Truman was dealing with recovering from the Great Depression, so it doesn't surprise me that he saw the Republicans as heartless robots. They created a very bad situation for the country. I don't think you can compare our current situation to the 20's though. There are tremendous differences in business, government, and the economy in general.

He's the best goal scorer in the league, why does he need to "get better"? His game will probably become more well-rounded defensively though.

I've had Gametap for a few months and I've never encountered any outages. It works very well for playing old and new games. Some of the older ones, like Kings Quest, run in windowed mode though. It is completely transparent when you are in a game. I haven't played Xcom on the service, but I always had issues running it in dosbox, mostly just with the speed settings (like the scrolling speed.) On Gametap, I've never had any issues running older games, they are programmed to be playable within the Gametap client. So yes, there is a client that all the games run on, and it isn't very intrusive. When I want to play a game from Gametap, I load up the client and launch it directly from the service. The Gametap client runs much like an internet browser. It's only 99 cents for the first month, if you are interested in giving it a try. I think it's well worth that. I'm also surprised at the newer titles they've managed to get a hold of. Jericho, the Sam & Max series, and Kane & Lynch are among the few that are included with your subscription. They aren't paying me to say this stuff.

Odd that a president from the democratic party would sound so biased... I will say the parties have change a lot since the FDR's era.

Is it only one game? I thought it was called Fable II: Pub Games... Yeah, there are three games. One is a card game, like a simplified version of Solitaire, one is basically a slot machine, and one is kind of like Roulette. The card game is the only one I've really found enjoyable.

I pre-ordered Fable II, and I've actually been enjoying this little card game that they released on Xbox live early. The money I earn in the card game transfers to my Fable character.

Nobody really likes the people in charge of the Teacher's Union, but they dislike the people in charge of the School District Office a lot more. They are both politicians, but one is fighting to pay you as little as possible and one is fighting to get you the most money because they get a cut of it. But school districts are pretty different than most industries. Administration doesn't actually want highly qualified teachers, they want young teachers who come cheap. They don't make more money based on performance, so there is no real motivation there.

Cameras in public places versus cameras in your home is a pretty major difference. All I'm saying is if you don't own the property, don't expect to have privacy. Obviously there are grey areas here, like public restrooms. But I'll be frank, I don't really do anything worth watching, and most people flatter themselves if they think the government really cares to what the heck they are doing. Seriously, the government can wire tap me all they want, I feel bad for the FBI guy who has to listen to my wife tell me about her day. I also make a big distinction between personal freedom and surveillance. If the government had a camera and a mic on you all day, exactly how are they limiting your freedom? You are still able to live your life any way you choose within the limits of the law. And the law isn't exactly restrictive in our society, you just can't harm other people or damage other people's property. That's not exactly 1984. And the truth is they probably have no interest in wasting man hours observing you. Law enforcement doesn't care what you are doing. They want to stop the people who are damaging the society you live in.

I'd heard this argument before, but usually it was from the side of some Authority: "if you don't break the law, you have nothing to hide". Never expected to see such a voluntary surrender of privacy. Anyway, this is off-topic. Actually I'm a teacher, so I guess I could be considered some kind of authority. For example, my wife teaches at a High School in a tough neighborhood, and it makes me feel better knowing that there are surveillance cameras throughout the campus. But you are using the word privacy and talking about public places. Why should we expect privacy in a public place? I don't have cameras in my home and that's enough for me.

In many small towns, the Wall-Mart is the only store available that carries a large selection of goods. It also tends to sell stuff at very low rates, which is where they get that reputation from. They drive mom and pop shops out of business. I avoid it, but I've got a Target

I'm pretty sure I saw a chart with Spore leading PC sales in every market except Europe, and the creature creator came in second. I'd go so far as to say that EA's stock tumbling has absolutely zero to do with Spore or DRM. I did hear that Wall Street is crumbling due to draconian DRM. That is pretty obvious. In fact the bailout plan failed because Speaker Pelosi went off on the DRM practices of the republicans. They were like "We need DRM" and that's why they voted against the bailout.

Gotta agree with random, if you are going to buy DRM music from Wal-Mart, you should be capable of staying somewhat aware of what is happening to their service. Also, it's not like the music goes boom when they shut down. You just can't back it up after a certain date. I have a few cassette tapes lying around, but I don't cry about the fact that I haven't had a car that can play cassettes for the last eight years. If you don't burn it onto a CD, that's the risk you run.

Gametap is a subscription based service, so I'm not sure why anyone would have an issue with the DRM. You are accessing THEIR games library. The games belong to them. Even if you are paying the $10 subscription, you aren't purchasing a specific title. It's like paying $10 to go into a movie theatre and being allowed to watch as many movies as you want for a month. Heck, they even let you watch some movies for free, like Fallout. Fallout 2 came out last week and Tactics is on its way in a couple weeks.

I haven't actually decided. On the upside, it's because I like both candidates this time, unlike the year I decided Bush and Gore were both lame and threw Nader a vote. Being in a Union and a teacher, I tend to favor democrats. But McCain has always been a favorite of mine, he's not going to just do what makes the party happy, he'll look for the best solution regardless of the politics. Everyone says Obama reminds them of JFK. I'm not sure how that's a good thing, JFK made some pretty big mistakes in his first couple years (i.e. Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis.) But Obama does have a certain charm and it would be nice to re-establish a positive identity with the rest of the world. I don't blame our domestic problems on Bush, but I do think he's blundered with his world image. On the other side of the coin, I dislike both VP candidates. You've got plagarising Biden on one end and no sex ed. Palin on the other. Ra Ra.
