  1. Your analogy might work if it was a few thousand planes that were hijacked.
  2. AOC is a freshman, soon to be sophomore, representative in the House for about 700,000 people in New York. It is strange how much attention she gets from both sides of the aisle in this country.
  3. I will say this, I played Phoenix point when it came out and it was rough. Then I played it a few months ago and it was great. That extra time really brought it a long way. It is a solid addition to the Xcom style genre.
  4. I loved the original Prey 2 premise so much.
  5. I wonder how you feel about Mark Esper getting fired? Seems like he basically refused to use the military against civilians, so I'd think he'd be your type of guy.
  6. I finally got a chance to watch the entire SNL. First off, soooooo excited to watch Maya Rudolph for the next 4 years. Also, as satire, SNL played a part in the last 4 years, but you could almost sense that weight was heavy on them. I have said before it is a hit and miss show depending on hosts and all, but you could tell there was a lot of work put in during the last 4 years trying to keep it more satirical than simply silly and fun. This Chappel episode was a bit of a great release of that stress. Fun to watch.
  7. It took me a couple days to pin it down, but I kept think femriker looked super familiar. Laura Prepon from that 70's Show and Orange is the New Black. Also Wesley is clearly Winona Ryder.
  8. Ruby Bridges was 6 years old, so I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. But if you do not see the parallel, I don't really know what to tell you. I can only speak for myself, but I see a tremendous amount of hope and inspiration in that image. As I said, I hope everyone can see it.
  9. This probably belongs here more than the Funny Thread
  10. On the subject of identity politics: https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-11-08/identity-politics-2020-election-born-again Personally I'd say bemoaning identity politics is an easy way to dismiss the achievements of an individual.
  11. Do you understand why Ruby Bridges is important?
  12. Clearly I can't into math.
  13. Biden is going to end up with 80 million votes and 303 EC votes. It may have been dramatic and all that, but it's a pretty convincing victory.
  14. Why not?
  15. .50 to .60 cents a mile is probably a good estimate.
  16. Hopefully everybody.
  17. This is important.
  18. Less than 5 miles total.
  19. It may compare, heck it may even be worse, but our advances in hygiene and medicine over the last century have certainly limited the damage. It is also hard to imagine we will go for years without a decent vaccine.
  20. They control the senate and got over 65 million votes, so I think they will be alright.
  21. Have you played Chimera Squad?
  22. After receiving a $500 bill from my daughter's dance studio for 'choreography', I decided I need to figure out a way to bring in some extra money. I signed up for something called instacart, which has me go shopping for people. My first job sent me to a pet store, where I found the 2 items requested pretty quickly. I was told I had about 30 minutes to complete this task, so the time was ticking. There was some hijinks trying to get the instacart card to scan off my phone, but I was able to complete the transaction with only a few minutes lost. Then I went to my car and tried to scan the receipt. I kept getting an error! With time ticking down, I figured it was best to make the delivery and worry about the receipt later. I drove to the person's house, struggled with the scanner again, and then simply skipped that step and delivered the goods. They were due by 1:37 PM and I had them at the door by 1:36. Success! I still couldn't get the receipt to scan, so I texted the help line and they completed the transaction for me. So just a bit of stress, but I am now $12.70 richer. All told it took about 45 minutes to do the job. Not bad! Seems like an easy enough way to earn a few bucks when I have spare hour or two.
  23. In 20 years, we will look back at this as the greatest turnout in election history. That is the type of stuff that makes it into the history books, not the bickering and ridiculous claims. Some of you really need to chill on the whole doom and gloom. This is an great time to be alive. We are witnessing an amazing election, and thanks to our modern world we are all going to get a deep dive into the inner workings of all sorts of different voting districts across the country. We are in the midst of a global pandemic, and yet we've managed to have surprising stability across the economy and the government. Do you really think any of the stuff currently going on is WORSE than what happened in the 20th century? Do you really think this compares to the Great Depression, the Spanish Flu, and 2 World Wars? Let's get some perspective, people.
  24. Hmm. Modelo isn't the worst thing to have in the fridge, but there are some better choices in the Mexican Lager market.
  25. I really just have a hard time with the whole Republican victim complex narrative that Skarpie is pushing. You've got control of the senate, you've gained house seats, and you won the election in 2016. The Republican party isn't some marginalized 3rd party. They get plenty of coverage. Are journalists typically going to lean towards liberalism? Absolutely! What kind of conservative goes to college to get a degree in journalism?
