The new Battlestar series on Sci Fi Channel is REALLY good, though a major departure from the old ones in that it's a more hardcore SciFi type series, rather than 'Cowboys in Space'.

I wonder if Adult Swim or Spike TV would...

Zoo Tycoon is great. I don't have it installed right now as I'm not playing it, and it's not a game I like to keep on the hard drive unless I'm actually using it. For some reason, when I run any sort of system scan (looking for spyware, errors, whatever), the scan gets bogged down in the Zoo Tycoon files and takes forever to wade through them. I plan on picking up the sequel when it comes down in price and is inevitably bundled with all the expansions that will likely be made for it. I'd like to get Sims2 sometime as well, I had fun with the first one. I like the idea of sandbox mode a lot as well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Eep! Phosphor, I meant Zoo Tycoon 2. I liked the first one well enough, though I'm not really a fan of the Tycoon games....but the sequel is just boring. It's fun enough switching it to picture mode using hotkeys when my sister's playing it and annoying her though.

That's what they all say.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, my sister has Zoo Tycoon installed on my PC even though I wouldn't touch it. She thinks the picture challenges I read about in CGW are actually 'fun'. Sims 2 though, that looked interesting, especially killing my little Sandbox people in creative ways. That and making their lives miserable before killing them, ah, a well rounded game indeed!

Unreal 2k4 and Doom 3...I thought you only played RPG and RTS games (with the occassional space sim). Actually, the director was complaining about how much the studio made him cut more than a month before it was released in theaters. The directors cut adds a whole new subplot, which makes some things make more sense, adds character development stuff, and adds back in all the swearing the original had(which is why its now rated R, its only 3 or 4 times, but I guess that was enough for the MPAA) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn, that's awesome. I'll have to pick it up!

Well...this sucks. Just noticed this thread, didn't notice the split earlier as I was staying out of that section until it got closer to release. It sucks even more as they know who I am on Bio and usually ban me on site. Dagnabit.

Q1 '05. There was a preview for that too. You should probably just pick up the mag...there was a surprisingly large amount of news in it this month (CGW February).

But they've described it like; dare I say it (I'm so gonna get flamed for this) an updated version of Baldur's Gate. A Gigantic streaming world you're free to explore (On a DVD no less), pro voice-overs, rich character interaction, a well written story! :">

The pets sound neat. I'll probably be getting a it...a couple weeks after it hits and I've heard some player feedback. I know Di~ said she's getting it, mayhaps I'll have to walk down the road and borrow her copy.

^Agreed^ Unfortunately, I've been hearing that after the release they've gone flat broke, probably because of the huge delay they had because HL2 was delayed, and might never make any games again. This makes me sad...very sad.

I read the cover story in Feb. CGW, it was on it. Sounds really good actually. Focus is mainly on combat rather than building resources like most other RTSs out right now. Instead, you have 'income' which you get by building certain facilities, but you don't have to recruit civvie units to make you money. I like that...a lot. That's one of the things that pisses me off most about RTS games right now, I HATE having to manage peons while I'm trying to wage a war. The 'TIE' tank looks iffy though...

You know, the only thing that made the original so unbearable was the lack of a story, and the automated combat. Some of you don't like mana systems, I have nothing against them. I loved the engine's tech in the first one. If they've focused on the story as much as Mr. Taylor's saying they did, could it actually be...good?
