I just realized there's an outside chance this might be considered spoilery due to the Black Fang card.. if so please move to the other forum. My apologies. Valeros, Seoni, Merisiel, and Lini are going after Black Fang. They try to close all the locations except the Shrine to Lamashtu, knowing they should corner Black Fang there as it's a dangerous place to explore. The party makes their way over half way through the shrine but it takes a dangerous toll. They manage to get down to where they are seriously running out of time and half the party on the verge of dying after their next action from loss of blood and sheer exhaustion. They've already had one encounter with Black Fang here in the shrine. He did some major damage and ran towards the entrance to the shrine. Valeros is the last to arrive at the Shrine. He's in great shape, but he lost his weapons somewhere along the way, all he has left is his armor and a useless mattock in hand. If he's going to beat something down he's gotta do it bare handed. As he walks into the shrine, Black Fang peeks around a corner. "AHHH.. there you are, I've been expecting you, warrior.", Black Fang bellows. "What's this? You come at me bare handed? My, my... You are a stupidly brash one, aren't you... well.. DIE for your idiocy!", Black Fang starts to rear his head back to spray acid in the vicinity of Valeros. Just then, the rest of the party runs into the large entrance alcove. Valeros screams 'GET BACK!! I'll rip this annoying wyrm's teeth out with my bare hands!" Seoni, Lini and Merisiel take the brunt of the spray of acid, taking more damage to their already torn and tired bodies. They can't take much more of this before they all collapse. Valeros gets hit by the acidic deluge, but he sees a small fountain and runs through it washing it off, he ends up taking no damage. He continues running up a small incline and jumps at Black Fang in a kicking posture in a rage. "I'LL KICK YOUR HEAD OFF, QUACK FANG! RAAAAAHH" Lini seeing this unfold drops down to both knees and starts praying to any god that will listen.. As Valeros flies through the air at Black Fang, he connects with his heel right in Black Fangs eye and his leg sinks into Black Fang's eye socket and cracks into his skull. Valeros' momentum then slams black fangs head into a sharp ear sticking up on a decorative statue and the spear miraculously hits Black Fang in the other side of the head as Valeros pulls on Black Fang's horn and twists his head further in. Black Fang has a few last pangs of life then slumps down, his head caught on the statue. Valeros jumps down to the floor of the shrine, brushes himself off. "Well, I guess he'll be sticking around here for a while....", Valeros japes... to the groans of his stalwart companions... (Here's a screenshot of the last setup, I rolled a 14 on that 2d10+3)

Animated Cards?
hfm replied to ender424's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
I do notice that the images on the cards "pulse" for items, weapons, and armor. I'll have to pay more attention to others. Thought I think you were asking for more than just that. -

What tablet will you play on.
hfm replied to grievance's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
The game runs well in both BlueStacks and AMIDuOS, which are both Android emulators for Windows. I haven't tried Nox or Genymotion, but I assume it should run fine on either. My only issue with BlueStacks is that the resolution is set to emulate a 1280x760 smartphone, which is rather small on my 1920x1080 PC monitor. If I resize the window it only zooms the pixels without increasing the quality. DuOS works pretty well, but it uses CPU hardware emulation, so that might not be an option for some folks if their computer is more than a few years old. Maybe I'll try Nox later to see how it does. I'm using BlueStacks2 on my Razer Blade (3200x1800 resolution) and it looks great fullscreen. I don't think i'd ever be able to read the cards along the bottom in my hand fullscreen without zooming, but I can read the medium sized one when I draw a card from a location deck just fine. Here's an original size screenshot at 3200x1800. http://i.imgur.com/O2R3gpt.jpg It's also working just fine on both my 2012 Nexus 7 and Nexus 6P, but it's definitely much easier to read on Bluestacks. -
Small screen problem
hfm replied to Degnir's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
Yeah, I was playing on my Nexus 6P. The party selection user experience is broken on phones. I too was wishing I could just tap the spots to add a character instead of trying to swipe. I eventually added the chars successfully, but it was tough. Some things I'd like: 1. Tapping to add chars instead of swiping (or fix the swiping so it works well across devices in an expected and consistent manner) 2. Add a button so I can just fill a RANDOM character to a slot. I like to play these types of games with random characters sometimes, it can be fun. If I get stuck due to lack of diversity I'll just restart. 3. The ability to double tap the dice to roll, or just a button to roll the dice. Swiping there seems to be hit and miss as well. But I do understand that swiping potentially eliminates "accidentally" rolling when you don't mean to yet in an already busy interface. 4. I'm one of the people that doesn't care too much about PASS on a boon acquisition, but it is true that it's better to add it. If you don't want to acquire it and have some weak boon diluting your deck it can be difficult and frustrating if it's a low enough bar to acquire. 5. The last thing I'd like is for Obsidian to continue the awesome, I'm really loving what I've played of it so far! (even though the 3 char party I picked died a horrible death) My wife and I will still play the tabletop version when we play, but I like that I can play whenever I want without tearing down our existing box. Can't wait for the rest of the adventure decks! -

