Has anyone played The new Vampire Bloodlines Game
Child of Flame replied to LordRaven's topic in Computer and Console
I said Torment was better. Fallout's fun, but the cursor's buggin the hell out of me. I hate the way you have to right click to switch between the two (wouldn't having it change when you move it over an action item been just as effective), and I hate the way you have to move it, then let it sit in one place to see how many action points it's gonna take to move to a certain distance. The first point's extremely annoying when going through doors, and that whole bit's just poorly thought out from what I've seen so far. Baldur's Gate...well, while it might have been original when it was made, it isn't now. I'll still eventually get the sequel and the expansions just for the sake of saying I've played them, but there've been better RPGs since. Sorry guys, but nostalgia kills reason and taste. The only one I've played so far that seems to have stood the test of time thus far is Torment. The quality of the graphics given their age amazes me, and the story is just so good, the graphics could be pixelated blocks and I'd still play it. Torment looks better than NWN IMHO. -
EXTREME IS TOTALLY F#@KING AWESOME!!!

not really meant it as you cluttering the boards. just that people have already given their views so you might not get many replies. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Np Thanks for the info. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fairly buggy game, with some pretty massive memory leaks. Only problems I really had with it though, was the memory leaks, and those only started to be noticable when I'd been playing for several hours, sometimes as much as six. I never hit any of the game stopping bugs, but there's at least one I've heard about. People complain about the combat in the game, but to be honest, I like the combat in Bloodlines better than that in Fallout (is it just me, or is the cursor in that game really freaking annoying, perhaps if they'd specified with some sort of grid how far you could move per action points a la Shining Force). Problems aside, I enjoyed this game more than any RPG in my collection aside from Torment. It's better than Baldur's Gate IMO. I think most the posters on the board who specify that as the be all and end all of RPGs are letting nostalgia cloud their vision. Summary: It's an awesome game, and if your computer can run Half Life 2 (also Source Engine) you should be able to run Bloodlines. My specs are AMD Athlon 2500+ CPU, ATI Radeon 9600XT, and 1 Gigabyte of PC4000 Mushkin Ram. -
 Traitor. Besides, it's Ubisoft's shares that went up, and I in no way know this because I ran out and purchased 200 of them when I heard about the takeover...

Dude, Herve's got your back. Haven't you heard about FOOL [FallOut OnLine]? He's working on it as we speak with his team of 'developers'.

I hope it doesn't give my computer conniptions.

I was about to post this, but since you beat me too it.....I'll post it anyways since I went through all the trouble to host it: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it makes you feel better, your post was nicer since I'm a lazy sod who can't be bothered to host things, yet refuses to leech bandwidth off of respectable sites.

Damn, it ain't no 'special effect'. It's an entire GAME. Shock & Burnie "It will SHOCK you." - IGN 9.5

Games just came, which do I play first?
Child of Flame replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console
Grr, what's a good starting character makeup for Fallout. I lost some pretty crucial items in Planescape, and I don't feel like starting a new game just yet. I've tried a few character makeups already, but none were all that satisfying. What I'm looking for, is a character that will be able to talk his way out of most situations, be somewhat sneaky and schtuff, as well as hold his own in a fight. I've noticed that when I make my own PC rather than using one of the preset ones I usually end up with some extra items (lockpicking set, Mentats, Steroids, Tool, etc.). I'm wondering especially though, what skills I should tag, and what traits are the most useful, most of them don't look too great. -

Doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed by 'adults'. Take the X-Men and Spiderman movies for example. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You tell ME not to make Quote Trees!

Dude, this one's hot out of my IM Window, or at least it was last night when I posted it. But yes, those were fun times indeed. Almost a year ago now. ^_^

Dude, if they have any Aero chairs, I'll pay ye to Fed-Ex it to me, I'm good for it. I could use a good flat-panel monitor too.

Do you think if I gave two bits whether or not he hated me I would've posted it her for public scrutiny? Anyhow, he told me it was dead before he even realized who I was, so I assume it is. Still, conversation cracks me up.

article here. oh, and you don't necessarily get 2x performance... "up to" is the claim, but that only depends on the limiting factor with the game. if it's processor limited, you won't see any increase. besides, even if you do get an improvement, what difference is 200 frames over 100? taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't mean now taks, I meant some time down the road. i.e. when I upgrade now, I buy one, when I'm looking for a cheap performance upgrade in the distant future when the price has dropped I buy another. Anyhow, reading the article.

Yeppers, heheheh.

Heheh, some of the older members on the board should remember this, mith probably will, maybe jag too. Hrm. Apparently, the KotOR mod died, I can only wonder what greater things Nailyboy went on to do...maybe he got a job at McDonalds.

Did you miss the announcement that Obsidian (A.K.A. Bio Jr., A.K.A. Obistan) was making NWN2...that was about when they all showed up.

I almost didn't click this thread, but then I saw it was started by mith, so I almost didn't click it again, then I saw the last post was by jag, so I took the plunge. Heheheh.

I'd go HERE and post in their hardware section, ask them what to do. Also, FYI, more'n 1.5 GB of system memory (RAM) and you can lose performance for tasks such as gaming, good for rendering, but anything else, and you can actually get slowdowns, IIRC, it was something about it taking extra time to dump what's in it if you're doing menial everyday stuff. Quick question though, from the way you were speaking it, it sounds like you're buying a prefabbed PC from Dell...if you're doing this, please don't. Find some kid down the way from you, pay him a pittance to build it after ordering the parts, and you'll save a load of cash. That is, if you're not adventurous enough to try and build it yourself. ...that Dell guy was right, but e'en that vid card ain't really all that grand; hells, the 9600's be outdated nowadays...if'n ya ain't much o' a PC gamer, then all fine an' well, but if ya wants ta start more PC gamin', than I's'd go wit' a gig o' quality RAM (OCZ, Kingston, Corsair, Crucial, Mushkin, etc) an' at least a halfways-decent Radeon (ATI) 9600 or a Geforce (nVIDIA) 6600... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mushkin's nice, I've got a GB of their PC4000 RAM in my box right now (2 sticks, 512 MB each), good stuff. I also thought about getting Corsair (specifically the overclocking models), but it came down to price for performance, Mushkin was better at the time.

Why such a good CPU in such an otherwise POS build (no offense). Your CPU's definitely still got legs, I'm running a 2500 right now, and it does more than I need (overclocked of course). Depending on the model of GeForce 2 (how much Video RAM does it actually have) I'd go with putting as much money into system RAM as you can, preferably of the best quality you can find. If it's got say...64 MB Video RAM (A.K.A. the crap models), then go for the ATI card suggested earlier.
