  1. lacrosse is big on the east coast and getting increasing popular nationwide. is, ironic, a rich white kid sport in the US. eastern universities field exceptional lacrosse teams and the national championships get considerable tv coverage from espn. has not been an olympic sport for something near 100 years. HA! Good Fun! ps jim brown were arguable the greatest college lacrosse player who just kinda happened to play football. video Huh, the more you know. I have only seen it on the TV, never in real life. there is a world championship for lacrosse every year. am recalling when it were held in england(?) a few years back there were a passport issue for the Iroquois Nationals. ... found it http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/17/sports/17lacrosse.html?_r=0 were a real shame. http://iroquoisnationals.org/ HA! Good Fun!

  3. for most of Gromnir's life, women's sevens rugby leagues in the US has been, we kid you not, touch, not tackle. is sorta like women's lacrosse differing from the men's sport. any number o' colleges and universities gots women rugby as club sports, and they is typical sevens if only 'cause they don't have the numbers to field union. at Cal we had a women's team. were touch at least at one point. "chicks dig scars," were understandable less o' a selling point when attempting to recruit women to a rugby team. although, in the bay area... ... truth-to-tell, sandlot touch rugby is a good workout and kinda fun. with few people, is no scrums... or even kicking. not need more than eight people to field two sides. as much as we like football (real American football) we enjoy touch rugby more than touch football. am getting too old and brittle for tackle sports. gotta be dull to watch touch sports though... almost as bad as women's lacrosse. HA! Good Fun! ps keep in mind that even men's rugby in the US is only a club sport at the collegiate level. no scholarships or such. any decent female athlete is gonna choose something else.
  4. am hoping brie ain't a method actor. alcoholism. coma. a weird pregnancy with a time-lord which we only vague recall and do not wanna look up the details. etc. am knowing that all comic characters that endure for decades is gonna evolve, but the writers has been all over the map with carol danvers. goes from classic damsel in distress existing only to be saved by mar-vel to, even w/o her powers, a test pilot extraordinaire who also happens to be a secret agent who makes james bond seem positive inept by comparison. am thinking sometimes the comic writers try too hard to make it painful obvious that their female heroine is a strong woman, and end up with a character that is... cartoonish. 'course once you write yourself over-the-top powerful character, you gotta give her a weakness to humanize her, and so we get the marvelous alcoholism that comes and goes depending on the writer's whims. am not near the comic fan that some folks 'round these parts is, so perhaps we is missing something 'bout ms. marvel/captain marvel. marvel universe's power girl pinup? am actual hopeful that brie doesn't do too much r&d. am thinking that this is one o' those opportunities where a movie iteration has a chance to much improve the print version o' a character. HA! Good Fun!
  5. the font? ... font? HA! Good Fun!
  6. what about the dragons that wear captain hats? tennille divorced daryl "captain" dragon in 2014. the divorce came as a surprise to dragon who were diagnosed with neurological disorder a few years earlier. love did not keep them together. made us actual feel bad for a dragon. HA! Good Fun! ps we kinda wish our last name were dragon.
  7. when we imagine spencer, we always think o' the one o' those comically english officers from ww2 movies. the guys with the pencil thin mustache. pale to the point o' looking sickly. perhaps a bit mousy but impeccably dressed. will be the one officer trying to advise against ________ and he ends up being right in spite of the fact everybody ignored him. spencer coggins digglesworth... or somesuch. always spencer though. we can actual think o' more than a handful o' spencers beyond tracy. is a few american football players (living and dead) who is spencers, and we were an acquaintance o' a norcal fed judge by name on spencer. 'course there were the spencer davis group o' early steve winwood fame. don't know spencer davis group? yes you do. HA! Good Fun!
  8. is not all that complicated in this instance. no ruling. iran were seeking $10 billion via arbitration at the hague. the curious timed settlement 'tween US and iran would send $1.7 billion to iran. $400 million were first payment o' the settlement... which obama claimed had nothing whatsoever to do with the nuke deal or the prisoner release. HA! Good Fun!
  9. alien is a horror film that is light on science, but we get your meaning... sorta. we has always maintained that the genre labels o' scifi and fantasy were conjured up by pulp magazine editors in the early/mid 20th century and that the basis for such a distinction were commercial. john carter were scifi 'cause were set on mars and 'cause there were aliens and ray guns n' stuff. tolkien's work were fantasy 'cause it had wizards and dragons. labels give fans a general notion o' content between covers o' the book or 'zine. tolkien would claim that he were creating myth and not fantasy. edgar rice burroughs woulda' rolled eyes at folks quibbling over the inanity o' labeling when the real question worthy o' debate would be why he got paid so little to inspire so many. all fiction is the result o' the author attempting to give shape to the "fictive dream." the labels is having commercial value, but we not see much point in trying to distinguish the genres. “i have never listened to anyone who criticized my taste in space travel, sideshows or gorillas. when this occurs, i pack up my dinosaurs and leave the room.”- ray bradbury HA! Good Fun!
