  1. I did try it, but I got DCed when we got to the imperial ship. When I got back I was inside the republic and no way to get to the imperial ship. Up to that point it had been solid enough... perhaps bit too much dialogue though. If end game instances have that much dialogue and choices it becomes a chore to repeat. All in all I was slightly disappointed by SW:TOR. Mainly by the two features that been marketed as it's key selling points: story and "full VO". Story was disappointing, because it didn't affect the game world at all(kinda). I had understood from somewhere that this game would use phasing quite a lot, but the way it used it was just really weak. Basically you have a room that is phased and only you can go there and after the phase has been completed you can't go back there. So basically nothing happens. Phasing is done quite beautifully in WoW's death knight's starting area where the whole area changes as you do quests. To compare that to a small room for a one person(or a group) that get's locked afterwards is just... meh. "Full VO", meaning every character that has something to say has a voice over. This means quest givers(trainers and shop keepers have like one line) are the only ones you can interact with. Everyone else is a ghost: no name, no click, no nothing. I think the most accurate description of SW:TOR would be vanilla World of Warcraft 1.1 with class stories and VO. It's not bad enough to be called outdated and not good enough to be called a classic. I'm still going to buy it and play it for couple of months.
  2. I wouldn't have minded if it was that... but this was "Oh honey, bribe him so we can be together!" And the implication was that the simple fact of HAVING that loving feeling made those two become selfish unrepentant dickholes who'd watch the world fall for their own desires. You have an option when you return the quest back to lovers to not to take their trinket or whatever it was. You were protecting their passion or something and they are grateful for it. It didn't feel so darksided then, but I do agree how it felt when initially given. I played Jedi Consular up to level 10 last night and generally speaking SW:TOR is still pretty much a mmo, but it is good enough for your hand occasionally to creep towards the quick save button.
  3. 13 minutes and then I'm going to crack this bitch up.
  4. I got in too. Now I finally get to hang around all the cool kids.
  5. Yep, I've got two pre-orders registered, one for me and one for my wife. One is early September and one is early October, so it will be interesting to see how many days extra that gives me. Wait. All pre-orders get early access? I thought only CE pre-orders get early access.
  6. Probably, but no heavy or medium armor.
  7. If there's no grey side choices for consular at launch I'll probably will be playing inquisitor too. Lightside choices for sith should be greyish, I think. Consular struck me as a healer. Youre no healer Kiro, youre a remorseless killing machine! Consular has a ranged dps tree like inquisitor, but instead of lightnings he'll be throwing force and rocks.

  9. No. It probably won't expire until very close to release. But 1st of November could be our special day. Ok I just have a lot of info on the game, but I perfer to wait for the NDA to expire. You aren't Hurlshot and you never will be Hurlshot!

  11. UK Gamespy preview. Never trust the PR machine, eh.
  12. We know for sure that the animation project is named New York. New York joined after Virginia and assuming Sawyers Project was the next.... Well, North Carolina. From where? I just don't understand where this information came from. It's guess work, plain and simple. Obsidian names(or at least used to) their projects by states and those states are put to order by their join date or whatever. Since we have no solid info on how long have current projects been in development or if there have been some cancelled projects in between, I think it's mostly confusing to try to pin a state name to a project.
  13. Wow, I was "first seen" at level nine on 14 Feb 05! Man, I need a new game badly. So, I herd like two really cool guys have preordered the Old Republic. You should totally do so too. Then we could like never play together since you are in US and I'm in EU servers.
  14. I accept full responsibility and will even refund your emotional investment. The only payment method I accept are uncomfortable long hugs with you mouth breathing to my ear.
  15. I preordered Old Republic and I will blame Hurlshot if it is crap, because he is clearly the one to blame here.
  16. I've been reading lot of faq material and in it it was said starting area is about 10 hours long and of those 10 hours 7 is spend doing class specific quests. After that you get your ship and get to explore universe with every other class. I think it's safe to assume every area after starting area has a worse ratio of class specific quests than 70%. Why? Because it was your class' starting area after all. Furthermore, it is a mmo. There are lot of people who want to play mmos with other people, with other classes, and want to be rewarded for it. In other words: their quest will go forward as they help a friend go forward. So I think it's safe to assume(yes again, sorry) class specific quests give only slightly different reason and/or different objective to go in a area full of enemies, but every class goes there. Basically, where jedi knight would go to kill the leader of sand people, smuggler would go to steal specific goods, but most of the time during their quests both of them would be killing sand people. So, in practice, the 100 hours of class specific material would be actually a lot less. I'm perfectly willing to be proven wrong by the beta people.
  17. I have tried couple times to get back to wow, but I couldn't keep gaming the full subscribed time either time. Just too much wow back in the day, I guess.
  18. I signed up for beta testing. I thought it would be pretty much the perfect way to test if this would be worth buying, but I kinda doubt my changes of actually getting to be a tester.
  19. That interviewer actually had some pretty interesting questions. The two randoms were bit weird.
