  1. Wrong, yes.. Morally repugnant.. I dunno I would reserve that term for something worse. 'Morally having been out of the fridge for too long and not exactly safe to eat, but not entirely repugnant either' perhaps. Hmm, I'm thinking it might be more like morally unripened fruit, given that a good majority of pirates are people who are young or have a very immature view of business.
  2. It's a game. You don't have to play any of them. Your choice should be to not play it at all.
  3. Geez, with melodrama like that, would you prefer they handle the Real Housewives of Orange County for their next game? I fully understand that in this day and age, a mid-level developer takes whatever work they can. Money is money. But really, is this any different from a Jersey Shore rpg or A Ghost Adventures rpg pr Big Bass Adventure WHite Water Fishing or whatever? Sure, if someone likes South Park or Jersey Shore or Ghost Adventures or Big Bass fishing then they're probably all fired up a potential game. But, for me, speaking personally, it's a disappointing direction for Obsidian and hopefully not an indicator of the direction of other future projects. It really just depends what they do with it. The Jersey Shore one may bother me, but the other two don't, because I think Obsidian can make it their own. I'm not sure if they can do that with South Park. I think it's way too early to tell. I haven't really watched the show in a long time. I may end up with zero interest in this title. But I'm not going to begrudge them for it unless they become a studio completely devoted to turning Comedy Central shows into games. It's one title, it's an interesting opportunity for Obsidian, and it keeps the company in business. I don't see the real negatives here.

  5. DRM schemes may suck, but I understand businesses wanting to protect their investments. Pirates have no justification for what they are doing. It is completely wrong and morally repugnant.
  6. I believe Team America: World Police was actually pretty successful. Good reviews and decent revenue on a film that was probably fairly inexpensive to put on screen. Heck, it was an R-rated puppet movie, it did amazing given that hurdle. BASEketball (which they didn't write or direct) and Orgazmo are a bit of cult classics at this point. They also have a very successful musical, The Book of Mormon, that they collaborated on. None of this really spells video game success, but it does show some range.
  7. We got our tree today, and now the lights are on it. Next we will put on the ornaments, but it's tricky this year with the little one. We need to keep the breakable ones high enough so he can't grab them.
  8. The guys who make South Park are extremely productive and have managed to release multiple movies along with a long running TV show. I really doubt they are hard to work with. They released a successful film with puppets for goodness sake. Also, the topical issue is the same with movies, you are looking at longer development cycles for both. I doubt that will be their biggest hurdle. Making gameplay fun will likely be the biggest obstacle.
  9. I'm pretty sure there are loads of fans of South Park that will buy the game if it's good. It pretty much depends on the delivery and with licenced games as always there are those who will pick it up not knowing about quality at all, just because it's based on a show they like. I played The Simpsons open world sandbox game back in the day, it was very well done. I think it came out about 8 years ago or so. It was basically GTA but in Springfield. I'm assuming Primus will do the music for this game.
  10. I played on a EU server for awhile, and I didn't have any lag at all.
  11. I write the date December 2nd, 2011. So 12/2/11 makes perfect sense to me.
  12. We really know very little about this yet, I'm really thinking it will be a direct download game for the Xbox Arcade/PSN Home. That would mean a smaller team, short dev. cycle, and possible episodic content. As I mentioned, it worked well enough for the Penny Arcade game, which was also an adventure/RPG. It will also allow it to stay closer to current events, as Trulez mentioned. Although there are plenty of current events with a longer shelf life. edit: Or maybe not, apparently there is already an XBLA game coming out. Ah well, it's all speculation at this point. edit 2: I'm imagining a Willy Beamish type game at this point. I have no idea why.
  13. I'm putting the breaks on playing it for the next two weeks. Early Access will probably start on Friday the 16th, and I don't want to get attached to anything that will be wiped. I want to save it for release day.
  14. I can see it taking on a Penny Arcade style of play as well. I didn't think a webcomic could be a decent game, but they managed it. So I'll just wait and see. As for the people that are indignant about South Park in general, that is soooo 10 years ago.
  15. To be fair, woman are very forgiving if you get them enough gifts.
  16. It sounds like they skip things, like you taking the collar off and then doing companion quests. All in all, that's probably after about 100 hours of gameplay with that companion. It's also pretty clear at some point the Mr. Sith flirted heavily to turn that relationship into a romance, which they seem to have left out. You also have to curry favor points with the companion to even get to that kind of point, so I doubt Mr. Sith was a total douche all the time to her.
  17. Huh, I'm not really sure what to say. I'm pretty skeptical, although I never thought a South Park movie would really work, and that turned out great. My biggest concern is South Park seems pretty over the hill. I'm at a loss.
  18. Everything alright at home Volo? The personal attacks seem out of character for you, particularly one so off the topic. You can talk about it with us if you need to, you are among friends.
  19. It used to be a much smaller deal, but now that we are dropping a huge amount on childcare and struggling to get out from an underwater property, we are both a lot more cautious about every purchase. The carefree days of dinners out and weekends playing games are long past As for what I'm playing, I'm having trouble staying motivated about Skyrim. I really am just bidding time for TOR to be released, I don't want to spend anymore time testing it.
  20. When your finances are tied closely together, it is important to have a good dialogue with your partner about purchases. It keeps the relationship healthy. I don't run every $10 purchase on Steam by my wife, but dropping $60 is something I talk to her about. She does the same when she wants a manicure.
  21. Yeah, I made very little headway in crafting. It seems pretty complicated.
  22. Yes, some people play an MMO for about 300 hours and then proclaim it is garbage Raithe gave a great summary. There was an option in an earlier beta to match all armor color to your chestpiece. They didn't have it enable in the latest build, I have no idea why. I'm hoping it will be back for release. They have done a good job of keeping the armor somewhat coordinated, rather than the fashion nightmares you get in many other MMO's.
  23. I suspected as much. Your courageous sacrifice means I shan't watch it . After I got over my disappointment that they didn't focus on the fairly hilarious other bridesmaids, I thought it was a decent romcom between that Target lady and the guy from the IT Crowd. Did you stay long enough for the conversation on bleaching? That was pretty funny.
  24. I love the lore objects. I'll probably wander around doing them all at release.
  25. I'm tempted to play it. I was really too young when it came out and never grasped the gameplay.
