As opposed to what. The employer paying more value in money than the work is worth. I like it!. Do you have a word for that too, and where can I find these employers ?
  2. How about 5 years in the slammer for suggesting the pope would get boinked up the arse by 'very active homosexual devils' once he died. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/f...icle4732048.ece This was in response to the popes position on contraception which is hurting AIDS campaigns in developing nations, and various other reactionary backwardsness after Ratzinger took office, or was appointed by god or whatever they call it.

Karl Marx mostly makes sense in a situation where a majority of the population slave away in factories and have to band together to do more than barely survive. It's not terribly relevant in the information age. History tells us that Capitalists systems are neither inherently unstable or headed towards implosion and revolution. Capitalism is merely the default organisation, a force of nature more than a system of government or ideology. Everything looked a lot different in the aftermath of the industrial revolution though.

Hmm. And who belongs to this "capitalist class", exactly? Scrooge Mcduck

It's a bit strange to me that it wasn't 'off with the head' for the emperor. When the king plays along with the wrong regime it has had that effect time and again. Fortunately the Japanese have taken to the post war constitution, and are the least worry in that region.

I think we, whoever that is in this instance, may be arrogant in only thinking that Ze Germans and the Japs could be so servile and unquestioning as to allow a ruthless fascist dictatorship to literally ruin the country with war. It could happen anywhere, and the lesson is to be on guard for it, always.
  8. An update. Deciding to give the inside of the box a good cleaning I discovered that the filter on the big case fan situated next to the GFX slot was more a solid mass of accumulated dust than a filter. I took it out, and now the machine runs with quite tolerable noise levels. The R4850 has an only just capable cooler and doesn't respond well at all to bad airflow.
  9. Nothing gets my blood boiling like people who profess to tell you what worlds you can and can't use. Language bullying is about a million times more annoying than swearing, which is merely childish except for those rare occasions where it seems to fit the occasion. By all means swear all you like, just don't expect that to do anything for the game on its own.
  10. I think most of 'em look like guys in mech suits, which is also my least favorite mech design. Can't they just can those mechs and move on.

I heard someone mention bloodlines. Well, in that game you needed 4 or more points in guns for it not to be completely useless. The same is true of many builds that only come together at level x, regardless of the system used. The worst example I can think of off the top of my head is the witcher where the combat moves unlocked slowly and painfully, or not at all because there was no reason to advance both steel and silver styles. When I'm fiending for XP anywhere I can find them, it's usually because I'm trying to get to where my build starts to get fun.
  12. What, it's free ? Is it mechwarrior 4 or 5. This is confusing. Also the Atlas looks stupid, they always have. As long as I can have my Madcats, Ravens, Vultures, Cougars and Daishis.
  13. There is a notable difference between shooting down an airliner through incompetence or neglect, and a deliberate terrorist action. Did the pilot responsible for the mistake get a medal ?, if not, what does it matter what other medals were given out at the time.
  14. Was he ever popular or was he just the crown prince being groomed for party leadership. That's what he have now too by the way, our PM would be quite unlikely to win anything by himself, without the backing and resources of his office and the party. It's not often a PM is so unpopular he actually has to go out and defend his decision not to resign.
  15. Yeah ok, I'll put the homeworld games up there too.
  16. You don't get off after killing a plane full of people, I mean what kind of message does that send. However... Does the director of the FBI usually involve himself in political debate, make statements to the press about what he thinks about this and that and justice in general. You would think as a federal employee he would be forbidden to say anything even remotely likely to influence foreign relations.
  17. Who cares what those untermensch think.
  18. Whatever, I piss upon the console controller used in FPS games from a great height.
  19. It's pretty obvious : in order to get the greatest challenge and pleasure out of an FPS you need the better input device. If you are just a casual gamer and don't care about the competitive (I hesitate to use the term) 'sports' element, then obviously it doesn't matter, but if you have had the experience of playing FPS on LAN or tournaments the controller seems like a pathetic thing indeed, there is no denying it.
  20. My mother once told me how she thought she was haunted by a poltergeist because the pantry started to make the most infernal noise in the dead of night and there was this sense of a presence there with her. This was in Sweden out in the middle of forested nowere, there is a lot of that in Sweden, and she was alone in the house when it happened. She didn't investigate or anything she just drove off terrified. I dunno, to me pots and pans making noise is just pots and pans making noise, eminently explainable by my mother being easily spooked and physics, gust of wind, something placed precariously etc. so I guess I'm with mkreku, but sure you can believe whatever you like if it makes your life more exciting.
  21. Actually I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Every lethal illness has it's last stages, and trying just for the sake of medicine to prolong life indefinitely would be a much worse policy. As long as the patient is lucid, however, he or she should have a say in the matter.
  22. What I don't understand is why the consoles don't all offer mouse support. Technically it wouldn't pose any problems. I guess it's somehow contrary to their design philosophy, and the ease of use factor. They don't want the most precise input device available currently, and that's why I can't take them seriously.
  23. But... you can't aim with a controller. Well, you can, but why would you want to ?
  24. Contradiction in terms. Or maybe it's more like being the worlds smartest horse. Pretty smart for a horse, but it fails when compared to human intelligence.
