  1. Thats the one. We offered them good bribes, but they never would reveal their Lababdar recipe Having fond memories of Diwali festivals.
  2. I was a bit disappointed with Daawat when I was there the last time about a year ago. The curry was still great and they still make the best Naan in the southern hemisphere, but they've changed the look of the place. Almost posh. I miss the ramshackle, slightly worn look of the old Daawat.
  3. Short version, you have two regions, each with a significant ethnic group who doesn't get along with the ethnic group of the nation state they are part of and the vast majority doesn't want to be part of that nation state. Where the similarities ends is in the strategic interest of "the western world". Georgia's only redeeming feature is its strategic location, hosting the oil pipelines going from Baku to the Mediterranean area. It sure isn't because of it's democratic traditions that Georgia is popular to support (it's about as democratic as Zimbabwe, i.e. not very). Edit to add: This image brought to you by CIA (without their knowledge) showing my point: Nobody really cares about Abkhasia, only South Ossetia. The map sort of shows why hint: The blue line is the oil pipeline.
  4. I have The Stone Prisoner and the that ugly Blood Armour thing that came with Dragon Age. That game really rammed the point home that I would never ever spend a single cent on DLC (I still want to slap the guy who put that neon sign in my night camp with a trout). Heck, it even made me vary of buying expansion packs now (never got that one for DA either). I hope The Witcher will take a different path. Even if the game isn't as good as the first one, it scores a few points up front by being DLC free. Just waiting to hear the QTE and minigames verdict before (pre)ordering
  5. It's still funny how standards change though. Everybody lined up in the queue to support the Albanian seperatists in their seperation efforts, yet when South Ossetia wanted to do the same thing from Georgia, everybody screamed bloody murder and NOWAI. Hypocrisy at its most disgusting
  6. It even rained in South Australia... I got wet Rain is normally something I associate with Sydney dammit, never been to Sydney without getting more or less drowned by showers, summer or winter. My one and only umbrella (which South Aussies think is something to protect yourself against the sun with) was bought in a small convenience store years ago in Sydney, when finally learning that lesson. It has been been unusally cold and stormy here for a couple of weeks, but now things looks like a return to "normal" over the holidays. It had that rather wintery feel to it for a long time there. Saves a lot of electricity though
  7. Yeah, oh boy, that's dirt cheap. I paid $110 for DA1 plain vanilla version (that's 82 EUR and 109 USD)
  8. Gorth replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
That was... bizarre Not bad, but weird. Like watching the sun rising in the west.
  9. Some things are only fun when it happens to others
  10. Wild guess time... Sheppard is going to find the "Creators" who build the Reapers and ask them nicely for the shutdown sequence code?
  11. Underrated by reviewers, underrated by gamers or underrated by "the market" (sales figures)? Alternate Reality by Datasoft, Carriers at War by SSI, Fort Apocalypse by Synsoft, Lords of Midnight by Beyond, Reach for the Stars by SSG, Twin Kingdom Valley by Bug-Byte... The world has just as much underrated games as it has overrated games
  12. I don't know about Reapers, but as long as I can get a Krogan and a Salarian, people can keep their Asaris, Turians, Volus, Quarians, Elcor and what have you
  13. Getting a bit long. Shiny new thread here
  14. Start of old thread End of old thread Effects for the masses... just what the Doctor(s) ordered
  15. Party game time... guess who is employed as what Depression/Job relationship
  16. Begone you intellectually inferior peon, you... at least post a link to Brahms or Liszt I wish I could write a formula for what makes me like a game and what not. I can list individual rules for likes and dislikes (mingames and QTE is teh suck, tactical combat good etc.), but not a complete recipe. Some games have just about awful everything, yet the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
  17. A bit of off-topic-ness pruned. I thought there was a related thread already, but it seems past it's best by date. Edit: A bit old indeed
  18. Vikings, nomadic tribes, AND lumberjacks. I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay I sleep all night and I work all day... I don't know enough about Elder Scrolls to guess what kind of society/people live in "Skyrim", but the trailer looked like something from Dragon Age trying to string previous Elder Scroll games together in some kind of coherent time line
  19. Did I mention I love you? I'm going to assign you your own dungeons.
  20. Looks wicked! But if thats the jul goat, who was was guy who lives in a mountain in the far north and ate people every day except for one night of the year? That reminds me that I need to find Dead Snow some day. Amazon probably has it.
  21. "ティム・ウィン(SMA作曲家)はCWのTVシリーズ「スーパーナチュラル」の他にも「レッドファクション:ゲリラ(THQ)」「 コマンド&コンカー(EA)」,「 Dungeon Siege 3 (スクエアエニックス)などのゲーム音楽も担当。" Ehh... Help?
  22. Their own fault for believing his promises of "labour law reforms"
  23. Umm, Batista was a military dictator that rose to power through a military coup. The "strawmen" he appointed as pro-forma presidents needed the backing of the US in order to get the job, until he gave up all pretenses of election and became dictator also in name. Unless of course you consider his old friends like Lucky Luciano etc. to be communists. In the end he was just a tool for US companies exploiting the Cuban economy.
