  1. That looks awesome! Brings back a lot of good memories from the first game. I dont suppose the game has grown up a bit and introduced penetration tables? Either way I think I will have to pick this up. Men of War reminded my a lot of the Sudden Strike series, but what I loved about Sudden Strike was there were set reinforcements, unlike Men of War where both sides keep getting reinforcements as thier territorys perpetually counted up points for more troops. The offense, then defend against counter attack then back on offense again with both sides getting scripted amount of troops made for some intense battles.
  2. About a 3rd the way through Dark Sun Shattered Lands. I remember reading the first Dark Sun book that came out in the early 90's and I forgot how refreshing the setting is. The combat is well implemented, and for a game made in 93' I was surprised to see right clickable tool tips for all weapons and spells.
  3. Ha! I saw that too and thought the same thing. Someone also asked him to release the source code for people that want to use his engine, which would be cool. I have on occasion dreamed of doing art assests for a first person dungeon crawler.
  4. Caveman, all conversations are done through emojis. Being from Texas I would love to see a realistic or fantasy based off the Texas Rangers and the Texas-Indian wars with the Commanche, it could cover Texas Independance parallel to the back and forth struggle with Commancharia.
  5. In Wizardry 6 and 7 I think you had to create the whole character everytime you wanted to reroll the stats, so it is an improvement I cant wait to play this game, it looks awesome. Dude really shot himself in the foot concerning the bungled updates and subsequent review drop.
  6. I dont buy digital games for my PS3, it sorta defeats the purpose. I have all my GOG games backed up on an external HD and also burned onto DVD's, along with my original Win 7 DVD installer. I also have a PS1, PS2 and PS3, but the 2 and 3 both play ps1 games so that stays in the box. I quit buying most games on Steam after having a game I was really enjoying force an update on me and make changes I did not care for, now its used primarily to play multiplayer games. I was impressed with the Pillars release when they gave thier game an actual exe. instead of sending me some Steam or GoG key, every other kickstarter broke thier promise and at best force you to get your game through GoG.
  7. I keep telling myself to wait for GoG release and a manual, but I feel the pull of this wonderful looking Wizardry clone. My biggest problem with Wizardry VI and VII was you needed a notebook handy just to play, and I can see from the pics that Grimoire has annotated map feature. It would be nice if it had a vitual notebook too as well as some class requirement charts or refrence cards. You can tell it took 20 years to make with the art, some of the creatures have that old school charm style wise and then others, like the gang at the beginning, look contemporary in the way they were drawn and colored.
  8. Started my second playthrough of SMT Nocturne. I figured I should play something to keep me from buying Grimoire until it gets a GOG release. Still, discovering Grimioures world before all the guides come out is very tempting. I beat Nocturne the first time, but I did not invade hell so Im looking forward to that and getting a different ending. I chose the neutral path like a chump the first time through. Im into new game plus with my Amazon in Dragons Crown. Once I figured out how to turn off the NPC characters I really started enjoying the game. Easy to pick up, do a few rounds and put down.
  9. The system is serviceable, not great. Exploration is the selling point, but the combat is decent enough (especially in later games) to make it worthwhile. The enemies and battles can get quite varied, but frequently your character will do the same things over and over again, especially if they're a summoner. It's a somewhat loose class based system, where your classes give you advantages on skills everyone can take. There are three archetypes to aim for here: warrior, spy-mage, or summoner. The spy mages used ranged weapons and a lot of magical spells, particularly damage. The warriors use physical weapons and self-buffs. The summoners obviously summon creatures and also buff. Maintaining a summoned creature takes a permanent chunk out of your mana, and you can unmake them to get it back. As you explore, trainers and canisters (that rewrite your DNA) can improve your summons, eventually letting you summon an upgraded type of creature. However, creatures level up if you keep them alive, which can make them substantially stronger, so there's a neat tension between summoning new creatures and leveling up old ones. I you could only play one, which one would you play? I read a long time ago 3 was really well done... or maybe it was 4. For setting I would like to see a Medieval Europe dominated by a Vampire caste that came to power 200 year earlier. Thier power has weakened with the coming of the Plague. Do our heroes help the Vampire lords they serve, or betray them for thier own kind.
