  1. gotta pay closer attention to dates. video is posted 2014. the following is an article from 2016. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/benghazi-conspiracy-theorists-turn-on-trey-gowdy/2016/06/29/7c513ed4-3e44-11e6-80bc-d06711fd2125_story.html?utm_term=.93a2476ee55e HA! Good Fun!
  2. to be fair, the women's high jump were a train wreck. four women made 1.97. then all four failed to make 2.0. really? you got each woman making 3 attempts at 2.0 and failing. twelve attempts. nobody expected that gold would be won at 1.97. gold, silver and bronze were all the result o' a 1.97 jump. folks in booth musta been shocked. HA! Good Fun!
  3. our migraines is actual under control and we don't take opioids to treat. migraines (with aura) is a different beast from what most folks think o' as migraine, and aspirin is 'bout as effective as pez candy for treating. 'course opiates is no more effective than aspirin in our experience. a LONG time ago (+25 years) we had doctors prescribe vicodin for migraines. pointless. newer treatments is all 'bout stopping the "cycle of pain." if you can stop a migraine when the early symptoms first reveal themselves, you can take meds that prevent the migraine from fully developing. such meds ain't really painkillers however. https://www.drugs.com/maxalt.html in the past, we got migraines 1 per month, like clockwork. extreme discomfort followed by 2-3 days huddled in a dark room recovering. miserable. then, as we got older, frequency dropped to once every three months. last year or so has been once every six months. we got good results from our meds, so 70% o' the time is no worse than what most folks would think o' as a horrible headache. *chuckle* the kinda scary thing 'bout migraine with aura is that the early symptoms for us (and many others) is near identical to stroke... save for smelling toast burning. have hit an age when we gotta serious wonder if Gromnir is having migraine or stroke. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70860-what-you-did-today/?p=1586971 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70860-what-you-did-today/?p=1586991 haven't seen lady crimson on boards for awhile. kinda worried that she found no relief from migraines. name is misleading. folks hear migraine with aura and they think is just a bad headache. that can be true, but more often there is other symptoms and the degree o' headache pain after the initial onset symptoms is a whole different monster from the "migraines" folks take tylenol or aspirin to find relief. https://americanmigrainefoundation.org/living-with-migraines/types-of-headachemigraine/migraine-and-aura/ HA! Good Fun!
  4. To be fair, I doubt a lot of left leaning sources are going to roast Politifact for being biased in favour of them. And why should they be doubted just because their findings don't jive with a particular candidate? Whether they are biased or not, they have a methodology and are open and transparent with each of their "fact checks." They explain and source why they come to a particular judgment. Yes, Republicans are on top of their liars list, and Democrats are on the bottom. But, there are truthful Republicans that do very well. It just so happens that the pants on fire Republicans tend to be the demagogues --Trump, Bachmann, Cruz, Gingrich, and Palin. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2013/nov/01/principles-politifact-punditfact-and-truth-o-meter/ am not sure if we can describe politifact as having a methodology. it is pretty darn subjective. difference 'tween placement o' a claim in one o' two categories is gonna be the result o' a fuzzy kinda internal calculus rather than anything that can be objective discerned. more fundamental is how, or if, a particular claims is chosen to be checked at all. http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/peter-roff/2013/05/28/study-finds-fact-checkers-biased-against-republicans http://www.npr.org/2012/01/10/144974110/political-fact-checking-under-fire trump simple talks out his arse, so is unsurprising when his claims is rated as false, but there has been more than a few liberal political leaders that would appear to get benefit o' the doubt that conservatives do not. HA! Good Fun! ps is worth noting that the washington post fact checker, a source also accused o' liberal bias, notes that their earned pinocchio tally is close to even as 'tween dems and pubs.
  5. is kinda sad to see that the kids, and even some o' the older customers, got no idea what a unique experience they is witness to. oh well. HA! Good Fun!
  6. am skipping the food trucks today. friday we hit up the bacon mania truck in town, so an additional food truck splurge two days later would be, for us, excessive. next friday and sunday will present a moral conundrum for us as the culinerdy cruzer will be near on friday, but the sunday lineup in our community is excellent. choices. and thanks to all for the feedback. am guessing that Gromnir is one o' the lucky/unlucky bastards that don't have the brain chemistry to experience euphoria from opiates, but have always wondered what the fuss were 'bout. am guessing it is good that we don't need worry 'bout addiction, but somehow we feel like we got cheated. HA! Good Fun!
