Ooo, five player varaint. *Dang!* I can't find the bit about who plays what in five player ... don't you just blot out Italy and Germany, or some such nonsense? -
Are you saying that Max Payne 2 would have been better without the romantic plotline? And that it flopped? Because I'm not sure I agree with either statment.

Dinosaurs did rule the Earth for three hundred million years, though. Humans and their proto-ape ancestors have only just clocked up almost a million, so the pc is set to rule the roost for a little bit longer, yet ...

Aren't you the GM of game 3? That makes you the final arbiter of the time frame ... if any of my players in game 2 screw up twice in a row then you may be offered a stand-in position there, though I'm trying to avoid that contingency. (Nartwak is stil AWOL: ten and a half days and counting ... ) -
Production cycles are six months. The next Athlons are due any day now, and they are the first generation of 64 bit CPUs that are apparently worth the extra cashola. Also, Windows 64 bit has only just been sighted on the horizon (about the only bit of the announced Longhorn product to actually be shipped with the new Windows).

Well, I suspect that a hybrid console / pc is the future: some sort of convergent super-console that we haven't seen yet. Until then, anyone who wants to spend enough cash can get better performance of their pc.
-
It already does ... Nope, as the bartender said to the piece of string, "Frayed knot". The nVidia Geforce 7800 GTX is already twice as powerful (vertex shaders and pixel pipelines) than the previous GeForce 6800 ultra, and it is available in SLI configuration, so that can be doubled up. The only limit to PC power is cash; sure the consoles are better bang-for-buck super performance at release (which is gradually narrowed by the economies of scale and relentless and remorseless evolutionary drive), but it isn't better than the bleeding edge grahics cards and components.

It might hurt ...

Make sure you do! Anarchy is not a good state for your armies ... (Two NMRs in a row = Anarchy = a Bad Thing.) But he said I could have it! He said it was mine! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am sure that, should your armies be in the neighbourhood, pixies would be obliged to let them into Paris. KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions

Yes, except building a team or gang is part of the fun, and where is the challenge if you start off with a bunch of people you don't even know? I agree that K2 did it wrong by keeping you alone for a very long time, but K1 had it right with one companion right from the beginning and then building on that. However, I'm still hoping that K3 will begin with a young jedi PC with his or her own master from the very beginning, sort of like a Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan thing, where you take the apprentice part. And stop talking about pizza - you're making me hungry! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, I wouldn't mind cutting right down on companions, at least for some of the game. Some of the best bits of K1 and K2 were solo, and considering the woeful implementation of the group combat dynamic of K2 (i.e. solo stealth mode to sneak up on a turret, and then your companions run into the fray ... ), I wouldn't mind starting off alone; or if with another, then a lengthy solo mission shortly after (maybe dual-solo missions, so that each can achieve some part of a joint goal). -

Yes, yes, yes. As a battle tactic (i.e. hiding to gain the advantage of surpirse), I can see it being useful. As a diplomatic tactic, it is also sound; but that is more a deception of intent, not of presence. Obviously, if you are outnumbered several million to one (e.g. Millennium Falcon tractored into the Death Star in ANH), and facing extirpation, then discretion is definitely the better part of valour. Or, as Yoda and Obi-Wan did at the end of RotS, a strategic retreat to regroup is essential (even Sun Tzu would approve). But outright sneaking around, like an assassin, is not a Jedi tactic. -

I guess the Non-Persistent adjectival clause in the statement "... Activision Granted Exclusive Rights to Develop and Publish Non-Persistent Role Playing Game for Console and PC Based on the Collective Universe of Marvel's Super Hero Characters ..." means it won't be the competitor to City of Heroes that was mooted previously. It could be very good, or very bad. If it is New Jersey, then perhaps the devs will make some statement (or give a hint) ...

I just tried to play System Shock 2 with the SHTUP texture mod (Beta 0.5) and it now hangs and drops back out of the game. So I shall re-install without the mod!

... and chopped up the cable down which it loaded onto your pc, then burnt the harddrive it was saved to and hit your frontal lobe with a hammer until the memory of the event was blurred, drank a bottle of pure ethanol, and finally poked out both your eyes with a blunt spoon.

I have one point: Yes, because MS has such a huge, mammoth size role in HD-DVD... HD-DVD will win, regardless. ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The jury is still out on HD-DVD versus Blu-ray: ... HD DVD is promoted by Toshiba, NEC, Sanyo, and (most recently[1]) Microsoft, and backed by four major film studios. ... New Line Cinema Paramount Pictures Universal Studios Warner Bros. ... HD-DVD initially received more studio support than Blu-Ray. One reason given for this is that it is less expensive to convert a production line from producing DVDs to HD-DVD production, than it is to convert to Blu-Ray. This early lead has vanished. As expected, Sony's subsidiaries Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM Studios have both announced their support for the Blu-ray Disc format. On 3 October 2004 20th Century Fox announced that it was joining the BDA, but has not yet decided which format to support, although it seems likely that it will be Blu-ray. On 8 December 2004 The Walt Disney Company (and its home video division, Buena Vista Home Entertainment) announced its non-exclusive support for Blu-ray. On 7 January 2005 Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) and Electronic Arts (EA Games) announced their support for the Blu-ray Disc format. ...

For the love of God, how many times must I say that Jedi don't hide! They do not pretend to be scouts or soldiers, they lead from the front. Look at Obi-Wan in AotC: straight into Kamino, lets everyone know who he is, where he's from, what he's doing. Ok, Sith and Darths might do it, but not Jedi. No sneaking around! (Except for Luke in RotJ, but that was only from Vader, and not from any combatants: that is just tactical). The preferred term is Saber-Chucks, and I say that the suggestion is pure gold. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah! (I'm sure the reason for their lack of popularity is due to the extreme consequences of any combat-related self-inflicted injuries ... ) -