  10. Dark Angel! I was more thinking Geneforge. If you haven't played it, the graphics are crap but the writing and exploration of the series is fantastic. It's one of the standout rpg series of the last 20 years. I have looked at them a couple times, hows the combat?
  11. The Thirty Years Wars set in an apocalyptic future from the perspective of the Catholic Church.
  12. I watched the new War and Peace mini series and thoroughly enjoyed it. I havent enjoyed a new series since Stranger Things so this was nice.
  13. Started another play through of the Last of Us. I bought the special hard difficulty DLC awhile back and Im finally getting around to playing it. Its good and the difficulty is refreshing, I am now trying to survive and chronically short on supplies. The game also has one of my favorite multi player matches of all time. 4v4 with this interesting mix of stealth and brute force, its only downside is its p2p, the multiplayer was an after thought and wasnt expected to be so popular, at least from what I hear.
  14. Playing Might and Magic VI- the Mandate of Heaven for a second time. I never finished my first play through a couple years ago. I probably had 60 hours into the game and felt like I was only half way through it. I tried to pick back up where I left off but its an expansive game and I was completely lost so I restarted. Amazing game though, and Im playing it with a steam controller this time so I can relax on the coach while I play. Oh and I finally beat Dungeon Siege III and its DLC on local co op with my brother. We switched the difficutly to hard early on for more challenge, though the DLC section was exhausting on hard. Took about 4 years of me visiting a couple times a year for weekend game jams. Great co op game and I cant believe it didnt do better, it seemed the natural evolution from the Dark Alliance type of game for the PS2.
  15. The reason why I hate Steam is because I don't want to lease my games, I burn my gog games to discs to save them for the future, something I can't do with Steam. Even though it might be unlikely, if Valve collapses from Gabens bingeing on their tax-forms because he felt peckish, or something else, you won't be able to play your games. I also despise the fact that I can't get rid of Steam games that I don't like or want, because they're locked to my account so selling the discs to someone is of no use. Same here, the final straw for me is the auto updates that force changes on you. I can understand it in multiplayer games but not in singleplayer. I just use steam now for multiplayer games and the occasional exclusive.
  16. Yes it seems our whole political system has been subverted by big money, which is slowly becoming synonymous with Globalist. Even the press, our government watchdogs, have long turned into mere mouthpieces for one side of the government or the other. The fact that Obama did his best to sabotage Trumps presidency on his way out says to me they had nothing concrete on the guy because if they did Obama could have used it before the election, unless what HE was doing was illegal. Everything else seems a smear campaign to distract the Repubs from making much ground with thier new found power. Just more power struggles and hypocrisy at the expense of the American people...
  17. Dishonor! His impetuous nobles would not hear of it.
  18. Uncanny X-men- The 80's team. Would make a great dungeon crawler.
  19. When did they decide this? Why change it? if someone wanted to play with five characters instead of six they could already do that in the previous game.
  20. So I installed my disc version of the game a while back, I am happy with the game but can anyone say if updating to current build is worth it? I honestly often hate updates because they always screw with the balance of the game, a balance I am usually quite happy with.
  21. I think Darklands had some really cool cities. The cities are a bit more abstracted than most games but there was a curfew at night, and interesting things to do like trying different ways to sneak into the city to avoid the toll, breaking into places, visiting the Cathedrels in search of prayers, there was just a ton to do. The different factions were cool too, the Hanseatic league, the Toutonic Knights, The Archbishops and Nobles. Really cool stuff, the places felt alive.
  22. I havent bought a Total War game since Rome II. I loved Shogun II even if the fights were over too fast. How is this one? One of my favorite games is Warhammer Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen, and I honestly have a hard time imagining CA doing a better job.
