  1. Could. It's their right. They shouldn't have to.
  2. I've been rooting for Ubisoft to fend off the take over for a long time. This is great news.
  3. Show me anyone who can be confortable being accused of such horrible crime Let me rephrase, I wasn't using uncomfortable in that way. He can be visibly uncomfortable. He was taking issue with probing questions and becoming irritated that they would probe subject matters that are categorically relevant to the scenarios that existentially could have occurred. He was exasperated at the direction and line of the inquiries and had a juvenile manner of acting wronged for even being probed with regards to certain subject matter. He should know that whatever he says, even if true, can't be taken as fact. Thus inquiry is not just about developing granularity with respect to his purported truth, but also digs into the subject matter of the claims against him. His role is the humor What is surprising is the lack of self-awareness of the judiciary process, and how knowledge and inquiry works. I realize he was already upset, but he found place to compose himself repeatedly through that ordeal, but at certain moments he couldn't help but become miffed that people would carry out thought experiments by probing potential scenarios. It was obvious through his statement that he wanted his word to be taken on his character, citing so many people to endorse his character regardless if true, comes across like a farce in what is supposed to be a epistemological process.
  4. That's understandable though. One of the points of cross examining- same as for anyone who gets cross examines in an antagonistic setting- is to get the witness/ suspect to make inconsistent statements. They may be perfectly innocent inconsistent statements but the idea is to get him demonstrably 'lying' at which point you can call into question the rest of their testimony. Sticking as close as possible to prepared answers is the absolute best policy to follow. People have a natural instinct to embellish stories and fill in gaps, and that isn't a great policy when you're being put under the microscope (see Hillary under sniper fire, or Brian Williams being shot at in helicopters as prominent examples; and they weren't under oath). My point is that as a judge he should be in on the tactics and have a bit more of a chin and back in playing his defensive role to the probing questionnaires. Instead we see a judge uncomfortable with the whole notion of the affair. It's fine if he sticks with his story, he showed very little awareness towards the process.
  5. Aging Japan: Manga comics turn gray - but spirited - along with readers
  6. I mostly use VLC these days, but when I did watch anime, nothing could beat Media Player Classic + Kawaii Codec Pack. VLC was still not up to a lot of subtitle tasks, and also didn't deal with compression all that well for cell shaded images.
  7. The degradation of political tact is the last step in hypernormalization. I thought more media exposure was supposed to keep people at the top of their game, but things are just slipping back into what history has probably always been.
  8. While I think Pillars could in theory be a good MMO franchise, I also think Obsidian is probably not the right shop to build an MMO out given where their strengths lie. Too many resources would be diverted away from their signature and I think it would cripple them unless they had a huge cash injection from someone like Microsoft. Assuming they stay independent, and MMO might over-stretch their Pillars IP which they own outright. Best to not water it down too much, and MMOs have a tendency to do that as long as the MMO is still successful enough. Plus they tend to demand a lot of ongoing content support. Other than an ideal vision of what that game would look like, the more I think about it the more I think it's not prudent or practical for Obsidian and the Pillars franchise. It would distract from the core that built up Pillars to what it is.
  9. I watched Kavanaugh's statement first, and thought he came off alright, for the most part if you grant him the benefit of the doubt and place that in context with his argued innocents. Then he went on to be questioned and that looked extremely poor. It's like he didn't understand the judiciary process at all, and was more inclined that his prepared testimony would be enough to dispel and doubts. I don't expect him to not be emotional or irritated, but it came out in the wrong ways. There was a point in which he should have gathered composure worked constructively towards the clearing of his name. It's clear he was not comfortable stepping outside of his prepared testimony. Let's say the accuser was assaulted, but was mistaken in who it was. Kavanaugh is cleared. I still don't think he's a good fit for the Scotus, and the GOP pressures around him only make things far more swampish.
  10. Could be a great idea, MMOs are big time sinks though and I probably couldn't justify playing it unless I convinced a lot of friends to joined me. I bet it would take off better if Obs made a 3D action/adventure rpg first. Which would establish the franchise a bit wider. I don't think Obsidian has quite the reach of Square, and FF14 is the only real MMO to chip away at WoW. I don't think TES:O is anything to model on. If Microsoft does buy them, it could be quite successful. It would need to avoid in any wanky PC client that Microsoft tries to push though.
  11. One thing I do think this thread can do less with, is those 10-20 minute Youtube news reels that where a few people draw out video game news. I'd rather have the individual news items posted separately as they have been announced. That sort of down stream news reporting just wastes everybody's time.
  12. Of course you're not obligated to, it's just now you've inquired about whether something is for sale to make an internet point instead of for the intent of purchasing.
  13. You are leaving out a few things. Those mini's you posted are plastic, not pewter. AKA, they cost significantly less to make. Also, those are promo pics, not pics of the models in hand so we don't really know for sure what they will actually look like for real. I find it very hard to believe they are being painted and modeled to the quality the pics suggest, in that volume, for that price. Your post implies they are "converted", as in models made of parts from multiple other models. Unless he got them all free from some box he found in a basement he is probably making next to no money, and if he did get them free he is basically charging purely for the paint job. The entire site is a bit strange. It's only the 1:72 scale range (most of the figurines are 1:30 and 1:32 scale) that comes at those exceptionally low prices, most of the other miniatures seems to start out at about 30£/model. Most of the stuff can't be added to your cart (all of those 1:72 models posted above for example) so it's unclear if they can actually be purchased. Glad we could clear that up. You better actually buy those if you sent an email just to make a point on a forum.
  14. Reminds me of this old Yugioh GBA game I borrowed once from a friend. You sort of walk around a city looking for people to play cards, with a loose rpg story basically butressing what was mostly a digital version of the playing card game.
  15. ****ing finally! A proper release of these versions. Now I don't have to waste an afternoon getting a translated Rondo PCEngine rom working on an emulator for my annual Halloween playthrough.
  16. One nice thing about the court of public opinion is that it doesn't have a statute of limitation.
  17. It's been a long time since I checked in on this game's development. It looks leagues better than I last saw. Pillars may now finally have some competition in this crpg revival market.
  18. Watching Trump's international politics unfold feels like a fever dream.
  19. Red Dead Redemption 2's launch footprint is 105GB... wow. https://www.gamesradar.com/red-dead-redemption-2-requires-105gb-of-space-playstation-gets-content-30-days-early/