  10. manifested will likely burst a blood vessel if you don't at least mention star wars. HA! Good Fun! ps am much surprised that edge of tomorrow didn't do better at the box office. we don't much like tom cruise, and we realize that the premise is groundhog day as re-imagined in some kinda japanese novel (maybe?) but it is one o' our recent favorite sci-fi/adventure films.
  11. maybe stop by for the lemonade event on august 20, but am admitting that red robin is not our usual burger destination. either dad's kitchen for an excellent 1/2 bleu cheese burger http://ilovedadskitchen.com/ or the culinerdy cruzer for a "Dammit Jim!" and a side of brussel sprouts. http://www.nerdytruck.com/menu.html HA! Good Fun!
  12. dunno. always expected manifested to be, y'know, taller. HA! Good Fun!
  13. be sure to fill-out one o' those customer service surveys. reason for choosing sandals: fatigue. well, enjoy a red stripe... or two. no doubt shady is already a beautiful man, but... HA! Good Fun!
  14. the captain? am admitting that we still give captain america an edge over the new captain marvel... oldie marvel marvel is actually mar-vel in our book. even so, when ranking top three captains, they is as follows. 3) the captain o' captain and tenille. the former beach boys keyboardist deserves #3 spot if only 'cause leonard nimoy were a guest on the captain and tenille show. has captain marvel ever worked with spock? no? 2) derek "the captain" jeter married hannah davis 1) captain caveman speaks for itself. brie should be so lucky as to eventual earn consideration 'mongst such luminaries. HA! Good Fun!
  15. am not thinking anybody would/should be concerned if a terrorist got his hands on such a thing. what you don't see in the picture is the power source for the gun. terrorist "breaks" into a dmv office with his mini-mini gun, dragging behind him a small trash can filled with ammo. immediately recognizes a problem, so joins the queue and waits patiently at the concierge desk after which he is directed to window number 5 as his query fits into the miscellaneous category. 45 minutes elapse and our terrorist, now getting impatient enough to kill everybody in the building.... oh , right. anyways, terrorist eventually makes it to ms. babich at window 5, a rather stout woman o' indeterminate years with a fondness for fig newtons. "license number and the nature of your problem," says ms. babich in a voice that makes the terrorist need suppress a giggle as the dmv employee sounds exactly like lunch lady doris from the simpsons tv show. "uhm, well you see, as it just so happens, i do need to register my 97 hyundai elantra, but i left all my pertinent vehicle information on my laptop and my battery is dead. if you could direct me to an available wall outlet," our terrorist pulls the rather formidable power cord from his backpack," i could retrieve my necessary vehicle information." etc. why not use a SAW instead? am suspecting that the m249 is gonna be easier to procure than the mini w/o all the power supply problems to be considering. HA! Good Fun!
  16. "As a result, equity must be applied to a certain extent - and unfortunately for some - on a case by case basis." am not gonna out anybody, but am disappointed to hear that old scheme is still in place. if you got a rule that "for some" is applied different than for others, then you ain't actual applying the rule equitably. *shrug* am sensing another dead end, and this thread ain't the appropriate venue regardless. disappointed. HA! Good Fun!
  17. curious: is the old policy that board rules is applied ad hoc and inequitable the norm or simple a quirk o' the mod with whom we conversed? HA! Good Fun!
  18. a committee of fellow moderators. am also suspecting that not all complaints of individual moderators actual go to committee. if bob complains 'bout finovar to finovar, is up to finovar to bring that complaint to the review committee, yes? *shrug* is extreme rare Gromnir has an issue with a moderator which results in a complaint. one time we "complained" public 'bout a mod by expressing surprise at his/her being recent chosen to mod. the mod had recent been involved in a apoplectic confrontation with our self and the confrontation had shocked us at the time as we were, surprisingly, not being the least bit confrontational our self at the time. were some general anti-american rhetoric from the new mod and other nonsense. the new mod apologized retroactive for the post, but am doubtful the issue went to committee. another one o' our infrequent complaints were 'bout treatment of karzak by a mod, but our complaint were limited to pm 'tween the mod and our self. mod admitted the specific karzak behavior that elicited censure would not have been a problem if posted by many other posters, but given the mod's knowledge and past dealings with karzak, he decided to take action. we observed that application o' the board rules in such an ad hoc, personal and inequitable manner rendered the board rules meaningless. rules is different for Gromnir than for bruce? am having a hard time believing our "complaint" were reviewed by committee. we complained in a pm. the mod discussed briefly. the mod dismissed our concerns. the end. no doubt gifted can see the inherent flaw in the system that requires the mod to bring the complaint to committee, yes? *shrug* where does one direct complaints of mods to be ensuring they go to committee? am asking for future reference. am doubting an obsidian administrator goes through all moderator posts and pms to ensure that complaints is being proper routed to committee. HA! Good Fun! ps yes, Gromnir actual complained to moderators regarding karzak being treated unfair by mods. our defense o' karzak alone shoulda' given the mod in question pause.
