There should be a spike during the last 2-3 days (The Charge of the Procrastinators), which should be enough to reach at least the $3m goal. As for further goals, it depends on what's the deal with Fig Funds. Are they capped by Pledges (they're always right behind them, but never ahead)? If so, is it for tactical (campaign pacing) or financial reasons? If not, if it's just coincidental and they really do take so long to process (we do know that they have over $2m in reservations already), what will happen if they aren't at $2.25m on the last day? Will they keep trickling in for the weeks to come, after the campaign has officially ended, slowly putting check marks on additional goals? In that last case, Obsidian may as well include further pledges through the backer portal, too. Or they may opt to treat all post-campaign money as a bonus, to ensure everything goes right, who knows? So yeah, a bunch of "ifs" to untangle here.

good catch!. i wonder why don't they increase it to 3M? it seems there are bigger party or individuals are more interested in investing than pledge. Either some legal reasons, or there are diminishing returns involved - allowing more Investors after a point could result in negative long term balance (they will have to pay those people back from sales after all). Also, if it's like previous Fig campaigns, then at least some of the Investors will only be asked to pay a few months from now, and some may change their minds by then, so having a surplus of them is a good thing.

It's a little weird that they put all three of those into one goal, when any one of them would probably have produced quite a bit of hype from the community. Not that I am complaining. Yup, I noticed that too. I really think they were noticing the humdrum reactions to the past few stretch goals, and changed this one to me more content driven with another sublcass and extra levels. The orchestra is icing on the cake. If I were them, I would have had another simple stretch goal plus localization for $2.8m, and gone ahead and posted this update for $3m. We will be at 2.8 in no time, I think. Also, with the weekend here, they could rest easy. I'm sure they have more info that I do, and they know what they are doing. Either way, it's a great stretch goal. I'm really excited for the 3rd subclass and Orchestra, and a level 20 cap is definitely cool. They already know that the campaign will probably reach 3.5-4m in the end (esp. if the Investors really are at 2m), so where they place the goals from that range is just a formality (chances are that those 3 things will cost them more than $200k). I guess they wanted to make us happy and break the mid-campaign lull It's best to never assume anything is a sure thing. We will reach around $3.3m when the rest of the investors come into the total, but you don't want to dump all your goodies this early. Once the investors are approved its new backers and add-ons that will carry the campaign, and they will need more enticing to dump money toward the end with the investors all added in. So, I'm optimistic that you are right, but I wouldn't throw caution to the wind either. Agreed, but even if "only" 3.3m can be seen as guaranteed, that still gives them plenty of room to go creative with SGoal placement.

Perhaps the island could contain nods to various BI games? Some examples: Fallout: Adra powered armor? The GECK (one time consumable which summons a bunch of plant monsters)? A two-headed animal? The Maltese Falcon bar (recall the very last line in FO2 credits)? Torment: An incarnation of Ravel Puzzlewell? The Bronze Sphere? Divine letters B and I? Baldur's Gate: Boo? A hidden treasure chest with Golden Pantaloons? An NPC who really wants to romance the Watcher (but all options given are "no")?

I think that this counter is just showing where we're at on the journey from 20.5k to 22k backers: around 600 backers in (300 per step/dot). So there's still just the first island. As for the hidden 800k, I really hope that it's real, and not just some bored individual's attempt to sabotage the campaign...

Chanters need a redesign
mph replied to Ganrich's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Take a look at Sirin, a chanter (kinda) from Tyranny: she can begin combat with phrase counter above 0, retain phrases after the encounter, chant two songs at once(!), tank, heal, and other things. It seem that Obsidian was testing things out with her, and I think that we may get to see some of her powers in PoE 2. -
Idea: what if the blessings that raise the difficulty had a negative point cost? They could be selected on the first run, and would also allow buying some small buffs to round things off or something (I always wanted a difficulty level somewhere between Hard and PotD). Another idea: make the options for fine-tuning the difficulty (in both directions) open for everybody, and only hide meta things - like starting with companions or rare items - behind achievements or unlocks. Or at least make it really easy to cheat or mod those points in

I'd like to see some recurring NPCs other than the party members and the Big Bad. Some examples of what I mean: Archons from Tyranny. They're present throughout the entire game (a bit less on the Rebel route), which for me added a lot of texture to the world: my character wasn't the only one who really mattered. Some sort of rival (but not openly hostile) adventuring party. Maybe they save/aid your party during an early game quest, later you meet them in an inn and trade rumors and items, and later still you get to save them in turn, etc. Gollum. He also shows up now and then, he doesn't side with any faction, he gets a well developed character arc, and when left alive he ends up playing an important role in the ending. Obviously, Obsidian would need to take care that such characters wouldn't hijack the story, and that we could kill them off early on if we so choose, but I think it could be pretty neat if done right.

COUNCIL OF STARS Game Breaker
mph replied to kinead's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
This could also be an error caused by RAID or cloud-sync gone wrong. [There are some real horror stories about RAID gone wrong...] Maybe Steam is at fault, and it overwrote part of your save? If you're using Steam you may want to Google how to recover older saves from it, it may still be doable. -
[I'm keeping this baby]
mph replied to spardeous's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
No, it can even be in the stash. Here's the slide: http://oi59.tinypic.com/28lys60.jpg Maybe the quest needs to be flagged as completed? -
[BUG] PoE-TWM: Gramrfel
mph replied to Peter_Pan's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
You can't behead him 'cos there's no bounty on his head - the guy you are looking for is elswhere on the same map (in the south if I recall). -
Concelhaut's Crushing Bugs
mph replied to mph's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I guess I'll need to do two logs, one for various bugs with the missiles, and another for the Hammer? That's possible assuming some rounding, yes - the log doesn't show the math, so who knows EDIT: It seems you're right, corrode-proofing the DR 18 character reduced his per projectile damage from 14 to 13. Also, in a new test I got a sweet 1215 damage hit from the Hammer on Eder xP
