  1. I remember someone mention that you can also use shapeshifting spell to turn in to a jelly which has 100% magic resistance, but i don't know how strong your attack is. Would that be cheesing?
  2. And i showed you that it is completely based on luck. As is the autopause button since there is no prior indication for you to enable it just for such an occasion. Thus the definition of a suckerpunch. I'm not even going to bother going in to the rest of the post where you've been making stuff up in every post and then calling me bad at the game....
  3. No, no he does NOT, stop making **** up, since you clearly haven't even read the conversation. When you ask him to tell you about the area, he just tells you that he gets along with most of the people in the area, but i might be different for the player. That's it. The only information he tells you is that saw the mage and the vampire near the Drow city. He does NOT tell you where the drow city is or in which direction. And he even encourages you to explore and find a better way to get in to the city. Ohh my god Who even cares how "hard" the the area is??? The point of the discussion was that you should be forewarned before getting teleported in to the attack range of a monster that can 1 hit kill you. Hahaha the desperation. Somehow i should have gone to the options to enable autopause just for this occasions, even though it's off by default. Because i should predict that at 1 point in the game i'm going to get 1shotted 1 second after the loading screen? Are you shi**ing me? It's pretty clear you don't know a thing about the game and your best argument is that i should somehow know telepathically that i should have gone North instead of East at one of the crossroads. And you also proved you don't even know what the quest choice were, since you couldn't even name the 3 options correctly you have to complete it. Maybe you should take your own advice and actually read the conversations instead if trying to tell others how they are "speeding" through it.
  4. If you venture down into the underdark, you got to expect horrible creatures lurking in its deepest recesses. However, the ease with which a failed save can kill you when encountering Beholders is another issue. So when you played the game you were walking around the Underdark with every possible buff in the game, while sacrificing all your offensive spells, even though you could easily encounter something that you can only hurt with magic, or something with enough regeneration that requires you to focus purely on offense, like the Kuo-Toa boss you face in the western cave? I doubt you did, and your expectancy of others to do that is unrealistic. If they named the tunnels the "Beholder lair", which you could probably notice once you got close to it, then it might have been fair play because you were forewarned what could be your next challenge, but it wasn't, you are instantly teleported in to the attack range of a beholder.
  5. No it isn't, you first meet the merchant who you can question about the Underdark, then you meet and fight the Drow and only then can you go past and to the south east part of the Underdark. Also I don't know about you but players usually explore the whole map before going further. So no, it's not luck, it's just you speeding through the game without reading the dialogue and exploring the whole map. A sucker punch would have been if you had to go there, no one forced you to go off map. Okey then please give me a screenshot of the dwarven merchant telling me about the beholder's lair, because i'm talking to him now and they don't mention it. And no you absolutely don't have to fight the drow to get to the southern tunnel, i just tested it.
  6. No it's not genius Well if you read the quest when it was given to you, you would have seen that you have 3 choices Illithid to the east, Beholders to the south and the mushrooms to the west. You were forewarned, genius! I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you were smart enough not no reply with this, but you actually went for it... No you weren't forewarned. You can access the southern tunnels without actually getting the quest in Drow city and there is ABSOLUTELY no hint in the game that tells you to go the city before trying to enter the southern tunnels. Whether or not you read about the Beholder lair is purely decided by luck, which is the definition of a suckerpunch. In fact it would be logical to explore the southern tunnels first before actually entering a "drow" city. Stop trying to be a smartass since you're clearly grasping for straws. And it's the fish-men, not the mushrooms that you need to get the blood from, so shows how much you actually read quests.
  7. One thing in BG2 that i considered a suckerpunch was the beholder cave in the underdark. I entered the cave and a beholder was instantly within attack range. My main char was at front of the group, got hit by a ray, failed a save and turned to stone, game over. If a monster is going to have instant kill attacks then at least give a little bit of warning to what you might face.
  8. Hah, i also wouldn't mind the rune wheel, but only if it activates only the first time, or something like once a full moon. Actually the idea to use it for extra content in the game isn't such a bad thought either.
  9. Seriously? Oh my god wow. Even people in the thread already agreed that the spells are from the IE games, and you're trying to tell me that it just so happens that they are the same because they are "basic concept"??? Are you implying that anyone could have come up with so many similar spells just by following the basic concept of "wizards shooting fire"? I've always known you were a delusional fanboy from reading your posts, but woooooow. Oh my god i can't believe this. I'm never taking your posts seriously ever again. The sheer stupidity that comes from it is amazing, and that's a sentence i'm happy to get banned for. This is absolutely amazing. I need to go lie down, i think i got brain damage from that post.
  10. Now in the video Sawyer said that they will give the mage several personal buffs so that they can be played as a fighter/mage hybrid. Now how is this going to work? Because the reason fighter/mage multiclass worked in IE games was because of pre-buffing and we don't have that in Eternity. Does that mean that the hybrid mage will basically need to stand there buffing for a while at the start of each combat? I don't think that's really going to work. If they can't make it work better than that, i would rather they just scratch that idea and replace those wasted buffing spells with something else.
