  1. Interesting... what does 75-85% of power mean... no idea what 75-85% actual means, particular for a spell caster. am gonna be patient and wait for details. HA! Good Fun!
  2. Did you check your junk folder? It came addressed from Obsidian Entertainment. Got mine Friday. got nothing. guess we need ask 'bout the oversight. you say the email came from obsidian, yes? then we will need to start with obsidian. HA! Good Fun!
  3. yeah, Gromnir has pointed out many times, and in multiple threads, how it is easy for a party with a single priest to get caught in a kinda buff+buff+heal cycle o' boredom with their priest. is not a problem with the class. multiple priests solves the tendency to overlook the more interesting gameplay opportunities o' the class. the priest is powerful and, in our experience, fun. 'course this is one reason am a bit disappointed with the reduction to party of five members. a multi-priest party is more viable with six than with five. HA! Good Fun!
  4. That's the problem right there. The priest was more valuable at buffing/countering than fighting, so he ended up doing little fighting despite being built for the job. well, that ain't a problem with the class. like weapons? take sanctifier and ghost hunter talents and weapon focus _____ as well as the deity-specific weapon talent. add a couple o' the other "martial" talents such as one-handed style and/or savage attacks as well as scion of flame. nobody is forcing pj to use the priest as a buffer. use other support classes or a second priest to buff while your priest o' berath destroys the world with fire and maces or great swords. is not a shortcoming o' the class that it is so good at buffing most people never realize how good it is at killing stuff... particularly undead. HA! Good Fun! ps most undead spirits have reduced resistance to flame, so your priest is gonna wipe the dungeon floor with them as long as you use flame spells and scion. as a dedicated spell caster, am doubting there will be much appeal to multiclass, save for perhaps 1-2 levels o' whatever... at most 1-2 levels
  5. I did (priest of Berath). It was fun in the early game. Mid to late game I was too busy casting to be able to do much fighting, plus the lack of martial talents made for an unsatisfactory combatant. Overall it was one of the less fun builds I tried. why does casting preclude fighting? the priest has a wide variety o' offensive spells, particular fire-based. and the martial talents is equal available to priests as any other class. *shrug* it took years, but check out the recent "most powerful class" threads. the serious build folks finally came around and realized just how flexible and powerful is a priest. the thing is, priests is so valuable at buffing we suspect most casual players never realize just how powerful a priest can be. HA! Good Fun!
  6. perfect undead hunter is a priest. period. one can make an offensive focused priest in poe. people rare do, which we find perplexing. HA! Good Fun!
  7. worst kinda déjà vu http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/80293-thoughts-on-romance-and-modding-official-romance-thread/?p=1801737 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70723-the-official-romance-thread/?p=1576523 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/66436-bittersweet-eternity-an-open-letter-addressed-to-obsidian-entertainment/?p=1464868 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/53294-new-mass-effect-2-character/?p=1000256 etc HA! Good Fun! ps am repeating our previous opinion regarding poe romance: make it a seperate dlc funding goal. torment offered the bloom separate from the base game. do same with romance. offer romances and let the promancers fund... or not.
  8. am gonna see more than a few o' these threads. is already a wishlist thread or two. perhaps the mods could merge and pin? HA! Good Fun!
  9. barbarian is worst poe class from perspective o' matching espoused developer goals for the class. no class defining attributes or abilities? barbarians is a nifty class with kewl powhaz, but from a design pov, it is a clear fail. too dependent on carnage, which also is inextricable linked to intelligence. barbarian is the class which most clear fails to meet developer goals. keep the fun, but lose the broken arse mechanics. oh, and developers should quit using "genius barbarian" as some kinda measure o' poe character customization success. the ubiquitous smarty barbarians is an example o' the exact opposite o' the freedom to customize which exists in much o' poe. if everybody is playing a smarty barbarian, then obsidian did something wrong. terrible example, so quit using it. HA! Good Fun!
