Ah the American Dream, to murder and humiliate your boss. This year has been a pretty rubbish year for movies i have to say. Now I am picky when it comes to films, and a film really has to appeal to me, most this year, haven't. The only 2 that have, and have been memorable have been, for me at least: The Incredibles Shrek 2 Let us hope next year is better <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Should have been more specific. Yes that's true. I feel sorry for people who try to play the latest games on 256 or 512 megs of RAM. Minimum specs are a joke. DON'T BELIEVE THEM! And he did say decently. Sure, you will be able to play the game with 512mb but not as smoothly as 1gb. Physical memory is always better than a large swap file. btw, I've just got Bloodlines and the overall performance is quite good. Load times are around 15 seconds. Not too bad. Hearing you guys complain I was expecting the worst. Do yourself a favour and buy 1 GB RAM, it makes a BIG difference. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually my RAM's the only part of my PC that isn't obsolete. You do know that the number of patches doesn't matter, right? It's about what it fixes. Quality, not quantity. A company that releases four patches that gradually fix things isn't giving better support than a company that only releases one patch that fixes everything simply because they released more. Of course, this isn't to say Troika managed either with this patch for Bloodlines. Just pointing out the problem in your logic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My favorite thing about all the Ubisoft and Monolith games I've played, is I never even HAD to patch, other than to have some fun with Multiplayer on AvP2. That's a godsend on dialup in a modern world of 50+MB patches!

I would join in this mock flame war, but it might be seen as non-cordial communication with the other board members.

If you don't need it right away (i.e. you already have one, but you just need an upgrade), I'd wait until the X850 comes out....that'll mean pricedrops. If you need a new one because your old one fried, I'd go with a Radeon 9800.

Forgot to mention, my username is Colossus on that forum I linked to above. That wouldn't be such a problem if I'd thought I'd actually violated the forum rules. My suspicion is, that the person I snapped at was a little touchier than most, reported me, and wham bam, someone who's been registered for a day, and was acting stupid to boot takes precedence over someone who's been here just about since the forums were created. Cest la vie, I'll just be moving on to greener pastures, no reason to run around trolling here like I did Bio, too many people I enjoy talking to here; not to mention that was an extremely immature thing I did over there.

Apparently, my recent posts in the fanfic threads misposted in this section have been lacking in my 'previous and cordial manner of interacting with others' so I've now got 2 out of 3 official warnings before being tapped with the banstick. Not wanting this to happen, I'll be lurking, but probably not posting anymore. Still trying to figure out what rules I broke, but if anyone wants to find me, I'll be HERE.

Yup. I work with a lot of ATI cards, and finding drivers for them is the most ridiculous experience ever. Forget whatever the card is named, as the card's name is not important; all that matters is the card's family. I have, multiple times, encountered ATI cards with the same name but different suffix, where one would be in, say, the Rage family, and the other would be in an entirely different family. Also, ATI has an annoying tendency to drop support for video cards. NVidia, on the other hand, uses an integrated driver technology, so whenever one driver for a family is updated, all cards are updated. Much easier, and my old GeForce 2 in my home PC is fully up-to-date as a result. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I still like ATI better. I have more fun overclocking them, and the utilities they include are pretty awesome.

Normally I'm a total AMD fanboy, but the Centrino has a much longer battery life and is designed with mobile platforms in mind; wheras the AMD Mobile is basically the same processor I have sitting in my computer here, with an unlocked on the fly multiplier to enable it to stay cooler. Didn't know they have a 64 bit mobile processor out, I'll have to look into it, but I expect it's extremely pricy...
