as long as you realize that not every Dane is supporting the idea of ridiculing other nations .. and that those who do, actually want the ME to be hateful, in order to rally supoort for their twisted cause.. so by supporting a boykott you are actually sending the signal that the free expression of thought and ideas are wrong .. and so you are actually supporting all the wrong groups in all the wrong places! Some people want a war - and they want the general population to be fearful - but in order to do this they must convince them that, not only are they in danger - they can't speak out either...

that's what happens when multiple people writes a kalender on fictive dates and events.. it get's messy and full of inconsistensies! Now if it was reality we could eventually discover the mistakes and correct them (as thing do tend to happen in a pretty set order) - here we must assume that the entire construct is faulted due to human error .. and is, at best, therefore unimportant!

well you only touch foot on Central America soil .. you don't really discover The New World.. which also lead me to believe that the expansion would cover that more extensively .. or maybe a Viking Invasion 2 ?? (that would be a little wacky though .. ^_^)

there is a fine line when it comes to satire/comedy/karikature and ironic statements.. While we glady make fun of Christians we don't do so out of spite - but even if we do we are all a part of the religion and so we are poking fun at it from the inside.. which is something different entirely! White people can make all the jokes they want about other white people (from the inside as well), but once white people are poking fun at other ethnic groups a line has been crossed.. this we accept fully in western society! so why is that different from religion? When one group laughs at the expense of another group they are humiliating them, this is simple psychology.. The muslims world must feel attacked because it seems to them that both our religion and our culture thinks less of them - since we are ridiculing their most sacred.. (edit: This is where Danes are misunderstood - we make fun of people to show them that we accept them .. because we use humor to create a bond - and irony to show our friend that we can make fun of them, that they are part of the inner circle .. you can't make fun of anyone, in a good way, unless you truely accept them) what we need to understand is that we can't go about feeling superior - because I suspect we do! this again adds to the insult.. while they are clearly crossing a much more serious line than us - by burning embassies and killing (mostly each other) - we must still accept and understand that these feelings stem from something deeper! they don't just simply hate us by default - they are human beings and we are stepping on both their culture and religion all the time, if ever so diplomatic and "acceptable" (by western standards) .. it's the lack of respect that is the issue here - not wether or not we have a right to do it (by our laws).. I doubt that both Europeans and Americans truely wish to understand the world around us .. we are happy enough to see things from our perspective and judge others accordingly - our cultures have been dominant for the last millenium - so we must be right! right? ..... I feel that this is the overall sentiment, even if it's not expressed .. so I totally understand why we are regarded as arrogant and distant.. we sit from our high courts and judge all those who lead different lives than us .. while I can understand the need to control, for instance, Irans ability to aquire Nuclear Weapons. I can't help but feel a bit hypocritical about it - we are like the bully at school who refuses other kids to play anything but our game! Now I'm not saying we should disregard countries who openly supress their populace, but we need to back down just a bit - we can't control the world, nor should we .. if we are to influence them culturally we must do so by conviction and not force! You can't make a functional democracy through force of military or threaths.. although there are some evils in this world that must be fought - I just wish we wouldn't fight everything we see as too different.. - Rosbjerg

Well they are working on a Napoleon mod for RTW .. I don't think I would want a complete game dedicated to it! it's too narrow imo.. but it's actually a hard guess! and a 1800 campaign isn't unrealistic.. their particular style calls for a limitied campaign map and Europe (plus colonies) post 16th century is pretty extensive .. But maybe an Egyptian game - focusing on the rise and fall of the mighty Nile Empire?

Yep.. you are a DF-man .. no doubt! But we'll know how seriously this situation is tommorow after the friday prayer! and Lucius - you said that the DFU party was a private party? it was payed by their parent political party (with tax-money) and members of a public political party attended .. a party which everyone can join (and be kicked out of if you critisize the top) .. that's not private! and they didn't mock to send a message .. they were doing it in spite! I mean why step on someones toes just because you can? if it serves absolutely no purpose.. why do it? The drawings in JP served a purpose, so therefore I support them.. maybe they were stupid and narrowminded - but they were made to facilitate a discussion not to provoke! unlike the images drawn by DFU .. that said - the Middle East really should stop taking things so seriously!

But it seems things are cooling down just a bit .. even though protesters were throwing molotov ****tails at the embassy in Teheran last night! The sitting goverment has learned the lesson from last time and are condeming the video and actions of DFU.. which I respect! these drawings weren't made for satire they were made in spite.. Ugh...we could take a few lessons from the Danes. Some unknown irrelevant royalist would call it distateful .. and then that would be it .. I really doubt anyone would be outraged! but the cartoons would definitely be aired on TV.. but let me give you an example .. when you had the whole issue with Janet Jackson showing a taped breast .. our leading TV-station aired a commercial (they paid for) showing a very obese man dancing naked across the screen with the words "****ing Relax!!" written above him .. in response to the reactions in USA .. and no-one in Denmark said it was outragous for that commercial to air (even in prime-time).. So the average Dane is pretty openminded (and indifferent)..

we already are making fun of everyone.. Nothing is sacred here, especially not ourselves.. much to our grief the rest of the world does not share our humor (or lack of) but unlike the drawing in the "Jylland Post" these were meant as provocation .. since the youth orginisation in question is rather anti-islamic and pretty non-tolerant of foreigners.. Their defending argument is that it was meant as a joke .. an internal joke and not as a provocation intended for the world to see! Several members have gone in hiding in anticipation of terrorist attacks aimed at them (I personally think they are pulling a political stunt)

yeah .. already we are seeing the beginning of boykotts and mild retaliation (internet hackings etc) .. several goverments condeming the insults and several religious figures (in Denmark) calling for a renewed wave of demonstrations and protests .. The only positive in this is that it seems the political party in question (The Danish Peoples Front) are in a real crisis over this .. even though the are largely known as a racist and anti-islamic party.. I just hope they are wiped off the political map!

I think you've just experianced something out of the ordinary! I highly doubt you've bought a particular buggy game.. as previously stated - restart and try again! now that may suck, but take comfort at the fact that it didn't happen much later in the game!

you need the "it depends" opstion as well as "equally important" .. I would say Charisma, but that's just an indication of my particular playing style .. ^_^
