I'm not an ogre! ' Edit: that's odd, it doesn't show up as an icon, even if I use the popup menu to select the smilie ...
  2. I got better!
  3. I still think torture is in order for people found incontrovertibly guilty of heinous crimes like rape, and especially rape of a child.
  4. Forsooth, "Forsooth" is an acceptable term, verily!
  5. 130000gp for a suit of Epic Shadowdancer armour in HotU, for example ...
  6. I'm starting to think Sony aren't going to win this fight, with Blu-ray looking more and more like a white elephant (MP2 encoding?! and extra levels of DRM, sub-optimal capacity on their discs) ...
  7. The original French version? (Much better than the Hollywood remake.) The Godfather, Part II; I think I like the first one a lot more after seeing them back-to-back again. That's despite the absolutely superb individual performances by DeNiro and Pacino, et alia. I mean, what was the point of the last scene? What a piece of tosh!
  8. So the emphasis in your comment was "Army". I see.

That could be the server's cache.
  10. They have free samples at the end of the tours of the Belgian breweries ... "
  11. I agree, and the graphics seemed pretty decent, anyway, but the gameplay is certainly very interesting ... To be fair, that has always been an integral part of RPGs ... after all, half the fun/benefit of higher levels is the ph@tl00t that you find/sell or buy.
  12. I'd say it makes more sense to make a fantastic start than a memorable ending, but then again, if the gameplay is compulsive, the memorable ending is what the player will take away with them ... So if the developer /publisher is only looking for a quick score, then a great splashscreen is all they need ... though one would hope that game reviewers play most if not all a game to decide whether the game is worth playing, finished and memorable. (How are those pigs: all fuelled up and ready to fly?)
  13. If it's above the native resolution, it's interlacing, isn't it? It might hurt your eyes / give you a headache, but it shouldn't do any damage to a LCD. Having a skewed screen isn't really preferable to having a smaller, accurate rendering.

    I certainly hope so.

Hassat, are you saying that: you are browsing from the same PC, but without logging in (i.e. as a Guest), yet your account is still listed as online?
  16. I'm sure Meta will know which ancient philosopher we're mimicking! How about two from the Age of Enlightenment?
  17. I can leave London at breakfast and be in Paris for Lunch, by Eurostar and the Channel Tunnel (affectionately known as that hole in the ground into which the government pours money the Chunnel).
  18. Eurocrats are roundly condemned by themselves above all as wasters, in my experience. However, I think that the lessson of the USA teaches us that centralised bureacuracies are like antlions. You can struggle all you like and you slide faster into the centre. I like JS Mill's stance:
  19. Now that's scary ..!
  20. They wouldn't use a technicality to protect Harry, they'd just put him somewhere safe, but still on active duty (like they're going to do).
  21. metadigital replied to Fionavar's topic in Obsidian General
.. And get back to work!
  22. I think if you use a spectrum to describe an arc from fantasy around, through Space Opera, to SF you will do better with categorising genres. Star Wars is waaaay over in the fantasy segment, with some Sciencey-sounding Opera interspersing the high camp fantasy, for example. I prefer my fiction more the other end of the arc, up near nano technology and Total Recall, far away from teleporters, dragons and Tolkein.
  23. Jade Empire is available through Steam in about two weeks ...
  24. Yeah, I forgot to add Wizardry 8; I've had dental appointments that were more fun than the gameplay in that game ... To be fair, we aren't listing games we have finished, just those that (for whatever reason) we haven't. I know that the games I haven't finished just didn't interest me.
