  1. so, what... you're nearly certain there's a good possibility that its rumored sales may be high? YOU might say that; I couldn't possibly comment.
  2. Not really sure how Stage IV of Hodgkin's lymphoma rates as a whining. She's not quite an old woman, either: might make her 35th birthday, in December, but the pain is already very bad.
  3. Yeah, I find that, when completely unfit, I can run twice as far the second day as I can the first. Rapid improvement up to the first plateau.
  4. She's miming. Also, her make-up (around the mouth) makes me think of a muppet, like Sam the American Eagle, or -- better yet -- Beeker.
  5. just did a 45 minute run in the gym (over 8km / 5miles), followed by an hour of yoga. Very difficult to zone out.
  6. Again, not according to Mr Cartledge, who seems to be a (the most?) respected authority on Spartans. He is quite conservative about all his statements, especially when taken in comparison with some of his colleagues. I haven't read that widely, though (off the top of my head, his book, Tom Holland's Persian Fire, Russell's History of Western Philosophy, Graves' The Greek Myths, but the last two had almost no information on Spartans).
  7. This one is 8hrs compared to Episode 1's 5hr40".
  8. I had a legitimate reason to skip it. I went to the gym this afternoon, both to do some weights and because I couldn't read anymore.
  9. I felt like Fahrenheit 451 was a dry run of 1984. Many similar themes in a dystopian environment, but one ends happier than the other. I rather like the sad ending because it captures the hopelessness of the whole struggle. Except Nineteen Eighty-Four was published four years before Fahrenheit 451. Sins of a Solar Empire is a RTS 4X that might be okay ... has anyone heard anything else about it?
  10. Which can be given to your character through the console regardless of what version you have. Same is true for Merchant's Friend. Yes, but I got it legitimately. I can also make my PC start at fortieth level. You're just jealous.
  11. Half-Life 2: Episode Two.
  12. "Blessed of Waukeen" trait for nifty extra magic items, a (non-cloth ) map, a statuette of an Eldrich Knight, and a big, fat "Lawful Good" ring that Pixies could use for a dog collar. I think the CE has a Troll figurine with the CE ring, though I haven't opened it.
  13. Thankyou. I took her to dinner and a film last night, to try to take her mind off it. Now I'm starting to have difficulty keeping my felicitous composure. From the diagnosis, it would seem that she never went into remission eight months ago. The prognosis is poor.
  14. I gave one of the LG ones as a present.
  15. You're a zombie.
  16. Watched Sunshine last night. I didn't mind the pedestrian pace of the plot, but I did mind that, when the film takes on its final form, Danny Boyle thought it clever to use optical obfuscation to further the film's tense mood, which had the opposite effect on me. Also, I'm getting bored of (science illiterate) writers equating SF with magic reasons why characters / the universe act in prescribed (and very silly) ways. At many points through the film I could have given the actors several different solutions to the current "only one way" dilemma.

  18. To be fair, at least you can turn a walkie-talkie off.
  19. Do not concern yourself about my accommodation.
  20. Martin Luther, his 95 Theses, and the Reformation. Also, the German people regard Charlemagne as a German.
  21. Not according to Paul Cartledge's The Spartans: (This is a description of the Spartans in and around the Battle of Thermopyl
  22. Cool, I'll be in Vegas in July ...
