The Political Quinceañera Thread
It is very much as if America has been psychologically immunized against gun control. You have all seen these mass shootings endless times and been unable to arrive at a solution, I suppose both because radical solutions are difficult, and because you are now predetermined to not seek them. There is only one solution guaranteed to work, get rid of the guns. Never gonna happen in the current climate though. Do you have any notion how uselessly impractical it would be to try and solve the mass shooting problem by curing or barring from ownership every american with a potentially dangerous mental condition. Besides, the gun lobby would view even half arsed attempts as encroachments on their rights. The logical conclusion, which is gun control the way most of the rest of the world does it, lies several generations ahead.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - NOW IN 5$ LOOT BOXES
Huh, I didn't know they even did that. With all the popups I get on my mobile games, I'm impervious to such machinations. They want the pirates in their install base as well, while of course pretending that they don't. The risk that a segment might jump ship and that Linux or whatever might lose its fringe status and a common alternative might emerge and windows then not being THE OS anymore is present, then OEMs aren't worth as much anymore.

Nope, It's the hard drive tax. They slap it on any media capable of storing data. So whoever you are you have already contributed to the piracy eco system.

Implicit bias test
mmm yeah, they show you a bunch of pictures of people who are thin and some who are neither particularly thin nor fat but somewhere in between and teach you that they are all 'thin'. That's a false dichotomy. Thin isn't the opposite of fat - or rather, those people aren't all 'thin' some of them are regular size, you know, where you want to be if you aren't obsessive. Indeed being extra thin can have a bunch of negative associations as well. What about healthy and not healthy. Most regular humans fall somewhere in between.

Implicit bias test
https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/uk/takeatest.html I took this test for giggles. Apparently I have a slight bias for associating the male gender with the sciences and the female gender with the humanities. So proof that the patriarchy is real ? I suspect the learning curve is a big factor though. They test reaction time, and the whole time I felt that the test was trying to tell me that there was a connection. More precisely, if I know for a fact that one valid outcome, one that does not result in an error or taking too long which invalidates the result, is playing the test like a misogynist. Well, I'm a power gamer, I do whatever works best. The only frame I got perfect was the last one and I played that one trying to anticipate the answers.

You did WHAT Today
As far as I can remember Denmark has a limit on the commencement of cancer treatment of one month. Meaning if you have not been given treatment one month after your diagnosis the hospital is heavily penalized, and you would be sent to Germany or anywhere else with capacity. The news loves to bring up that our cancer treatment success rate is the worst in Scandinavia. Say you need back surgery for pain relief though, yes you could be on the list for years. They want people who are well off to give up on the list and pony up for the treatment themselves I guess.
-
You did WHAT Today
The time limits on treatment is different for different conditions obviously and you are free to find a private operator if you don't want to wait. You wait because doing so is free. If you have cancer or something else with a time factor, it's different.

You did WHAT Today
I think I might actually be retarded. I chance met a former work colleague and I couldn't for the life of me remember her name. So I just gave her two thumbs up and smiled like a moron and got out of there. Why does this happen to me.

Nioh. eeehhh. It's alright I suppose. I'm not a fan of so many moves being part of progression when there aren't very many to begin with. Stances are a dumb idea. Use combos instead. Maybe that's just the fighting game guy in me. Actual learning curve is just getting used to all the things that are a bit ass backwards. Other than that just spam quick attack like it was Dark Souls.

I just use the same tiny logitech dongle that came with a mouse I don't even have anymore. It does keyboard, ps4 controller and headphones at the same time. I mean sometimes the audio starts to sputter with all that going on, but point being, don't bother with the PS4 dongle, anything using the default windows wireless driver works just fine and they are all dirt cheap.

Managed to get the bluetooth to work again just fiddling around with the settings, Not my preference though, I need the bandwith for headphones and other stuff.

You still need something called DS4windows, my experience has not been stellar. The cabled connection was a bit janky, the bluetooth worked fine, but now it's stopped working altogether. That said once it's up and running you can peruse steam menus with it, I assume things like the big picture and the VR equivalent. Supposedly Sony did a firmware update that makes the driver part of it plug and play, I read that somewhere, didn't work out of the box for me though and it won't unless yours is new, as in recently produced.

Luckily I'm not the only one with that issue: I completely agree with this video, how games in general have moved, but also there are times where I like a little hand holding due to time constraints and in the witcher's case, some places not being named on the map and not being able to put your own points and notes on the map. The witcher sense thing continues after the white dots, it goes beyond just a complaint about the nature of quest markers. The quest design, main story and dialogue heavy stuff aside, gets samey and boring. Too many variations of the same thing. Fallout 4 is a more extreme example, that's why you don't want to do them, not because of the markers. Kill bandit leader x at coorinate y, recieve reward. Then do it 100 more times.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - NOW IN 5$ LOOT BOXES
I just bought a Dual Shock 4 for use with my PC. The difference from an xbox controller is minimal really, but since I have to use software to get it to emulate an Xbox controller that also means that I can independently remap all the keys and even store macros. It suffers greatly from the 'put LEDs everywhere syndrome' though, if you are playing with the lights low it's like an epileptic disco ball. Blink yellow now because you are holding down the run button, blink red now because the controller is rumbling, blue now because you are breathing air... But hey, now I have two controllers, so fighting game time.

Doesn't seem like there is any more learning curve to go and I most of the time I die because of the broken target lock on. If you get more than x meters away from your enemy it will break lock and if you were backing up you will now be turned around - your back facing the enemy. In the short time it takes to turn back and re acquire lock you can easily be killed by a long range attack. The auto lock on doesn't work either, It's supposed to automatically lock on an enemy if you attack in melee, doesn't work very often. The environment will randomly break lock as well, doorways, pillars, etc, things that block LoS. When you do lose lock, which is very often unless you are up close all the time, you roll around aimlessly not knowing which side is up hoping you get lucky enough to land facing the enemy at an angle that doesn't get you instantly killed. I'm gonna give Nioh a try.
