I love how people are arguing about political theory when the real issue is discrimination against a minority. None of this matters to the couple that is marginalized because they don't fit the traditional man-woman mold.

Warhammer Online has a pretty unique situation in that they really need to balance the servers between each faction, and they even have to worry about having the different tiers balanced. It's a bit of a nightmare I imagine. Still, they are fairly new to the scene so I think it is too early to pass judgement. Auto Assault also came out a long time ago, so I'm not sure how that qualifies as a recent release. That list you supplied is pretty good evidence that the MMO genre is alive and growing, you have a good mix of old and new titles in there. Tabula Rasa is the only recent release that was forced to shut down the servers for good. It's also the only high quality title that has shut down. It was a stable game, gt good reviews, but it never found an audience. On the other hand, games like Vanguard and Age of Conan that had serious flaws, still seem able to carve out a niche in the market and survive.

There are plenty of successful MMO's out there though, and I can't think of any that have come out stating they were going to be the next WoW. Heck, a few companies are turning a solid profit by offering a bunch of different MMO's. Turbine, SOE, and NCSoft are all moving along just fine in the supposed shadow of Blizzard. Age of Conan is the only recent game that seems to have suffered from unrealistic expectations. And that game isn't dead, it was just terribly mismanaged.

Throw in a few major disasters, and that sounds like the last 5 years of ER already.

What does that mean? MMO's have become more successful over the last few years.

MLB 09 The Show - I was well on my way to getting rookie of the year honors, but a hamstring injury put me out for the last two months of the season. I was pretty upset about it. I'm in my sophomore season now, and I'm off to a great start with 3 homers in my first two series. I also bought a swank penthouse apartment in Saints Row 2 and now I fly everywhere in a chopper.

Hammers and clubs can really whomp on a person, but fortunately they miss a lot too. I had someone steal my club in a fight and use it against me today.

I like SVU. It can be hard to watch, it isn't a dinnertime show or anything, but the actors are fantastic and the storylines are often better than the original or CI. They handle the subject matter very delicately by the way. Ice T for teh win.

Any majority rule that strips rights away from a minority group is tyrannical. Gay couples do not have the same rights as heterosexual couples in California or in the US. It is as simple as that. All the legal mumbo jumbo is just a smoke screen so people don't have to address the real issue.

Lack of high lvl content = sucky gameplay Gameplay typically refers to the actual mechanics, such as combat. High lvl content falls into the content category. So yes, AoC had content issues. Fantastic 1-20 experience though.

AoC doesn't have problems because of the system requirements. It sold over a million copies at release.

Woohoo, Vermont just followed Iowa and became the fourth state to legalize gay marriage. We are on a roll! Unfortunately Krezack's view of the US as a singular bloated capitalist monster is common internationally. Most outsiders have no concept of the complex system that is taking place on a federal, state, and local level. This is a huge frickin' country. There are a ton of ideologies, agendas, and identities floating around.

I wouldn't say AoC copied WoW either. What exactly was your complaint about AoC?

If only they'd put the "don't shoot yourself in the leg while at a nightclub" clause in his contract, we wouldn't have an issue. Considering how often it happens, it really should be a standard clause.