  19. every Presidential candidate that runs for the office releases tax returns. it is part o' the public's vetting process of candidates. it is not a Constitutional requirement. it is singular useful. for a candidate with no record o' political held office who bases his fitness for the Presidency on his business success, one can argue that tax returns would be essential. every Presidential candidate provides. providing is done bipartisan. trump's excuse for not providing is a non-sequitur. he is being audited? so what? what difference does that make? equal relevant response would be, "i like pie." is not as if providing the returns to the public that he has already turned over to the irs will have any impact on his audit. similarly, pointing out that you want clinton to release speech transcripts should not in anyway diminish the burden 'pon trump to release transcripts. are you people five-year-olds? bobby didn't clean his room so, that means jimmy ain't gonna brush his teeth? asinine reasoning for jimmy and those in this thread. Presidential candidates provide tax returns. the information from tax returns is useful-- nobody denies that point. trump has no relevant excuse as to why he won't provide. so, two words: tax returns. but why won't hillary ______? *snort* be a good boy and brush your freaking teeth. ridiculous. HA! Good Fun! ps "people have got to know whether or not their president is a crook. well, I am not a crook." that quote from nixon were not related to watergate. were instead the rationale for nixon providing the irs with a small mountain o' information to convince 'em that he weren't playing fast and loose with charitable donations. is also one reason why every candidate running for the office o' President provides tax returns.
  20. tax returns. ... tax returns. tax returns. tax returns. any question from or regarding trump should get a two word response: tax returns. HA! Good Fun!
  21. tax returns HA! Good Fun!
  22. not a great version o' "in the pines." is one o' our only criticisms thus far, which is a good sign. HA! Good Fun!
  23. for clinton, "meh" might have been the goal. no new scandal. the only real hurdle to victory for her is a new scandal being revealed 'tween now and the election. clinton's lead has diminished, but it is still substantial, and we suspect clinton has thrown-in-the-towel on the notion o' being swept into office with an overwhelming mandate from the people. "just win baby!" to win, clinton needs to avoid another scandal. tim kaine is a swing state choice and he is... inoffensive. kaine choice is gonna alienate more than a few sanders supporters and more liberal democrats, but those folks won't be choosing trump over clinton. HA! Good Fun! ps if something does go wrong related to kaine, his name alone makes for great headlines. "mark of kaine" stuff writes itself.
  24. am thinking you can blame on the lawyers, and the Constitution. would be more appropriate for individual States to make municipalities and counties report. 'course that is gonna require 50 individual States to create legislation many will spin as "anti-cop." fed law? is kinda a tougher row to hoe? might ask enoch how he would pen such legislation. fed can encourage individual States to comply with fed guidelines by making fed dollars contingent 'pon... whatever. if fed got a "general welfare" goal, the feds can put limit on fed dollars to encourage State compliance. 'course this would ultimately be requiring State action. point is getting all those individual municipalities and counties to report is a bit more complex than it seems to be on its face. ... am thinking it is difficult, particularly for non-americans, to understand just how limited is the fed government in the USA. 'course so many o' the conspiracies that rely on the Evuhl Government also fall apart when one realizes that our fed is far more limited than is similar institutions 'round the globe. perceive some kinda widespread government conspiracy related to American cops ignores that there is no such thing as American cops. is a map o' the municipalities in st. louis, missouri... as a complete random example. many o' those municipalities got their own police. there is also gonna be State police, county police, and in places such as california, a freaking highway police. is disorganized. is intended to be disorganized. the lack o' organization is 'posed to make our police, the folks most likely to be using force on our person, more accountable to the people being policed, rather than accountable to jefferson city, missouri or washington dc. makes sense. makes the conspiracies ludicrous. 'course such disorganization also makes for lack o' oversight. s'posed more accountable to local, by definition makes 'em less accountable to state and fed but local municipalities frequent ain't up to the task o' policing the police. changes is needed, but is a more complex issue than it first appears. HA! Good Fun!
  25. oddly enough, the fact the victim didn't want medical care would bother Gromnir more than elliot's claims and potential illegal recordings o' phone conversations. if you were genuine assaulted, then why not go to hospital to get the injury documented? gonna need more info. 'course the medical care issue is one o' the few situations where our sexism may be shining through. men who don't seek medical aid when questioned by cops we will sometimes supply a machismo excuse. tough guy gets his nose broken in a one-sided fight and in front o' a crowd o' people (or his girlfriend) he stoopid refuses medical treatment. we get it. whereas for a woman we attach a more sinister motive? bad Gromnir. and yeah, we saw the dennis green news. will always recall his post bears game meltdown. fantastic tv. oh well. he will be missed by many. HA! Good Fun!
