  1. Aussie elections coming up in a few days time. Will the locals take the chance to rid their country of this cancerous growth on the human gene pool?
  2. Watched the first four episodes of That time etc. etc. slime I didn't exactly start on a humorous note. I mean, the protagonist getting stabbed in the back and dying on the footpath, bleeding out was bad enough, but he died a virgin too it all sounds and feels a bit like a video game. Our protagonist gets reborn as a slime in a different world. No idea (yet) how or why he ended up there. He also gets bestowed a number of abilities by a female voice in the background. Pain resistance, cold resistance and so on. He also gets the ability to perceive his surroundings and the ability to produce noises (so he can communicate, like speech). He wakes up in a cave and gorges himself on a number of things in the cave, accumulating a lot of magic along the way. Turns out the magic had a source, as he shares the cave with an imprisoned dragon. They become friends and slime guy helps the dragon to escape his prison (by "eating" him. One of his new abilities is a seemingly endless stomach where things can be both stored and analyzed and new capabilities gained, depending on the results of the analysis. You are what you eat i suppose? The dragon and the slime give each other names, as names seems to be of particular importance (as show in later episodes). Slime guy is now Rimuru and the dragon Veldora. Rimuru ends up in a goblin village and helps the villagers survive an onslaught of dire wolves (by killing the pack leader) and ends up as the leader of both the goblin village and the dire wolves. Thinking it unwieldy having that many individuals around him with no name, he decides to name all the villages and also the lead dire wolf (the son of the now deceased pack leader). When he wakes up the next day, all the goblins are now bigger and stronger (and the goblin girls a lot prettier). The dire wolves have all grown to considerably larger sizes. All because of the power of names (they have now all "leveled up"). The wolves gained new power collectively, inheriting the trait from their new lead wolf. Rimuru takes the entire group of goblins and wolves to a dwarven realm, in search of artisans and craftsmen, who can teach his followers how to make clothes and build houses for themselves (because the goblin girls were a bit too scantily clad, the guys without proper weapons and armor and the hovels and huts they were living in offered little to no protection). Using his new powerful abilities to mimic and replicate things, Rimuru makes new best friends with some of the dwarves by helping them meet a sword requisition by the local lord in time. A running joke in episode 4 is Rimuru constantly fantasizing about elf girls, which are supposedly around in the city. Lets just his elf girl fantasies are... quite something Anyway, he does end up getting "rewarded" in a tavern, hanging out with some elf girls, resting his slime body on/under some overhanging boobs.
  3. So, Eurovision turned all politics again? Didn't see it. Only knew it was there because you guys brought it up. Consider yourself all warned! Last time I saw Eurovision live was when Abba won with 'Waterloo' To be fair to me, it was also the only thing showing on the only available (state run) TV channel at the time...
  4. Don’t jinx it, don’t order anything “on the rocks” Ice belongs in the arctics, it’s the natural habitat for it, not in colourful drinks
  5. Echo chambers are not limited to social media either... it has been around at least since The First Punic War (much to Carhage's detriment).
  6. Something unknown and different (for me at least). I blame the arcane workings of the Youtube algorithms /warding sign
  7. Seriously Bruce... go get yourself a blow up doll that looks like Uncle Sam
  8. I think two things prevented me from ever seriously consider buying my own home. When I was younger, I never expected to live to grow old and when I completely failed at that and got older, I just never could stay put in one place. Longest I ever lived in a place (since moving out of my parents place) was 5 years. Typically living 1-3 years in a place before moving state/country/continent/whatever
  9. True. The journalist in this case was actually a US citizen Forensic investigation has started to determine who fired the killing shot... who knows, maybe the truth will actually be established eventually in this case (leaving the internet court of law without a job!) https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/05/12/world/al-jazeera-journalist-killed-west-bank
  10. Did I mention I needed some lighthearted comedy for a bit?.... looks like I found something that has complete seasons. That time I got reincarnated as a slime. Milim is quite the character...
  11. ...could face up to 15 years in jail... please tell me that's a joke? Unprovoked killing of civilians deserves more than that. Because he was afraid he would be charged with car theft? If that's for real, Then I suspect the draftees in the Russian army are... never mind. Maybe a few gene pools needs improving?
  12. Based on historical precedent, I suspect the only crime a Russian soldier would ever be prosecuted internally (and shot) for, is cowardice (even if having to attack a Ukrainian tank position alone... barehanded...)