  7. we got a couple o' med conditions that have us being prescribed painkillers. one positive is that the frequency with which we suffer migraines with aura has decreased as we has gotten older, 'cause those result in a whole different kinda pain for us. regardless, for other problems, we is prescribed nerve-pain meds and opiates seeming by the pound. muscle relaxants is also frequent visitors in our med cabinet. not current, but for a considerable period o' time we were using three fentanyl patches at a time (two smaller and one bigger) to deal with some... issues. am not talking small pain issues. ok, the reason why we bring up is 'cause we has always been curious. clear we got some experience taking pain meds, and am always curious how folks get psychological addicted to pain meds. the low-end nerve pain stuff such a gabapentin has very few side effects, but am never quite certain if they is doing anything. more aggressive nerve pain drugs is usual o' the anti-depressant group, but in smaller dosages. such drugs has annoying side effects, but they never make one feel good. the notion o' craving nerve pain meds strikes us as ridiculous. opioids and muscle relaxants such as dilaudid is different than the nerve-pain meds. we took powerful pain med injections in college when we played football, and those could instant distance oneself from pain, but the thing is, for us, we has never felt good as the result o' taking pain meds. see tv and movies where people act all blissed and satisfied while taking oxy is beyond our comprehension. at best, pain meds smother our discomfort. is as if pillows is being added 'tween Gromnir and pain. the pain never complete goes away, but it becomes subdued and distant. meanwhile, we got the mild-to-moderate unpleasant feeling o' being... smothered. feel slower and heavier and bad. even so, as unpleasant as opioids in particular make us feel, at least we can get sleep thanks to 'em. our point is that we don't comprehend the addiction to opioids we hear o' other patients being addicted or see stuff as shown in media. am not understanding the cravings for pain killers as they has never made us feel good. sure, we understand withdrawal and headaches and all the physiological stuff that accompanies addiction to such meds, but we has never been "hooked" on such drugs 'cause we sure as heck have never experienced any kinda high from pain killers. asked a doctor or two and they simple tell us that different folks react different. am also having pain levels that seeming preclude the possibility o' getting high given the meds we is on... or so we is told. *shrug* am not wanting anybody to put themselves in a legal quandary, but if somebody could describe a high from opioids or other painkillers, we wouldn't mind hearing. does folks actual feel good from oxy/percocet, or is that just tv/movie stuff? as we noted, for us, painkillers make us feel, at best, dull. craving for such dullness is beyond our ken. thanks
  8. we got boarder collies, and they is smart... for dogs. even so, we might balk at voting for either o' our canines. the smarter o' our two borders eats p00p and is terrified o' the sounds that hot air balloons make. HA! Good Fun!
  9. kinda depends on how you count. 82 medals in the last olympics were good enough for third mostest. 2016 medal total for russia were 56. russian 2016 gold total also decreased from 2012 mark by 1/5... smidgen more. am thinking the east german judge is having more number troubles. HA! Good Fun!
  10. dunno if it is the same for others, but our squirrel issue is reversed. from trees (we have rather enormous redwoods in abundance in our backyard), fences and rooftops, the rodents taunt our dogs, chittering and banging their little squirrel fists. am not certain why the squirrels always seem so angry, but clear they is enraged or fearful. when the squirrels fight with each other on our roof at 5 am, our dogs react to the sound, but they mostly ignore the squirrels they see. found out recent that our neigh-bore is actual purposeful feeding the dirty little beggars. for awhile we thought that perhaps our gardeners were droping peanut shells all over our yard as we has seen 'em eating peanuts while they work. (kinda surprises us. am knowing peanuts is cheap, particular bought in bulk, but they make Gromnir thirsty. last thing we want while we is sweating our way towards heatstroke in sac valley heat is a food that is gonna make us feel more parched.) however, the gardeners do not discard the shells in our yard. the squirrels is less fastidious. HA! Good Fun!
  11. fixed so it works for Gromnir. HA! Good Fun!
  12. ... perhaps manifested were still enduring disappointment from the olympic women's high jump field, none of whom managed 2.0. dunno. regardless, if you don't have at least one kubrick film on your top 10 list, then we must suspect that you has been replaced by a doppelganger (a skrull if you prefer) or that you is suffering from brain-eating amoeba. paths of glory and dr. stragelove or: how i learned to stop worrying and love the bomb both make our top 10. fmj is admittedly kinda two-movies-in-one. the second half o' fmj is chaotic and that understandably don't work for everybody. even so, is excellent film with a few incredible performances and a number o' the more memorable scenes in movie history. we like the dark knight, spider-man 2 and captain america: winter soldier-- is all fantastic films, but am not even gonna try and suggest that any o' the three were better than spartacus, much less fmj. 'course different tastes in movies is perfect acceptable. is not as if we need all appreciate raging bull or kurosawa's ran as much as did Gromnir. ... even so, am still voting for "brain-eating amoeba" as an explanation. HA! Good Fun!
