. crowd got angry and started heckling. there were less than two minutes of inebriated fumbling by dylan before he gives the crowd a hearty "%#$@ You!" saluted the audience with the bird and then exited the stage. am betting he thought he were doing just fine. is some folks so talented that they can play music drunk? probably. most amateurs likely don't have the ear to realize that a musician is flubbing unless it is blatant obvious. also, am recalling a few rockers, such as eddie van halen, who agreed that once they got clean, they were far more proficient at their craft. 'course those folks typical end up succumbing to their addiction and then argue that they is better than ever. *shrug* sonny jurgensen, 'ccording to more than a few sources, played football as an nfl quarterback whilst frequent under the influence o' alcohol. is hard to imagine. as for writing songs or poetry, am s'posing that an altered state can result in inspiration. is not the same as being "smarter and more focused," 'least not in a conventional sense. HA! Good Fun!

The current attribute system has exactly the same layout as the one Matt and I proposed in October last year. I don't recall making any specific suggestion to implement hard counters because I know that it would have been a futile effort. I was against XP for traps and locks (I don't think there's anyone here that will disagree that they were only haphazardly implemented to shut the people up who were complaining about them on the forums) but that's not a big deal at all. How experience is payed out is pretty inconsequential to the things the player does in combat. So I'm not exactly sure about what different direction you're referring to at least with those three examples. You've mentioned this a few times, but you don't list any specific examples (likely due to laziness). Most of the factual corrections were because Obsidian had changed the mechanics of how something worked. the fact that obsidian changed the attribute system after release. does not change your mewling before and after the change. you shoulda' been happy 'bout the change and yet you were still complaining. and we didn't mention trap or lock xp as your concern... you naughty boy. regardless, we gave the links. check any number o' josh response to sensuki... particular near release. too lazy to bother looking? *snort* and yeah, even codex saddled you with the cuck title after your little multi-fora meltdown and dirtbag antics regarding pj's review. belated grats on the well-earned handle. HA! Good Fun! ps deleted material as this is gonna become another thread where sensuki plays the victim *chuckle* and white march 2 becomes a side topic. guy gets double-secret probation at sa for chrissakes. gotta be pretty over-the-top for that. even so, is our fault for answering achilles' query. is on us.
-
I'm not exactly sure what point you're trying to make. if you say so. regardless, you made many suggestions regarding issues such as ability points and hard counters and xp awards, no? is a great many instances in which obsidian went a different direction, and even when the direction obsidian went were a relative minor change, you took... poorly. and so we end up with the sensuki we got today. http://forums.somethingawful.com/query.php?action=posthistory&userid=17931 http://forums.somethingawful.com/query.php?action=posthistory&userid=194732 is actual amusing how many factual corrections o' sensuki posts josh made over at the SA boards. still, is too bad as you were making a real contribution til your pride (or whatever) git hurt. HA! Good Fun!

in our first attempt, we used a newish 65 dps in mostly 208 gear and a heal companion with 49 influence, and got murderlized in star fortress when facing a named champ. kinda funny. HA! Good Fun! ps am not sure we would even try again at this point 'less we had a bubble sage. pps had better luck playing a well-geared tank... as a dps we would need cc and some survivability talents as our 49 and 50 influence healers is less efficacious than they were when they were geared with the purple 192 gear from the yavin weeklies. -

the companion healers have been nerfed hard. am not sure how some folks with lower presence is gonna complete the makeb heroics solo. HA! Good Fun! -
we prefer tb for games with a large dose of squad-based tactical combat, games such as poe. 'course, if one is gonna come up with a short list o' defining qualities o' the ie games, rtwp is gonna be on the list (just as d&d rules inspired hard counters and per kill xp would not be on such a list.) try and make a game that appeals to those folks who played and loved such games as bg2 and iwd without rtwp would be an odd choice even if it would be one Gromnir would prefer in a game with so much squaddie tactical combat. similarly, if espoused goal is to increase options for player customization, we see no need for classes, which is inherently limiting. but to do a kickstarter such as poe and make classless would be a head scratcher o' a choice. obsidian did an admirable job with poe rtwp and classes in spite o' the fact that our ideal crpg would include neither as a feature. HA! Good Fun!

