Just booked a short little trip down to Vegas for me and the wife. Look, family vacations are great. We did some amazing stuff and I loved it. But we also shared a confined space for 3 weeks, stepped on each other, snapped at each other, and had a good share of melt downs. The wife and I need a little space to decompress from that. There is no romance on family RV trips.

I started watching Stranger Things with my 9-year old daughter, thinking it would be closer to ET and Stephen King's IT. I might have made a mistake there.

Wake up. What further evidence do you need that the 'Libertarian Party' has been hijacked beyond Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney saying they might go that way? At the end of the day, that party is owned by the same people who own the Blues and the Reds, and has been for at least a few elections at this point. It's much easier to take risks and fail when you've got a healthy fallback plan. He's not playing with the same deck as 99% of the population. But not many politicians are.

BLM is a protest group against police brutality. There is nothing on their website about shooting police officers. If you want to blame the entire BLM movement for the shooting deaths of police officers, I hope you are also blaming all police every time they kill someone unjustly.

Trump is pretty dang good at marketing. Honestly I have no idea how I will effectively teach my students about Habeas Corpus if they ever manage to shut down Guantanamo Bay. It's such a perfect example of what happens without it.

I'd say the common denominator is dumb young men. There are exceptions, of course. Sometimes they are mentally unstable dumb young men.

Some people here are so quick to jump on the failed multiculturalism and anti-Islam message when these events happen, while completely ignoring the economics and mental health of these terrorists. Most groups self segregate when they have large scale immigration. That's why most cities that have faced major immigration have districts like Little Italy, Chinatown, etc. This is a complex situation. You have a chunk of disenfranchised young people facing difficult economic circumstances, you have a group like ISIS that aims to take advantage of those young people by feeding their discontent with violence. You have a growing hostility towards all Muslims, which further disenfranchises the youth and makes it easier for ISIS to influence, and you have a religion that is fractured and facing tremendous violence within their own states.

The guy was of North African origin. It was not a native French, even if it is 2nd or 3rd generation, it is not home grown. it is still a result of importing alien and hostile culture. What? Fun facts: I am voting for a libertarian candidate for the second straight election. I voted for Obama, Nader, and Clinton in the past. My wife has voted Republican since she was old enough. She is also leaning heavily towards Johnson. I have a number of Republican friends posting Big Johnson jokes and showing favor towards him. This is a pretty different election, I say vote for who you think is the best candidate and ignore all the naysayers.

Everybody is freaking out about Ginsburg's comments, and the chance that we will get another one of her on the SC. But she is 83 years old, so I'd try to keep that in mind. The odds are more likely we'll get two moderates to replace Scalia and Ginsburg in the long run, because even with a liberal President, you've got a conservative congress.

Look through a most anticipated games list of 2016 or 1017, and tell me which ones have been seriously influenced by some sort of SJW agenda. You are a moron if you think not voting for one of the two major candidates is throwing your vote away. By the same line of thinking, your vote only counts if you vote for the winner. If your candidate loses your state and the general election, does your vote not count twice as much?

Yeah, I-5 is not fun. I will be driving it in two days as the home stretch. Speaking of driving... Day 16 - The drive along Highway 70 West from Denver into Utah is probably the most scenic one I've ever experienced. You climb into the Rockies, passing Veil and Aspen, then transition into the mesas of Grand Junction, and then it turns into another world as you go through Capitol Reef and Goblin National Park. It was fantastic, here are some pics, somewhat in order. I'll put Utah in another post...

I have never been outside of North America. I want to travel the world, but I have never had the time, money or opportunity. I have been to 25 states. I hope to see them all eventually, but the east coast is a long drive. I like that I have seen most of them from the road, I do not think you get a full measure of a place if you just stay in the cities.

It actually has made slightly curious about the movie. Could it really be that bad? Maybe I should go and watch it. There have been a lot of bad comedies made in the last decade, I don't remember there ever being such a stink about it. Hangover 3 never made me laugh, the most recent National Lampoon's Vacation was a bomb. I also don't remember people freaking out when Will Farrell desecrated I Dream of Genie. The vitriol is way out of iine. Also, all these reviews were popping up before the embargo was lifted, so that means 1 of 2 things: 1. The review is BS and based on trailers. 2. The reviewer is willing to risk their status as a person who gets early copies just to 'expose' this comedy. We can safely disregard 1, but even 2 seems a bit sketchy. This isn't some powerful civil rights movie or a documentary on a major moment in history. It's a comedy about hunting ghosts.

Day 16 - We lounged around the RV until lunchtime, then headed over to Coors Field to watch the Rockies play the Phillies. Coors Field is a very nice ballpark. I am used to trying to find midday games because that is the best time to go in San Francisco, but I might need to change that strategy. It was extremely hot out at the park. We had a bit of shade for the first 6 innings, but ended up leaving after the 7th due to the sun. We headed across the street to Breckenridge Brewery, and of course tasted more beer. Actually I got a bit teary eyed as I finished my last sips of this: It is one of the best IPA's I've ever had. I'd put it on the level with Rogue's 7 Hop IPA. Alas, it is small batch and I may never taste it again. This was our last real vacation day. I will spend the next three days driving 1300 miles to get my wife home in time for her cheerleading camp. I may or may not get any more posts up.
