Hello there. It's that time of year again when I'm feeling the tug of nostalgia...so I'm going to be revisiting Baldurs Gate 2. However, it has been many a year since I last played it and, every now and then, I see glimpses of MOD talk around. So I hereby throw this challenge unto ye, the Obsidianites: What MODS should I download, install and play through BG2 again with, if at all any? Answers should be placed in an envelope and sealed with the juices from sweated cabbage leaves. Ta.

How do you train those militia patrols? I had the option set to on in the ini file but I could never work out how to train them ingame...

Holy crapula.

Ohhh how is the timing compared to Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday? Does it go through each separate day? Or does it do it in weeks/months/years to account for the fact that EU spans a much larger time period?

Aye, it sounds good. Just need a new graphics card now... <_<

I wasn't a fan of the story of Half Life 2 compared to Half Life 1. The story in HL1 was what got me hooked to it. It had a pretty good atmosphere as well...through most of it anyway. Whereas Half Life 2...meh...still haven't completed it.

I don't understand how a game like this would need Pixel Shader version 2.0 when other games which are far more graphically impressive don't...

Playing Oblivion (shock horror ) with loads of plugins and I'm actually enjoying it this time through... And when I'm not playing Oblivion I'm playing X-COM TFTD and loving every minute of it. This must be my 20813092183091283th replay of it. It has aged brilliantly. Like a fine piece of cheese sitting on my desk...taunting me with its' eyes...

Well... As fantastic as Firefly was (and it was), it doesn't even begin to measure up against (the new) Battlestar Galactica. (although I suppose since BSG came out after Firefly, what you're sating is technically true, it's just that even better has appeard since ) But even so, Firefly and Serenity (the movie sequel) are well worth watching. Great setting, great acting, interesting story and well developed and believable characters. Given that interplanetary travel never struck me as a speedy affair in Firefly though I wonder how they're going to deal with that. Seems like making MMORPGs out of Sci Fi TV shows is all the rage these days, with Stargate Worlds also in developments. Wonder when Star Trek will show up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There actually is a Star Trek MMORPG in the works already, and it has been in the works for some time now (IIRC). It sounds quite interesting and could well turn out to be so - if they can pull it off properly. But yeah, on topic: Firefly MMORPG?

hahaha that is brilliant. But doesn't that mean you won't be able to get access to human merchants?
-
Ohhh, that would be so cool for Dwarf Fortress Mus. Oh and Nart, it seems my problem with floodgates was that when I went to pull the lever I didn't realise it was a capital p that I had to press " Unfortunately, after I found that out it flooded most of my fortress. Have you ever tried siezing goods from merchants? I was so very tempted to sieze all the food the human merchants had because, at first, I didn't know how to trade properly with them.

Thanks for the info Nart, I'll try to sort out this floodgate business. Also, is that a bridge over the channel you have created there? I haven't found a mountain river yet...how far do you have to go into the mountain to find one? Or is it random? I'll be lucky if my current fortress survives through another winter. After the first winter my population went from 8 to 31 because of some damn immigrants. *shakes fist* Also, Musopticon? what is Falcon's Eye?

Since this is such a gem I thought I would devote an entire thread to it. Now then, to those who do not know what it is Dwarf Fortress is an ASCI (or is it ASCII or ACSI...I don't know...) game. That means the graphics are pap (if you don't believe me look in page 18 of the Pictures of your games: revolutions thread). Now, I consider myself a graphics whore so that should tell you all something about the gameplay. It's addictive. It's fun. It's endlessly replayable. Who needs Real Life

Nart old bean, you've piqued my curiosity with that screenshot. Thanks for the link. I will be viewing some of the videos for Dwarf Fortress presently. The game sounds marvellous. -

Nart, what on earth is that? -
It's her 72nd birthday tomorrow and you don't have a present for her? Get her a saxophone. Although that might be a little expensive...hmmm.... Bake her a cake. My grandparents love it when I cook and bake for them. Anyway, what I was thinking before entering this thread was: what an interesting title for a thread this is.

In a tragic miscalculation the mass of people all jumping at the same time has actually sent the Earth into a collision course with the Sun. Pray to the One True Goat and hope that He will save us.