Wow.. that would be a TON of work for the artists. Perhaps maybe just the Villains and Henchmen? -
ETA on Android release?
hfm replied to trashmyego's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
I'm talking out of my rear end, since I'm not in their offices managing the deployment. But the two app stores work differently. Apple: Days, sometimes weeks, review process when you submit the app for publishing. After they review they give you the ability to go live by flipping a switch. My guess is possibly the manual process was used, where they approve it in review and then let you release it when you see fit. There's a processing time but it's usually short, a couple-few hours. Google: Publish the app, it's live within a few hours. They could have theoretically done the MANUAL apple process and then released it on App Store and Play Store published at the same time and tried to get them both out around the same time. The processing times for both stores (it's basically just propagating to the CDN at that point) can vary between them. They're usually both a few hours for that process. But it's not exact, and can vary wildly. They may have also just published App Store first and Google Play is currently publishing as we speak and we're just waiting for it to propagate. I should let the Dev answer, they might not have even published it to the Play Store yet. I'm mashing ctrl+shift+R on the search for it though, like a silly person: WAIT OMG BOOM ITS LIVE https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.obsidian.pacg1 -

Where is it on Android? They probably published it on Google Play when they were able to make the iOS version live, it takes a few hours to show up. Unfortunately it's very difficult to time both stores since Apple has to review (takes days.. sometimes weeks) and then basically gives you a switch to flip to make it live. Google always goes live within hours after publishing, but I'm not aware of any similar "give me a switch to flip" scenario. They basically allow you to publish and make it live within hours where Apple takes FOREVER to review. It used to be weeks, I hear it's better now. -

Niiiice... I imagine as soon as that happened they published the Android version to Google Play and we'll see it in a few hours max. -

Yeah I mentioned that a page back, it makes sense that they would hold one to release them relatively at the same time. -

Not completely correct. Once approved by Apple the developer can release the app on the date/time the developer wants: right away or later, not just on a Thursday. My Conclusion is that the app has been submitted for approval (when ??) and the waiting is for approval. Then Obsidian can release (at any time Obsidian wants). So the waiting is for Apple approval and Obsidian to release In my experience, your app should be available within hours after publishing to the Play Store. So Android is completely up to you. Apple is the one with the approval process, and even that is getting much faster than it used to be. Well, Google play does its update every Thursday. So I guess if they want be featured on the front page in the "Newly added + updsted" tab, they have to wait for that day. I would imagine being featured there would work with a release today or Thursday. -

An old Nexus 7 2012. It plays Talisman and Elder Sign just fine, should be fine with this as well. Barring that I have a Nexus 6P, but it's a tad too small for board games with intricate UI's. The N7 also plays The Room series of games just fine, and I expect those are much more stressing on the hardware performance. -
I have a Nexus 6P. I'm trying to play Horus Heresy (also an awesome digital board game I might add) and it's just a little too small. I feel like even though my Nexus 7 2012 is getting super old I'm going to rather play it there. The little bit of extra screen real estate goes a LONG way with these types of games with intricate UIs.

If there's an option for a randomized party I'm just going to do that. That's my favorite way to play Elder Sign's digital version. I'd like to just try my hand at using different heroes in different combinations instead of trying to plan it out. There's still so many chars I haven't tried in the tabletop version. It will make it easier to give those a go if I can do it in the app. If I was playing an actual RPG campaign, then I'd plan it out with my fellow party members to make sure we were diverse. But PACG? Bah.. lets go random! No harm. If I end up getting stuck due to lack of diversity I'll start over.

Nothing is ever certain. My guess is it MIGHT have something to do with Apple's approval process, as they can and will delay your release for approval reasons. It used to be two weeks sometimes. They might have just gotten a new estimate from Apple, and want to just launch the Android version at the same time that the Apple version ends up going live. Android is basically live within hours of publishing. -
Flash screenshots?
hfm replied to PinkRose's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
There are six background paintings on the website to look at for now. Those are ones I did more or less from scratch. Most things in the game are based on existing art from the physical card game, but due to the fidelity of tablets and for the sake of visual consistency I have had to modify everything. Most of the time it is taking a piece of art that is of an appropriate scale and level of detail for a card and doing something like this Some things are less obvious, but as I like to say I've fleshed out a lot of maps and I've also had to tweak things in character art to have consistent eye lines. You can compare screenshots with the original maps in the pnp books, and the Iconics art by Wayne Reynolds if you like. Some character art I've redone completely, but we haven't shown any of that yet to my knowledge. So, lots to look at but you'll need to squint Nice roll! -
I'm twitching to see gameplay

+1, most definitely. -
As far as the monetization scenario is concerned. The tabletop version had the intro adventure (3 scenarios) and Adventure Deck 1 included. the other 5 Adventure Decks that completed the Adventure Path as well as the character add-on were all separate purchases. They were $19.99 each (I am a subscriber so I get a discount). It's interesting that the first AD isn't included like the base set for tabletop. But I actually see potentially that they will definitely be cheaper, perhaps $9.99 each or even lower. Pulling this out of my rear end. It would be nice if the character add-on deck was the same, but I actually see they probably will sell those characters separately for some small amount each, maybe $1.99 each perhaps $2.99. Maybe a full character add-on pack for a discount. The interesting thing about the character add-on is that it also dilutes the BASIC item pool (if you've never played before, BASIC items are typically the entry level stuff). I could see them changing the rules for the digital edition so that you don't dump all the cards into the "box" that came with the character add-on pack. Typically when you play the table-top version you would actually build a couple characters and put them in the box if you included the character add-on just to "consume" BASIC cards so you're not diluting the "box" with weaker cards. In essence, increasing chances you'll get a better card. I assume they will change all this for the digital game. I digress though since this isn't really about monetization. I have faith based on the comment about monetization there will be nominal fees for AD's and extra characters to play with and everyone will be happy with the solution. I hope there isn't any further "pay to acquire items", it would totally be outside the spirit of the tabletop game. Nathan's comment seems to allude to a system that's similar to the tabletop game.