  11. Half of the game is inspired by/ripped from dnd. I think intentionally so. Half of the entire video game industry is ripped from dnd. To be fair, I don't think D&D invented the simple concepts of magic. If I think putting crackers in soup will probably be tasty, it doesn't mean I'm ripping off everyone else who's ever put crackers in soup. If you take a time machine back to when D&D was created, and kidnap the creators so it never existed back when it did, someone else would still think "Hmm... what if there were wizards, and they could like... spray fire out of their hands to strike multiple foes?" I mean, if concepts that simple are ripping off D&D, then D&D is just ripping off the inventor of the flame thrower, or physics. *shrug* I don't really consider something to be "ripping off" something else (in a malicious/negative connotation) unless they're presenting someone else's exact same idea as if it's not only their own, but as if they thought of it first. To me, it's like Obsidian is saying "Thanks, D&D, for providing us with a lot of experience and ideas upon which to build a foundation to build a spell system. Cone-area spells of various elements are a pretty useful/solid idea." Here are the facts: -They have directly copied spell functionality several times from DnD. -They have put these same spells on the exact same classes from DnD. -They have copied the class casting system from DnD -They have put all of this in to an intellectual property owned by Obsidian. No amount of sugar coating will ever change that. It's obvious they are taking a lot their ideas from the DnD and IE games and they have shown that in many other parts of the game. But the spells don't NEED to be copied. I didn't mention most of the spells because they already getting away with a LOT. Some of the spells are iconic like Fireball and some of them are Easter eggs like Magic missile and they actually made a painfully bearable small effort to change some of them like the Cloak of Fear with an electrical damage bonus for the druid. But don't copy things just for the sake of copying to make it feel like an IE game. That flaming sword could have been ANYTHING but a flaming sword. Why not flaming hands? Why not a "random element upon cast" sword? Why not a stamina sapping sword? Why does a druid even need a flaming sword in the first place? They have Shapeshifting for close combat, that comes with other bonuses, like stamina regeneration or aoe damage. And they can even do elemental damage with their attacks, if they chose one at the start of the game. There's no logic to their copying, and there are barely any original ideas there.
  12. It took a while because i needed to reinstall the game to make sure. If you create the game as a multiplayer you are able to pause while in inventory. You can create the multiplayer session without having to connect to the internet in any way.
  13. ...... You do realize you can also pause the game and open the inventory and the game will stay paused right? And you can even move your items from character to character while paused and even drink potions, which will come in effect instantly after you resume the game. It's pretty obvious that he was talking about modern FPS. which you simply can't play effectively if you don't use a mouse or a controller. Because these games were made to be played like that. The IE games were made to be played with the pause, and every new post you make seems to prove that.
  14. No he's right. Your own character starts with the AI script set to "None" But other characters that joined your party had AI script set to "Default" Which basically did only 1 thing: Attack back when hit, with whatever weapon currently equipped. It doesn't counter your point just clarifying what he probably meant.
  15. I haven't played Dwarf Fortress but if you see your character going the wrong way, then: Press pause, select the character and micromanaged it around the thing it was blocking him. You can micromanage your characters literally by the milliseconds. And i can guarantee you that you don't actually need to, no matter how terrible people claim the pathing ai was. The only way your argument would work is if your character was uncontrollable for that time duration while he is moving. And he isn't. And while you are micromanaging that melee, your wizard is casting the spell without any problems. Which was the whole point of Stun's and my post when you quote me, remember? And if anyone has problems with such micromanaging, then the game obviously isn't for you. It's not a secret that the game is intended for the niche market. Just like turn based games, and those have it MUCH, MUCH worse than that. Usually such games don't even have a party AI or pathing and usually require you to move 1 character at a time. And in most games you can't move directly toward the enemy in one turn either. Oh and since the pathing in Eternity will be much better than in the IE games, using this argument as one of the reasons to not follow IE combat design, is useless.
  16. ^ What Stun said I have seen people on this forum genuinely not know how to play IE games. And up until this point thought that maybe i'm just misunderstanding what they are saying, but are people really not able to grasp that you're suppose to pause the game before issuing a command? I was 10 years old when i played the first IE game and i managed to figure that out.
  17. A cut from the sales after release of course. Wasn't that suppose to go in to funding the expansion? But reading their interview on http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/03/19/project-eternity-release-date/ I'm sort of happy that they backed the project, because by the sound of it they did it purely on faith. It's a kickstarter project and there's some chance that everyone who enjoys this type of game has already backed it. Although they are putting their faith in to the pre-order statistics, i don't think it's quite the same. And by the sound of it they really do want this project to have a s much success as possible and aren't just moneygrubbers.
  18. There are 2 spells of the druid that i'm not really a fan of. The Flame sword and and the Insect Swarm. They are kind of a rip off from DnD. Also i don't think the druid needs the flaming sword, as he will most likely use shapeshifting from for close combat and they can select a damage type at the start of the game. I would prefer if they made it in to a stamina sap sword or something conditional or with a twist. As for the insect swarm i hope it doesn't come with the damage soundtrack after casting it. Uhh Uhh Uhh Uhh Uhh Uhh Uhh Uhh
  19. I'm actually glad the wizards don't have squences or contingencies. Now buffs are a tactical choice in combat not just a passive power upgrade. And if it means i won't have to spend 5 min of combat just debuffing the wizards every time i encounter one, so i can get through their defenses, i'm all for it.
  20. It's a shame they used the stag form. The ibex goat would have been awesome and i think it would fit along the lines of the pagan sabbatic goat.
  21. Who's composing the music?
  22. there will only be humanoid shapeshifting forms i believe. i wouldn't mind playing this http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11112/111128995/3261916-3962841448-man-s.jpg
  23. I noticed on reddit that you guys had an AMA 2 weeks ago. But i didn't find any information about this on the official forums. Is there a single website that keeps track of all these events?