  13. Effectively yes. For the same reason it would be pointless to prosecute say US servicemen for war crimes (the US governments stand being **** off). The reality of it is, with few notable exceptions, war criminals only gets successfully prosecuted AND punished if their side lose badly enough to host enemy occupation forces. An example of an exception is the Aussie guy who got prosecuted *despite* the Morrison government trying to prevent it. But the little free press that exists, despite being raided by Morrison's goons in the federal police, successfully managed to stir up enough attention, that action was taken. It was not someone from the war zone or an international tribunal that managed it, nor was it with the current governments consent. But, sometimes justice gets lucky I suppose...
  14. Go back and reread my answer. It was not about morality, but about practicality.
  15. I wonder about the similarities to the issue in the US with the use of the CSA flag (and the battle flag). While technically the national flag of a sovereign country, it has so many "other" meanings today, that it gets complicated. I do think most people using it today are using it for its provocative effect rather than any sense of CSA nationalism. Much easier back in my old country. The danish flag was given to the Danish king by God himself during a battle in some overseas heathen country in 1219. Combining a sense of moral superiority with profit and land grabs. With Divine blessing no less. Edit: It has been the national flag since 1219 iirc.
  16. BBC picked up on the story too... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-61403320 Another Palestinian journalist, Al Jazeera producer Ali Samoudi, was shot in the back and was in a stable condition in hospital, the health ministry added. "We were going to film the Israeli army operation and suddenly they shot us without asking us to leave or stop filming," Al Jazeera cited Mr Samoudi as saying. "The first bullet hit me and the second bullet hit Shireen. "There was no Palestinian military resistance at all at the scene," he added. Video of the shooting showed Abu Aqla was wearing a blue flak jacket clearly marked with the word "press", as well as a helmet. --- It wouldn't be the first time the Israeli military targets Al Jazeera (it wasn't that long ago the Israeli airforce targeted one of their buildings, killing some Associated Press people too). They must really hate those pesky reporter reporting on life in the West Bank and the Gaza strip.
  17. Some people have an undying sense of humour...
  18. As much as I would love to see the next Fallout game from Obsidian, I can understand MS's reasoning. The longer nothing happens, the more the public "gets out of touch" with a franchise. Keep the hype up so to speak and Obsidian is still a medium size studio at best, with limited capacity. Edit: With the potential of nukes getting involved in the war in Ukraine, you never know, the next Fallout game may be more relevant in a central European setting
  19. We're all doomed... https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/apr/23/world-imf-forecasts-economic-growth Sadly, a recent Bloomberg article (mid April) I read is behind a paywall, but the tl;dr; was about the world economy faltering and the US inflation competing with SpaceX on who can leave Earths orbit the fastest (US inflation hitting 8.5% recently, which is *not* healthy). Main causes (according to Bloomberg) were twofold, first the war in Ukraine (and the sanctions) and second, China's zero covid policy with incessant lockdowns and the resulting bottlenecks for the worlds supply chains. Of course, Bloomberg may have no clue what the're talking about. I'm fully convinced the next global financial crisis, which was going to make a mockery of the 2009 one, was due in 2020. Unfortunately covid struck and the world economies went to hell anyway, with nobody the wiser (that it would have happened without covid, for different reasons). This also means, those underlying causes are still there, because they never got addressed, as covid will get the credits for wrecking economies...
  20. On the topic of small front men/women with big voices, I nominate Klaus Meine (163cm) from Scorpions and Bruce Dlckinson (168) from Iron Maiden. Impressive voices in tiny bodies...
  21. Just a footnote, Crunchyroll is up and rolling again (ta dah!). Looks like Sony owns the Crunchyroll/Funimation merger and operates it as Crunchyroll
  22. I need to mix it up a bit, I still have the link(s) your shared That one is over twenty episodes of "serious" drama, so I need some easy to digest stuff on both sides of it... Edit: Skeleton knight isn't complete yet, so I think I'll just watch a handful episodes of Dropkick on my Devil Dash (second series) first, the switch to 'Your Lie in April' (Dropkick doesn't really bear binge watching, as fun as it is)
  23. Watched 'A silent voice'. A beautiful story, where I would say the media used for delivery is less important than the story and it just happened to be an anime. I believe it could have been a live action movie or a novel and it would still have been a beautiful story... After that, I do need something more light hearted. Easy laughs and scantily clad girls I think... Skeleton Knight in Another World looks like fun.
  24. There are always exceptions of course. Einsteins brain makes for interesting study because of it's abnormalities