  10. Because Islamic extremists are not a genuine threat to the US. It's not an enemy state trying to wage war on us. They attack civilian targets because they know they have no real chance of toppling our government. Instead they try to spread fear, which they hope will force the government to do stupid things, which will add to their power. It's an ideology, and the danger lies in the spreading of that ideology. Honestly the President seems to be playing right into their hands. Are internment camps next? oddly enough, during the campaign when trump's supporters and campaign leadership were asked 'bout the dubious legality o' the current President's plans for dealing with immigrants, they near universal mentioned korematsu. ... one o' the most reviled Court cases o' the past two centuries and near universal recognized as bad law, were the foundation o' legitimizing the alt-right's plans for making America great again. heed the recent departed J. Scalia's warnings from the linked wp article: "“But you are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again,” he said. "He used a Latin expression to explain why. “Inter arma enim silent leges … In times of war, the laws fall silent.” "“That’s what was going on — the panic about the war and the invasion of the Pacific and whatnot,” Scalia said. “That’s what happens. It was wrong, but I would not be surprised to see it happen again — in time of war. It’s no justification but it is the reality.”" too many o' us is afraid o' the wrong danger. fear gets us the patriot act and korematsu. legally, it can't happen again, but it will happen again.
  11. We were just incredibly racist back then. It got a bit better in 1965. the civil rights act of 1964 were kinda the sea change moment, but change didn't happen instantaneous. has been a slow and painful process and more than a few patriotic and earnest americans wish we could turn back the clock to 1964, or 1954, or even 1861. HA! Good Fun!
  12. At one point I could have said that I do, but I've been on Deadfire exclusively for a good while :D Thank you! So besides concept art, can you reveal what else you're working on? I'm assuming atleast more portraits? could be worse. our experience were more akin to HA! Good Fun!
  13. like it or not http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/11/09/behind-trumps-victory-divisions-by-race-gender-education/ but yeah, even trump voters didn't necessarily like him so much as they hated hillary clinton. as to the Court, possible the only positive we see from trump's election is we are more likely to see replacement Justices who favor judicial restraint. HA! Good Fun!
  14. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/protests-erupt-u-s-airports-refugees-detained/ also good timing. am not sure who is authoring these executive orders for trump, but they are gonna be problematic. already linked above, but worth another looksee http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/reality-check-many-of-trump%E2%80%99s-early-vows-will-never-actually-happen/ar-AAmiJF4?li=AA5a8k&ocid=spartanntp also, http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/%e2%80%98up-is-down%e2%80%99-trump%e2%80%99s-unreality-show-echoes-his-business-past/ar-AAmlWUm?ocid=spartanntp tracking trump lies and alternative facts is becoming almost comical. HA! Good Fun!
  15. no, but the reason is our first potd run were with an orlan priest o' eothas. HA! Good Fun!
  16. am doubting the subclasses will present a large problem. obsidian described subclasses as being akin to ad&d or 2e d&d kits, yes? am suspecting bg2 were not the best example o' what josh and obsidian likely has in mind. iwd2 were gonna have kits and we saw their offerings. if you are familiar with old pnp d&d, don't expect bladesinger or priest of mystra. the subclasses will be different than the core class, but not clear better. HA! Good Fun!
  17. the deus ex statuary is not a big deal to Gromnir. honest, most scifi and fantasy places great demands 'pon us to suspend disbelief. this is not a serious issue from our pov. even so, am not seeing why it were a necessary hurdle to need overcome. if obsidian wanted to start us at level 1, then give us a new level 1 protagonist. could keep much the same if developers genuine wished to do so. make watcher unavailable, but have the new protagonist get caught up in the misfortune at cad nua. same starting point at least. HA! Good Fun!
