  1. Just a note to remind everyone to post WITHOUT spamming. Next time I'll disable the ability to post to the topic, leaving just the poll.
  2. The ATi X1950 Pro is the best budget card (
  3. The most important problem with this point of view (and there are several) is what you are tacitly creating: a private "organisation" ABOVE the law of the land. Terms: organisation = one or more persons acting in concert for a private agenda law of the land = the only reliable existing form of legal control of members of societies, i.e. national laws (as international law is hardly robust and certainly not reliable, as it depends on pre-arranged treaties between nations). You have just given Rupert Murdoch carte blanche to create his own self-serving global organisation and behave in any way he wants, including breaking any regional "backward" laws that stand in his nation-spanning organisation's way. So, paradoxically, your treatise to the individual over the state just creates a law of the jungle where economic might makes right. And thereby results bribery, extortion and even pork-barrelling like that of the Hezbollah in Lebanon, where the extremists are BUYING political power with cold cash. See, duty to a state works both ways: the state can protect the individual when the individuals protect the state.
  4. I see he has redfined some existing axioms:
  5. I believe it falls under contract law; if they offered him a rate in writing then they have to honour it.
  6. Maybe Greedo would have destroyed the universe by some action if saintly Han hadn't made a pre-emptive strike! It's like the neo-cons and Iraq!
  7. Okay, time to calm down.
  8. I'm just re-watching Twelve Monkeys again ... rarely I can sit through a film twice in a row.
  9. Oh, right, that was the film Gilliam based this one on (stole the final scene verbatim from it).
  10. I think the complete failure of the MMO, as well as Wheadon's militancy, will convince Fox to cut their losses (Universal produced the film), so there isn't any need to avoid the other Fox products. :D
  11. You'll need to watch the video accompaniments to descry the full working; perhaps that will help you descrive it better ..?
  12. On the "Making Of" Documentary? I'm watching it now. Sort of like subtitles for the film.
  13. Twelve Monkeys I'd forgotten how good this film is; I really dig the intricate predestination versus free-will theme.
  14. It'd be good if they did proper research, like what the Wachowski brothers did for the Matrix ...
  15. Ah, but the democratically-elected government is just enacting the will of the people (and the first duty of any government) to defend the country. Like a big straw-drawing event.
  16. My highlights. When the MMORPG fails dismally, then Fox will be more than eager to sell the rights to anyone. And then there will be a new series.
  17. I prefer the political system, personally. "
  18. I blame Kevin Costner. :D
  19. Your comment is a non-sequitur. I understand that you might take issue with what is a "just war". I don't know why you chose to denigrate the people who fought, voluntarily and under the draft, to keep the fascists from taking over the world sixty years ago (for example), or those who fought the War of Independence. (I can't be bothered to innumerate such concepts as how different the world would be had these conflicts been resolved differently. Try reading The Man in the High Castle, if you need some help.)
  20. (Check the inbedded link and you will see that the original poster started a new topic in the General section.)
  21. Shhh ... projection.
  22. You know what they say about that: you make an ass out of u and umption. I live in the UK, my father was in the Australian Sixth Division, 16th Brigade. Edit: I see you were trying to make some comment about the British control of their colonies in the North American continent, under George III. You should perhaps have targeted your reply to Calax, rather than me. Then it might have made (some) sense.
  23. this is a game. I don't think programmers ever think to include bullets into the physics engine that much. I would laugh at a bunch of guys cowering behind a wall when all of a sudden six portals pop open with a barrage of rocket fire flying at the poor guys from behind. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It still wouldn't be infinite even if you ignored the laws of physics (Jim), as every person would take some bullets, so eventually there wouldn't be any left.
