  1. Think of Nihilus as a "force vampire". You drains the force from force sensatives, but since you are a "hole" in the force, he expends power to feed off of you, but gets nothing, and is left weakened.
  2. I thought I'd just throw this in here:
  3. And how long has it been since LA actually MADE a good game? I respected them when they made the first four games on the list, but you can't give them credit for KOTOR -- they simply liscenced and published the game, they didn't make it. LA has become far more concerned with making as much money as possible than with making games, and it shows.
  4. I beg to differ: "This is CNN." :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On the one hand, we have the Dark Lord of the Sith. On the other hand, we have CNN. Sorry, but I'm taking the Sith Lord. I can always watch MSNBC for my liberally biased news (and then switch to Fox, for more conservativly biased news, and try to cobble the reality together from that)
  5. You can delete your own posts.
  6. Russia lost a massive numbers of people in WWII -- Stalin sacrificed soldiers and civilians like fodder, and the Nazi ideals led to cruel treatment of Slavic peoples, who they considered to be subhuman; the SS had no qualms about butchering Russians as necessary, though they often went for Jews first, as Slavs were "good enough" for slave labor.
  7. Assuming that GL actually wants to do a remake, I'd be all for it if they were as good or better than the origional 3. The only thing that needs to stay is James Earl Jones' voice as Vader -- nothing tops that. However, given the fact that GL can't write or direct worth anything, (not to mention makes poor casting decisions -- why he chose the actor for Anakin in episode II that he did, I don't know, but it was the wrong choice) I'm not optismistic that he would make anything worthwhile.
  8. If Obsidian's restoring cut content, let them take their time. More time == a better job and more content restored.
  9. As far as good will goes, this can only help Obsidian. While it's true that Lucas will just be SOL, and in my opinion has a relativly poor repuation for a good reason (compare them now to when they were making games like the Dig, TIE FIghter, and Grim Fandango), this will restore faith in Obsidian. TSL is great, but adding cut content can only make their fans appreciate them even more or turn reluctant fans back. Simply put, there are going to be people who, for example, went and bought TSL the day it came out that won't do the same for KotOR III because of the cut content -- restoring it probably won't change that, but it certainly will make these customers more likely to buy future Obsidian products, since they know that if Obsidian, for whatever reason, slips up, they are willing to fix it.
  10. I'm sorry, but I simply can't support the notion that a game should be reduced in quality to make room for a sequal, especially when it's based on nebulous notions about what may or may not be included for content. TSL might have Carth and/or Bastilla depending on your choices of Revan, and given the number of NPCs in KotOR I, that should be an indicator, if nothing else, that the number of NPCs in a previous game is meaningless. Obsidian built a great sequal to a game that wasn't set up for one in any way; it's only real downfall is the excellent content that was cut, content that would have improved the game greatly. TSL sets the stage for KotOR III far better than KotOR I set the stage for TSL, including cut conversations, such as the one between Visas and Mandalore. If Obisidan can make a sequal of this calibur, despite its flaws (and which can only improve if/when the cut content is restored), to a game that had no build up for a sequal what so ever, then they, or another developer of equal skill, can make KotOR III an excellent game with the foreshadowing and plot developments of TSL. And, for additional evidence, I will refer to BG II, which was a great game even though it had almost no ties to BG I and no direct tie to the Bhaal Spawn at all (your divine status made you a candidate for Irenicus' attentions, but that was incidental to the Bhaal Spawn prophecies themselves).
  11. I'm going to have to disagree with this. Not even counting Jar Jar, the prequels aren't as good as the first three. The Phantom Menace had too much of a "Jesus Complex" around it, with the prophecy and the immaculate conception, and metaclorians are simply a stupid idea. The Force was better as purse mysticism/religion. The other elements of the movie were alright to a certain degree, but nothing special, and the race was lackluster -- I certain enjoyed The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi much more. The only thing that made this movie mediocre was Liem Neeson, and my high opinion of his acting probably modified my opinion of the movie away from the objective. IMO, the only reason this made it into the theaters is because it had Star Wars slapped on the front of it. Attack of the Clones was about as inspired as a James Bond movie, and the actor playing Anaking was not very good. He was a preatty face who came off as spoiled more than conflicted, not to mention the almost chalky romance -- it felt rehersed, forced to a degree, like the average Tom Cruise performance, but worse, something quite damning for a movie that spends most of its time exploring emotions (those between Amidala and Anakin, and the precursors of Anakin's fall). The only saving grace of the movie was the final battle scene, particularly with Yoda. Overall, it was saved by its franchise more than anything else.
  12. I'd been looking for that statement; I'd seen it refered to in a few places. It will be excellent if cut content is restored. However, I must agree that holding much hope in the possiblity isn't wise at the moment. The post was deleted, after all.
  13. Just because it was derived from a weasel-like creature doesn't mean that's the whole connotation it carries... 'bitch' is technically just a female dog, too. ;s <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True, but "bitch" implies a total devalution of a person (in this case, a woman in particular) to the general value of a dog. Calling someone a "weasel" doesn't carry the same negative connotations in US and/or Western culture, and since this is a story being read by people in and/or influenced by US and/or Western culture, it loses it's edge to refer to a weasel like creature without the implication that it refers to it in such a way as be of similarly insulting value as the word mentioned above. This is Lucas here, so I doubt that is the case. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Calling a guy a "weasel" is probably worse than calling a chick a "bitch". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't see why you reach that conclusion. You can call someone a weasel on a kids show, but "bitch" is considered a curse word. The latter is considered inherently vulgar, while the latter is not. They aren't in the same leage, as far as explitives go. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> More vulgar? Yes, technically. More humiliating on the other hand? No way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's just because vulgar words have become common place enough that they really aren't that impressive anymore. No one uses "weasel" anymore. In all reality, to shock people, you have to use explitives so horrific that they cause the victim's ears to bleed.

  15. It has already probably been mentioned, but the origional Cut Ending Content thread has made an appearance at the bottom of Penny Arcade recently. I don't know when they'll change articles, but you can see it at http://www.penny-arcade.com
  16. But Force Enlightenment tunrs me into an unbeatable Sith killing machine. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not when you don't have time to reach me before I hit you with a never ending chain of Force Crushes.
  17. That monkey picutre was hysterical. But, to answer the OP: True or false: an orange?

  19. I also found the Dark Side Corruption and Light Side Enlightenment to be out of place. The descriptions basically say for both that these powers intensify the alignments of those around you -- DSers are driven even more to the DS, LSers are driven more to the LS, no matter if you are a Sith Lord or a Jedi Master yourself. Thus, Hanharr, HK-47, Visas Marr, and G0-T0 should all be driven deeper to the DS, while Bao-Dur, T3, Mira, and Disciple being driven to the LS, with Atton following the character's lead and Kreia remaining eternally grey, whether or not you are Dark Side or Light. That's not how it works, however.
  20. I hate to spoil your fun, Gorth, but you can train Disciple to be a Jedi.
  21. Isn't that about the bug fix patch already announced? <shrug>
  22. If you are a Consular, or in any way have a decent to high wisdom bonus, Handmadien is the best choice. If you aren't a Consular, or have a low wisdom score, then you aren't going to be using a whole lot of Force powers in all likelyhood, so the Meditation doesn't really matter that much, especially if you are LS and get the endgame LS power.
  23. That's all it means? How disappointing. The word had potential.
  24. This is the first time I've heard of Obsidian contacting LA. I think it's great. Does anyone have a link to the official annoucement?
