  1. So? Legally it's not their property, but it de facto is. Are you going to start living in denial as Volo, too? I wasn't proposing anything, for starters. And the fact that she doesn't lash out against them in that particular article doesn't mean she doesn't anywhere else. It's not an open "GG!" declaration, so its validity as a support to your argument is nil. You can read whatever you want from it, but the facts are that there is not a single hint of approval or admiration in that communique, or whatever it is. You are just twisting it to support your untenable stance. Good luck with that.
  2. Heh. All MMORPGs have that sort of EULA. It covers the developer's ass in case some dumb fuc/< tries to sue them in the event of a server reset, for instance. The EULA doesn't prevent players from selling their virtual property rights over assets or even entire accounts on Ebay. Nice try. As for the second quote, uh, still I don't see Mirial going "GG!". All it says is that she hasn't quit EVE. A coherent decision for someone that stupid, really.
  3. Heh, heh. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Seriously, it's just the name for an early Starforce protection cracker. Specifically, that one was used to break BL's NO-CD protection before the NO-CD patch was released. Starforce is one of the nastiest protections (if not the nastiest), installing loads of crap drivers on your system and demanding that you disable any virtual drives. There are even some reports that the latest versions can even damage your DVD drive. I guess the "scene" wasn't very happy with li'l SF, so they gave that name to the cracker. What? You were expecting it to be smut? Good God man, how could you think that of me? I made sure I had cleaned all that before taking the screenshot!
  4. "Sorry sir but mistah Authrity ain' here now, Im his manservant Perkins, sir. But am sure 'ed agree with ya if he was 'ere" ^_^ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Zing.
  5. OMFG IE u n00b!!1 *ahem* Here's mine.
  6. Um, have you ever managed to log off reality? If so, what substance did you specifically use as a catalyst? Um, so? It can be argued that some of the assets stolen and/or destroyed could actually be more valuable than what they are worth in in-game currency, as it's often the case with rare items in MMORPGs. Dragon Sword anyone?
  7. Links, plz. Either that or STFU. ) Which doesn't mean they are happy with what happened. From the 10 people who were asked about their thoughts on the matter for the article, 5 of them were flat out against. IIRC only 2 or 3 thought it was "cool". So, yeah. Read the article again. The economic damage has been equivalent to some $16k. Yes, that's RL currency. You obviously haven't understood a word of what's being discussed here. It would make no difference at all, if said "police force" had used the same metagaming emotional scam tactics that the GHSC used to carry out their hit. It would still suck. In a scary, yet rather pathetic way.
  8. Right. You have finally realized that you are going to burn in hell despite all your attempts to be a good Christian, haven't you?
  9. Yeah. Now all we need to do is convince the admin to implement it into the board code...
  10. Right. I should not pick on you just because your reading comprehension skills are severely impaired. I guess it's not your fault. My apologies.
  11. Yeah, I don't know why it does that. My solution is just saving the new pic in a different format (ie if the old one was JPG, save the new one as GIF) and then trying to upload it. Alternatively, get one of those free image hosting accounts and link to an URL instead. That always works.
  12. You know, it sometimes pays to think before you post. It also helps to read the article first. Not that I expect you to do either, as you would no longer be the Magical Volo.
  13. Pretty much. Even if the devs wanted to crack down on such practices, I don't see any feasible means to do it. However, this is not like the "violence in games = violence in RL" discussion. Those people probably had a "distinct" personality that has allowed them to carry this out before they started playing, I agree. But the game has acted as a catalyst, undoubtedly. Those people were exercising real social skills. The sad thing is that this game effectively acted as a trainer for their sort of emotional scam. Probably, these guys are more adept at having fake personalities than they were before. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but that is not the kind of people I'd like to have as co-workers.
  14. Of course. I SO could use better backstabbing skills in my common everyday life.
  15. I didn't recall the chef vorts. But I guess it's a nice detail, as in we don't take ourselves too seriously. But now they come out and say HL2 is supposed to be scary. Give me a break. And um, yeah. I sure like mysteries. But also I am full aware of the difference between a mystery and a plot hole (or lack thereof). " No, you're not the only one. However, chances are slim that it will happen. You see, OF was developed by Gearbox, not Valve. While this doesn't mean they can't make it, it probably means they aren't as attached to the characters and events of that expansion as they are to the original game or the new characters they have created. I hope I'm wrong though.
  16. No, it's you who doesn't get what I'm talking about. I'm perfectly fine with losing and winning, ripping other players off, scamming, and all that jazz. IF and only IF it is done within the boundaries of the game mechanics. Of course most players in the receiving end would be like "gg". But I didn't mean that part of the receiving end. This most likely involved OOC sucking up, lies, and duplicity. And it most certainly has involved OOC gloating. That part of the receiving end I have a hard time believing is like "gg". For that is called betrayal, pal. And it's neither nice, nor considered fair play (even in a game that encourages this kind of backstabbing). I don't care if she deserved it or not, I don't care if she had done it herself before. If that is indeed the case, it's only proof that that community is even more rotten than the article shows, and to what depths will those people sink to pursue their virtual vendettas or take over others' virtual fortunes. Perhaps the game motto is "Trust No One", but I haven't seen that anywhere so far. And that's not the kind of friendly community spirit that most MMORPG devs are after. But yeah, perhaps I'm just another Worried Christian Parent who "doesn't get the game". Yeah, that must be it. Sorry, I hear there is a mob forming in front of Rockstar right now, and I wouldn't miss it for all the Bibles in the world. Catch ya later.
  17. Man, where do you get this stuff?
  18. I doubt you'd have that opinion if it was you on the receiving end.