  18. is not genuine unique. we have had Presidents who, particular early in their terms, who don't fully realize or accept the limitations o' the office. if an executive is popular enough, they can generate the Congressional and bureaucratic support they need, and may even be able to work 'round the Court a bit. trump is not genuine a new phenomenon, but we ain't seen his like in a long time. and as for alternative facts, am largely unconcerned. trump's unpopular populist movement needs a discernable villain. clinton lost the election even if she won the popular vote. she ain't a viable villain. illegal aliens is a possible villain, but not enough. the rate o' illegal border crossings from mexico has been steadily decreasing for years. the uneducated country mouse voters who got trump elected is not the only folks who is afraid o' terrorists. terrorists has always been a fantastic villain as they can be anyone and anywhere. unfortunately, the Constitution is gonna make singling out folks based on religion and national origin more difficult than trump realizes. is not a new thing 'mongst executives, but am seeing trump increasing wanna use the media as his villain dujour. what is perhaps new is a populist wannabee executive is fighting 'gainst the media. has almost always been opposite. the alternative facts nonsense is, we suspect, a way to paint the media as The Adversary. dunno. is gonna be interesting if ugly. the only way trump becomes anything other than a punchline is if Congress simple rolls over for him and rubber stamps most o' his ill considered, and arguable illegal, actions. numerous powerful republicans has already begun lining up to oppose trump, but if it seems like trump has a mandate from the electorate, things could change. one thing am almost certain of is trump will be disappointed with his Court nominee, whoever it is. none o' his top three choices is obvious political creatures. all o' them is Judges first and foremost. whether they seem to favor 2nd amendment freedoms or a more restrictive view o' probable cause will all be pointless if they sees unconstitutional excess from an executive. loyalty is important to trump, but is often lost on a Justice, and so-called conservative Justices is more likely to take a jaundiced view o' the kinda stuff we has seen thus far from trump. HA! Good Fun!
  19. am actual agreeing with rheingold's criticism. oh sure, we also prefer a level 1 reboot, but am believing the depowering o' the watcher is contrived and ill considered. perhaps the motivation for doing so is to make possible the recycle o' three companions who will likewise be depowered? to make the depowering work from a story pov requires some kinda deus ex machina event. almost literal in the present case. a new protagonist woulda' been far more plausible and and would less likely to run up 'gainst proprietary instincts o' returning players. start at level 1 would necessarily bother a few folks, but take away hard earned *chuckle* 16 levels were gonna predictable offend. regardless, am not seeing a good reason for depowering the watcher save for it makes recycle o' three poe companions possible. coulda' started with a new protagonist at level one and had less baggage. also, in spite o' being a bit off-topic, am gonna observe how we would prefer six party members. am only mentioning here as it is being argued in this thread. regardless, a sixth party member is not something we "worry about," but is rather an opportunity to add an additional joinable or hierling. the sixth member is, for Gromnir, providing considerable flexibility to our party dynamic. have multiple priests or no priests is easier with an extra character. an off-tank became a constant in our parties particular after a few o' the initial tank nerfs in early patches and when recognizing improved expansion mob ai. given how one o' our tanks were gonna be quasi-dps or quasi-support, we would then have room for four additional characters; lotta opportunities. only have three additional party members behind tanks would be much limiting. oh, and again, we didn't actual need an off-tank during beta or at release. nevertheless, have the extra slot made us able to adjust w/o much pain. try and predict post release changes is impossible, but extra slot allows for more player flexibility in any event. oh, and more party members means we get to have more joinables in our party at one time, which is a big selling point for Gromnir, particular during our first playthrough. but again, am much pleased with restarting as a level one protagonist. even so, am recognizing the inherent awkwardness o' deus ex. the curious depowering doesn't bother us much, but a new protagonist woulda' been far easier to explain and less likely to enrage folks emotional invested in their poe1 protagonist. HA! Good Fun!
  20. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/reality-check-many-of-trump%E2%80%99s-early-vows-will-never-actually-happen/ar-AAmiJF4?li=AA5a8k&ocid=spartanntp looking more and more as if Gromnir were prophetic http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/88086-us-election-2016-part-iii/?p=1828131 HA! Good Fun!
  21. for perspective, here is an oldie Gromnir post dealing with the iwd2 kit issue. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/54409-dragon-age-discussion/?p=1039586 HA! Good Fun!
  22. Well, if changing the ranger pet from an animal to to a spirit that is only a short duration summon in combat is the only feature of that kit then I'd be pretty disappointed if I played a ranger. For now I'll try to be cautiously optimistic since I'm sure it'll be a long while until we get more info on all the kits am thinking folks need to reign in their expectations if they do not wish to be disappointed. HA! Good Fun!
  23. most folks here will have no memory o' iwd2 development. josh/black isle kit suggestions before the switch to 3e were not well received. resulted in a kinda comical conflict 'tween forumites and developers. am curious to see how the poe fanbase reacts if josh and co has created poe kits along similar lines as the iwd2 kits. HA! Good Fun!
  24. no tartar sauce after all. HA! Good Fun!
