Right, and the number of defenders on the ships are significantly higher than the number of listed unkillable defenders. Thus the question about whether grapeshot is working.

I'd also like an answer to this question. I have grapeshotted the enemy crew and still seem to face a full complement. Like there will be 1/5 above-deck crew and 5 below-deck crew and theres 11 guys shooting me the instant I board.

Not this s...stuff again. In general I've found that any time someone uses the acronym "SJW" in a non-ironic way there is a 97.3% that everything they say can be safely ignored. This rule of thumb has served my blood pressure well. Unfortunately if everyone were to follow this rule it means that a bunch of misogynstic, transphobic, homophobic garbage would go unrebutted. Lots of good stuff! The Cipher blunderbuss nerf was badly needed. No change to Mental Binding though? Guess 90% of all casts by my cipher will remain Mental Binding!

Petrify is the key. Makes it easy to hit and damage goes directly to health.

Mental Binding needs a BIG nerf. You don't necessarily need to tweak cipher starting focus. You just need to make it so that you don't generate focus with every Blunderbuss pellet. Does anybody *not* use a blunderbuss on their cipher?

Yes, I believe your Hiravias is high enough level that his low level spells have switched to per-encounter use.

Don't you people have better things to do than go on and on about this non-story? Maybe play some Pillars of Eternity? Watch some TV? I dunno, stare at a wall?

Ok. I assume the same thing happens when any other character has the "bonus level X spell" talent or an item which grants the same, but I don't currently have any of those to check.

Oh, I could not reproduce the bug with Damage Resistance Ichthyic, only with bonus spells per level. Maybe I dont have the correct items. But the bonus spells is easy to see and easy to reproduce.

I don't have a dropbox account but I'll make one in a bit if I need to upload the saved game, but I've identified how to reproduce the problem. It occurs when you save/load games UPSTAIRS in Brighthollow while Hiravias is not in your party (ie he's in his room where he waits when not in your group) he gets 1 level 1 spell for every save/load. It's the same bug as before except it only occurs upstairs at Brighthollow (not in Stormwall Gorge where he is originally recruited) when Hiravias is NOT in your party, and only for the bonus 1st level spell talent. So it appears there is one special, unlikely to occur case of the same bug as before that still needs to be squashed. I just happen to have saved my game a bunch of times upstairs at Brighthollow while Hiravias wasn't in my party ;x

Ichthyic: The save/loading thing causing bonuses to keep stacking was fixed in the patch. So this must be a new bug. I also left Hiravias at the keep and this happened after I picked him up. Maybe they squashed the bug in most areas but forgot to do so for companions at the keep?

I don't know what caused this but in my current game Hiravias at level 6 can currently cast 11 first level spells per rest. I believe he should be able to cast 5. 4 base and 1 because he has the "extra first level spell" talent. I have no idea why he can cast so many spells. I'm supposed to upload a saved game but the save files are 2.5mb and the forums do not allow uploads of more than 1 mb. This seems like an oversight on Obsidian's part!

I agree that having the first-level phrases shorter than the later ones is wrong. It makes it a bad idea to use anything but the first level stuff.

How would you guys fix Mental Binding? Changing its cast speed would be one obvious tweak. Range as well or is that too much?

I agree about Mental Binding. I have a ton of abilities and 95% of the time it's just... Mental Binding.

The companions are now perfectly serviceable on Hard difficulty (except maybe for Grieving Mother). PotD was always going to require making your own.

I always say that and it drives people like the original poster mad. You have no business complaining about the difficulty if you're not playing on easy. Everybody wants to feel like they're an above average player which means that bad players want Hard to be easier so they can play it.