  13. hbo is making a Fahrenheit 451. http://www.vulture.com/2016/04/ramin-bahrani-to-adapt-fahrenheit-451-for-hbo.html the reason we bring it up in this place is that we hope hbo does it right, and we hope bruce sees the film... and perhaps then reads bradbury's novel, 'cause the book ain't about what most believe it is 'bout. novel were written in 1953 and it were a a dystopian and prophetic look at the sjw movement. you don't recall it that way? is 'cause you only know 'bout the book from wiki or some other source. perhaps more tragic is that in this day and age, so few o' the gg folks and others who howl 'bout the excesses o' the sjw movement know that bradbury wrote a book championing their cause 60 years ago, and it sits largely unread by the folks who would see it as a revelation. HA! Good Fun!
  14. one day left and vegas weeps... and our east german judge no doubt. we do feel a bit sad for the numerous competitors that were likely precluded from participating in spite o' having never been part o' the ubiquitous and state-sponsored russian doping scheme. given the extent o' the cheating, russians were gonna get little benefit o' doubt. perhaps the blanket condemnation were deserved. dunno. few whistle-blowers came forward to expose russian cheats. and heck, one whistle-blower were nevertheless prevented from competing, which will no doubt discourage future athletes from calling attention to state-sponsored doping. regardless, given how meaningful is the olympics in many sports, we nevertheless feel compassion for those innocent russians denied the world's largest and brightest stage. HA! Good Fun!
  15. you could be right. we will note that Gromnir were the fastest guy on our high school track team, but we were involved in multiple sports, and we were kinda a ****, so we rare practiced relay. didn't have time or inclination to practice relay. "it ain't rocket science," was our typical rejoinder when we were told to practice exchange. anecdotal, but our high school relay had 1 dq in two years. it ain't rocket science. HA! Good Fun!
  16. isn't this reactionary as 'posed to modern? a toggle for friendly-fire IS modern, so obsidian figurative telling players to man-up and not cast fireballs at their own party or burn is sorta the opposite o' modern, yes? HA! Good Fun!
  17. from Gromnir's earlier post 'bout brain development in children, we would not hold the crumb-snatcher responsible for the injury and subsequent death o' the dog. intellectually we would not hold the child responsible. emotionally? can't unknow. would we treat the child different even knowing that the child was incapable o' understanding that what they did were wrong? would be difficult to treat child same as before knowing. heck, knowing that gifted is a cowboys fan is difficult enough to overlook. HA! Good Fun!
  18. psychology o' sports is so strange. obviously the 4x100 team has been getting it right with enough frequency that they is usual in the finals. get through any number o' heats and semis w/o a hiccup, but then screw the pooch in the finals. makes it seem like a mental issue rather than one o' diligence. but what is the solution? is team not thinking enough 'bout exchange? unlikely. thinking too much? possible, but after so many fails, how do you train self to not think 'bout something too much? have seen this kinda thing on any number o' sports teams we participated in or coached. guys do it right in practice literal thousands o' times, but in competitions, they invariably blow coverage, or throw interception or whatever. frustrating, particularly as the fail can becomes viral. HA! Good Fun!
  19. when our mother died, we were the only person present. for various reasons, our sister and father were not in attendence. no other friends, o' which she had many, gathered at her bedside. Gromnir were not actual close with our mother, which made the whole situation odd. felt wrong that we should be the one to comfort her and to be witness to her death. she deserved better. *shrug* our mother did not "go gentle into that good night." were more than a couple hours o' tortured gasping, like a fish struggling on dry land. kinda horrible. doctors finally give her increasing morphine that effective rendered her unconscious... while she continued to gasp. the struggling became gradual less labored, and the gasping more shallow 'til finally, mercifully, she died. took from dusk 'til mid afternoon the following day for our mother to die, and during a significant and unnecessary measure o' that span, all we saw on her face were pain and terrible fear. we did not share the whole truth with our father and sister. to our family we explained pulmonary embolism and we described how the doctors gave mom pain meds to ease her passing. we did not share the truth. never. when we spoke at our mother's memorial service, and afterwards, we did not share the details. lies o' omission. perhaps what we did were wrong. to hold back truth is not in our nature. in hundreds o' other traumatic situations with clients and family, we has been brutal honest. people deserve the truth. when our mother died, we believed that our family and her friends deserved the truth, but we chose instead to carry the dark reality o' it our self. perhaps we were wrong to hide truth, but am certain our mother didn't want to be remembered for the suffering she need endure in her final day. we took the truth . is our burden. don't know the dog owner's reasoning, but we obvious can't judge.
