  1. The two books he wrote are pretty awesome as well. If Chins Could Kill is the better of the two.
  2. While I agree those are decent labels for pirates, the amount of boasting I see online from people who pirate makes me question the dishonesty part. Many of these people are surprisingly candid about their illegal activity.
  3. ENTITLEMENT It sums up the whole act of digital piracy pretty well.
  4. Well, I do agree that the majority of pirates are young kids with entitlement issues. Most of us here have admitted to piracy in our 'young and dumb' years.
  5. Of course they did, indie games are terrible. If I had paid money for some retro-platform rubbish made by some tit who thinks 'bart simpsons vs the space mutants' is the greatest game ever, Id kill myself. Couldn't have said it better myself, ****ing indie trash. Where are the real games? Uh...it isn't like a necessity to play every game ever released. If you don't want to drop a buck on a few indie games because they are crap, then why play them at all?
  6. Not to be a negative nelly, but there was an indie pack that was selling for whatever you wanted to pay awhile back, and people still pirated it.
  7. I did most of my Valentine's stuff this weekend. I made pork chops with apple sauce, cous cous, and veggies for dinner tonight, and my wife and daughter just headed out for a pilates class. Me and my son are just relaxing and enjoying the quiet. The classroom was a bit crazy today, dang candy-centric holidays
  8. Heck, I watch Army of Darkness with my 4-year old. It's pure comedy.
  9. I'm not sure why a person would spend time defending piracy, and then not pirate themselves. I mean, you've already justified it in your own head, it's not like it is hard to find pirate sites to download from. So yeah, it is a reasonable assumption indeed.
  10. yeah, they should be looking for ways to prevent it, Steam is a good example. not only because of digital distribution, but mostly thanks to achievements, friend lists etc. Steam is very much a form of DRM.
  11. I will be pretty bummed if Steam and GOG become the only way to continue playing PC games, but I guess I'll have to adapt. Doesn't that prove that piracy is damaging to the industry in and of itself? Would we be in this situation if piracy was nonexistent?
  12. How could they remake that? It was scary enough the first time with Shawn & Marlon Wayans. I don't think that you are talking about what you think are talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_White_Female and "The Roommate" may not be a remake per-se but I'm getting a strong vibe that they are the same. Heh, he's referring to White Chicks, which was an awesome movie But yeah, the Wayans brothers in that make up is about as scary as it gets.
  13. I haven't seen anyone claim that, here or in that linked article. The point isn't that the developer/publisher is losing money every time someone plays a pirated game illegally. The developer/publisher has released their work for a price. Pirates ignore that price and take the game without paying. It is wrong, and it is terribly frustrating for many of the people working on games. I don't know why anyone needs hard data to see that, it is basic common sense.
  14. I dunno, what would you call a person who bought a stolen phone from someone for 1/10 of the actual price? surely not a thief? what if he got that phone as a gift from his friend who bought it from a person who in his turn got it from the thief? what do you call him then? because this happens all the time at pawn shops and whatnot Pawn shops have many legal restrictions they have to abide by. I know in California, they have to report anything they receive to the police and hold onto it for 30-days in case it comes up stolen. And yes, if you are in possession of stolen goods, you will be charged.
  15. Fair enough. The morality isn't really what's relevant when defining it, though - what's important is the impact it has on sales. Why is that? This isn't business law, it is criminal law we are talking about. Morality does come into play considerably.
  16. Not really, as it doesn't take a team of 100+ people years to make currency. I'd say it is a lot closer to stealing than counterfeiting.
  17. Is it really already time to have another piracy debate again? I thought we still had a month or two. Whatever you call it, or whatever legal class you put it into, it is wrong to do. Let's just leave it at that and stop trying to justify it.
  18. That seems like a very large town, to be honest. Very nice pictures!
  19. Starcraft 2, which had pretty insane DRM, was downloaded illegally over 3 million times. It also sold 3 million copies. So basically a copy was pirated for every one sold. That is a pretty big problem.
  20. Maybe he meant he is practicing emptiness so he will be prepared to play DA2 for many hours. I'm trying to link DA2 to emptiness there. Eh, I can't figure out how to word that right
  21. Let's also just realize that a score in the 90's is simply a high score and means it is a very good game. Getting caught up with which games got 93, 94, and 95 is silly.
  22. When rating the Bioware stable of games, I find it is best to implement an advanced and sophisticated system of trigonometric equations so I can really get into the gritty details and pick them all apart with maximum anal-osity. After years of research and number crunching, I came up with surprising results... But if I share them, you guys wouldn't have anything to talk about.
  23. Exactly. Trump inherited his empire and almost lost it twice. His biggest success has been his media savvy.
  24. I was watching Justified last night, the best show on TV ever, and I got thinking about all the guys I have man crushes on. Now it's nothing to be embarrassed about, Timothy Olyphant just seems to be awesome in everything, and I am sure if I ever ran into him, I would be reduced to giggling like a school girl. The other big one is Ryan Reynolds. He's always been pretty dreamy, but then he went out and married Scarlett Johansen, making him the ultimate man. So who is your man crush?
