A couple people have said that Eder makes a decent tank. Can somebody explain how, exactly? Dude has a combined 21 in the core tank skills of Perceptions and Resolve. As far as I can tell *none* of the companions make a decent tank and only Pellegrino (yeah I know, but its all I can see when I read her name) makes even a mediocre tank. I'm doing Hard/Expert for my playthrough and right now I feel like I have to make my PC the tank if I don't want a major struggle. Am I incorrect? Wow, Grieving Mother's stats are... I don't even know the word. It's like darts were thrown at a random list of numbers! What exactly is she good at?

Ah, I see; yeah the +1 Resolve from Aedyr background is baked in when you are selecting your attributes, so you need to keep in mind that if you intend on a different background your Resolve will actually be one lower than what you see on that screen. You're right that's not a bug but it is a design flaw. You should pick background before assigning attribute points.

Can someone verify this one for me? As far as I can tell the +1 to various attributes you get for choosing a background nation do not get correctly applied. Or rather you lose a point of Resolve when you select the new background because you are deselecting the default background at the same time... but the +1 Resolve bonus from the default background is not actually given to your base stats. You can check this yourself. Write down the stats you choose. Pick a background. Add the appropriate stat. Check your stats before you hit ACCEPT after picking a name. You will have one less stat point than you should have, probably in resolve. Unless I'm crazy.

I'm playing on Expert mode so I don't see requirements for conversation checks and so on. Can someone tell me a few details about how they work? Does it use the character with the highest stat for the check or always your PC? Like if there is a conversation check for Int 16 and your PC has 12 but one of your party members has 18 can you select that conversation option? Does it matter which character is selected when you initiate the conversation?

It would be crazy to make a major patch over the first weekend after releasing Thursday night. Hopefully we'll see it soon now that it is Monday. The question I have is why so many games are released at the end of the week since it makes just this kind of thing more likely. Why not release the game on Monday morning so that you can patch early?

Druid's spiritshift problem with stats
AgentTBC replied to velh's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Does it happen in other locations besides the starting one? Like in the caves. -
Hard mode is too easy.

Yeah those are all bugged. I hope Obsidian knows about this one and is fixing it! -

Make sure you check their resistances and stuff too. The attributes like Might and so on are the easiest and most obvious to see but stuff like Deflection or Reflexes also increase over time, can have even greater effects, and can be less obvious. I mean, can you say for certain if a Reflex score of 50 is bugged or not? Maybe it should be 40. Are you sure either way? -

I asked in another thread for a workaround. The workaround is apparently "don't save the game in locations you hire NPCs". Thanks for the tip, buddy. -
I'm starting over again since my party has been affected by the bug where loading saved games in various locations boosts up your stats to high levels (after restarting because of the other bug where equipping armor wrong causes a problem). Does anyone know how to avoid this bug? I don't want it to happen again. Is the only way to avoid it to refrain from ever saving the game in major locations where you've recruited party members? Secondly, some people have reported it has happened to their PC and I'm not sure how to avoid that one.