Since I wrote that, the game has also added immunity to afflictions. Since those don't prevent you from inflicting damage, they're obviously not hard counters either. Could be, but I don't remember Josh explaining it quite like that. Not that it matters, as long as they are going back to what was good. but they aren't going back, which were kinda the point, yes? while some has tried to characterize the changes as a return to d&d/ie game hard counters, poe ain't implementing such. is not going back to what was... bad. HA! Good Fun!

the patch notes and developer board clarifications is a bit confusing... or not so much confusing as perplexing. there is a nerf to companion's base healing, but benefits from boosting influence has actual become more significant? is an odd approach to companion healing (and damage) overkill. HA! Good Fun! ps guardian tanks is solid at the moment, but vigilance is a head scratcher. am recalling the ridiculous pvp power o' smash juggs and guardians in an old build. focus guardians and juggs would simple jump into largest concentration o' foes and release the kraken-- aoe stuns and op damage. no fair. smash were predictable nerfed and focus became a meh tree for guardians and juggs. is odd, but is 4.0 vigilance that is making us recollect ye bad olde smash juggs and guardians. vigilance guardian may now be the 4.0 aoe dps grand poobah. vigilance? plasmatech aoe damage were spiffy in 3.0, but 4.0 guardian may be superior as it is so ez to spam your aoe. regardless, is just plain weird that vigilance is the aoe damage dealer for a 4.0 guardian. -
try jogging? am not actual a fan o' jogging, but gonna pass on the recommendation for watching the wizard of oz *wink* with our ex. HA! Good Fun!

marijuana use (even limited use) poses serious dangers for developing brains, and human brains ain't fully matured (typically) until early 20s. that being said, it ain't as if we is morally offended by an adult who chooses to get high. *chickle* had a girlfriend who liked weed. her favorite movie were the wizard of oz, but she had only seen the film while baked. she had seen wizard many times. ... personally, we ain't yet met the person who were smarter and more focused while intoxicated or high. Gromnir ain't too bright and we need every advantage we can get. so, no weed or booze or other recreational drugs for Gromnir... though we will cook with alcohol. oh, and our family history is such that it would be irresponsible o' us to ignore our increased likelihood o' alcohol and drug addiction. have seen addicts struggle to quit. am figuring it takes less willpower to never partake than to overcome addiction. HA! Good Fun!

am not seeing a point o' your "what if?" given we is discussing a mode, there is at least the implication that it is an optional feature. a mode that reduces trash battle numbers personal sounds more appealing than one that reduces overall difficulty o' battles in general (isn't that what the difficulty slider does?), but this ain't an option for Gromnir regardless. doesn't make a difference to us... and why should it? if is an optional feature that will make poe more appealing to folks- folks not Gromnir- then am having difficulty seeing a drawback. *shrug* this ain't like bg or iwd reroll. is amusing how many folks would complain o' bg and iwd ease but forget to mention that they built a custom party o' characters who all had at least 3 ability scores o' 18 and max hps. well golly, what a surprise. optional story mode is not gonna affect how obsidian must need balance the game for Gromnir, so other than the suggestion that storymode is an unnecessary waste o' resources that could be better spent increasing content 'stead o' broadening appeal of the existing game, we see no reasonable argument 'gainst inclusion... and it not make any difference if mode reduces # o' trash battles or difficulty o' such battles. why would it? HA! Good Fun!
-
that sounds like a good option to Gromnir, though is likely we would never use it. have a way so that a player could skip all trash battles? why should inclusion o' such bother Gromnir. am recalling a longtime contributor to these boards who Gromnir frequent disagreed with on mechanics issues. we never could understand what Di found appealing 'bout rolling o' character stats, but one reason she gave for such were that she were not a fan o' the combat in all the ie games. she were also a biggie fan o' jagged alliance, so it ain't as if she hated game combat in general, but she played the ie games for the stories. so, she would roll an uber character and then reduce combat difficulty.... and then she would like the ie games very much. why on earth would an option that makes game more widely accessible annoy Gromnir? oh, and am anticipating late january as we still ain't played part 1 of the xpac... and have been avoiding boards for most part so we can give a full play o' the xpac an untainted and untarnished play. HA! Good Fun!

we can say with certainty that some o' those "12" or "13" for qyzen is wrong, but not in a harmful way. based on the format used in that guide, a few o' those double-digit numbers should be changed to "0." good guide though and we will use when we level our powertech or sniper on harbinger. thanks for sharing.
