I have automatic updates turned off due to a weak connection, I just choose when I want to update specific games. Also, Steam has done well for itself. Maybe 20 years down the road, it won't be as strong and will have to shut down. But be honest about the lifespan of your hardcopy games...games that pre-date 1990 are very difficult to run on modern OS's. I think it is more likely that Steam will be even stronger in 20 years as high speed internet becomes even faster and social networking becomes part of the everyday experience.

I've always found it is best to avoid forums on games whilst playing them. When I have finished it and feel satisfied with the entertainment I received, I then go read threads about how miserable I should have been.

Granted, but I still have the physical copy - wich I am quite certain will last longer than your Steam copies. Wich I did touch at in my previous post. I doubt that. Getting old games to work on new computers is a crap-shoot. At the least, you will need to jump through a few hoops to get the game to work. Your Steam library, on the other hand, will move forward with the technology.

I get the whole physical copy thing, I really do. If I'm going to pay $50, I want a nice box and a DVD. But protesting against Steam completely strikes me as cutting off the nose to spite the face. Steam has a ton of great games on it, many for insanely low prices. It has had technical problems, but I've seen a very steady improvement in the software since it was launched. It is extremely successful, so if you are worried about losing the games you have on Steam, that is crazy. It makes it easy to buy and play games. I'm not sure what else you folks need.

I didn't notice too many bugs, I finished Awakenings last night. I felt a bit uncertain about whether I made the right choices, which I suppose is a nice touch. Despite my best efforts, Oghren is managed to survive. Lame.

That is why I enjoyed The Princess and the Frog so much.

I just started the Rain Wilds chronicles, which is the conitunation of the Liveship series. Great so far, Robin Hobb is definitely one of my favorite authors. I hope she returns to the Soldiers son world, I thought it was pretty great.

Playing through Dragon Age: Awakenings. It took me awhile to get into it, but it has finally caught my attention after a few months of sitting on my hard drive. I'm glad I read the books, it clears up a lot and means I don't have to read the cumbersome codex very often.

These numbers have to include Chinese software companies as well as outsourced Indian software support developers in the average? I would say they are based solely on US numbers, actually.

I agree, Stubbs is a mainstay in my cooking repertoire. I also really enjoy the Famous Dave's marinades, but they are hard to find. They don't even sell them at our local restaurant. The BBQ sauce is easier to find and pretty awesome though.

I hate this argument. Why on earth are you comparing games to movies? Hey, try it with a book! A book costs like $20 and it lasts for up to 100+ hours. Gee, suddenly the deal isn't looking so good, is it? It's so pointless to try to compare different media this way. Is 10 hours of entertainment worth $50 for you? That's the only question you need to answer. I compare games to movie or television because it is usually a choice between those two forms of entertainment. Books are a completely different form of media. I can take it with me, I can read a few pages before bed, I can even sneak a few pages at work. My free time for gaming/movies is much more limited, made worse by the fact I hate distractions when I'm doing either activity.

Did it had great one liners like the original? Somehow I don't think so. The delivery of lines by Topher Grace and Walter Goggins was pretty fantastic. It was pretty funny when Goggins explained what he wanted to do if he ever got home.

And I consider $50 a very fair price for a game that costs millions to develop.

I have no clue how many books I own, but I'd say it would be a lot more than was in that picture. But mine are spread out between my classroom, my house, my RV, my boxes and boxes in storage...