  20. never rely on cracked. period. the site likes to be controversial and show folks that their common held beliefs is wrong, so they will often use debunked sources or misleading numbers to make a point. case in point, worldwide, 66% o' terrorism death from 2013-2014 were attributable to four sunni muslim groups. total islamic related terrorism is closer to 80%. sure, if you limit to the US and western europe where there is, y'know, very few muslims, then o'course the numbers decrease for islamic inspired terrorism. then again, you need be careful to avoid 2001 and 2015-2016 as well. 9/11 Really skews the numbers, and if you is trying to make a point 'bout the relative infrequent occurrence o' islamic terrorism in the west, all those bodies is a harsh counter-argument. also, have an article in 2016 that purposeful ignores the recent rash o' islamic terrorist incidents in the US and europe is also a bit dishonest, no? am recalling one o' those cracked articles that were trying to set us straight 'bout what were life like in north america before european settlers. friend sent us the link. no doubt she thought we would be happy to see somebody finally dispelling the "lies" 'bout pre-columbian, native american culture. never has we seen such misleading numbers, not to mention reliance on sources that had been discredited decades ago. cracked is a fun source, but don't take serious. is worse than wiki. HA! Good Fun!
  21. misunderstanding. ain't the number but the manner in which such has been used. obama has frequent used executive orders to circumvent Congress. is not the number o' orders that makes folks cry foul but rather the belief that obama has far exceeded the limits o' executive authority as granted to him by the Constitution. admittedly, in the last couple decades, Congress has become willful impotent. folks on the Hill is purposeful not doing their jobs. is less risky to do nothing and let courts and the executive fulfill the role that once were within the zone o' influence o' the legislative branch. obama's executive orders arguable has exceeded Constitutional limits, but Congressional incompetence has created a power vacuum that were gonna naturally be filled by either the States or the POTUS. what obama has done with executive orders is, all too often, unconstitutional. is not quantity but quality. the thing is, obama were only in a position to misuse executive orders to the degree he has 'cause o' long-term, unchecked, Congressional futility. HA! Good Fun!
  22. I didn't have clue who he was before Suicide Squad, even though I have seen three movies where he has been (Fight Club, "Girl, Interrupted", and American Psycho), and I would guess that I am not only one whom that is the case. So sudden hate towards could be because people actually noticed his acting. leto received much positive reviews for his performance in dallas buyers club, and the adulation were deserved. am thinking we mentioned elsewhere but the way in which facts were twisted in dbc annoyed us. even so, the performances o' main actors were so good that we nevertheless considered dbc to be a fantastic movie. haven't seen suicide squad, but leto's star in hollywood were clear ascendant Before his recent joker portrayal. as a person who has not seen the movie, we cannot help but wonder where the criticism comes from. is this a situation such as tommy lee jones portrayal o' two-face? no actor, regardless o' his mastery o' craft, were gonna save batman forever from joel schumacher. alternatively, perhaps leto went too far down the rabbit hole as a few articles suggest. am curious, but not curious enough to see suicide squad in theaters. HA! Good Fun!
  23. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/06/15/new-evidence-donald-trump-didn-t-pay-taxes.html am not certain why this stuff is a tertiary issue. hillary's email stoopidity and trump's chronic speech gaffs is at the center o' campaign discussion in the media, but perhaps no campaign in our recollection has focused so little on prospective policies... and again, am not certain how trump is getting a pass on tax returns from media and from his own supporters. tax freaking returns. HA! Good Fun! ps is studies that suggest that the t-rex were predominant a scavenger. and for all we know, it mighta' had a disposition akin to a week-old kitten.
  24. what the hell why isn't that censored but so much else that is very arguably milder is 'Cause Jessie Ventura said it and he's cool. Supposedly. I think he's a jackass but that's me. And a sexual tyrannosaurus. never understood that turn o' phrase. after all, look at a t-rex's hands. y'know what they says 'bout small hands, yes? mick jagger is a sexual t-rex, 'least 'ccording to keith richards. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2321974/Sir-Mick-Jagger-admits-Keith-Richards-apology-****-jibes-prerequisite-Rolling-Stones-reunion.html HA! Good Fun! ps tax returns. am still not understanding how trump is getting a free pass on this. so, tax returns.
  25. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/18/sports/olympics/rio-schedule-usain-bolt-andre-de-grasse-results.html another olympic decathlon gold for ashton eaton. repeat decathlon winners is in rarefied company. HA! Good Fun!
