umm. He uses his shotgun to frighten off animal carcasses ??? Were you trying to be funny ?
  2. Medieval total war : Kingdoms. It's the best of all the Total War series by far, the Crusades campaign in particular.

No, this is, simply put, bull****. If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you lose weight. More than that, we simply don't understand. The biochemistry is too complicated and has not been studied well enough. Carbohydrates and fats are ultimately calorie sources. Your body burns them. In the short-term, the only two things that matter for "health" are protein and calories. In the long term, there are certain trace amounts of various vitamins you need. Past that, we simply don't know - why do you think the status quo for "healthy eating" changes so often? Human nutrition is really ****ing complicated, and we don't fully understand it. This is about converting less of what you eat into fat on your body after you have lost weight. Meat is tasty and you eat less of it to get full than you do pasta and bread, and it's something that people can stick to, trying to stick to 'boring' meals after a diet usually doesn't last.
  4. Why would he be extradited to the US, as I understand it no one there is bringing charges. It's beside the point that assorted pundits and lunatics have called for his execution, that's just the colour of political discourse right now, it represents no official stance. I suppose it's entirely possible that some one set him up. One can't really know.
  5. Well duhh, it's a children's book.

They like to cook things in oil, Thai is more about the wok.

Eat meat and stay off the carbs, that's what will make the weight stay off. Starving yourself won't work, and it will also decrease your energy levels.

You see, here's the thing - we don't know why trans fat is "bad," or even if it is "bad." We don't understand the biochemistry. Current nutrition is based on some very shoddy science with large, poorly-controlled correlative studies. I'm quite sure that someone can get their daily limit of calories from McDonalds (let's say, 2000 kcal/day), and with a bit of vitamin supplements, be completely fine. The only real problem might be sodium. You know they couldn't technically prove that asbestos was bad for you for several years after the connection with cancer and respiratory illnesses was made, a lot more people died as a result. Do I want to chance it ? Not particularly. Trans fat is linked with heart disease according to Wikipedia (that's not scientific, I know) but it does say that most governments recommend a cap just for that reason. I'll take their word for it.

Yeah, didn't seem like a big scoop to me. The doctor warned him in the beginning, but I guess there would have been no movie if he had done the sensible thing.

Plus the US has no limit on trans fat content, best described as tasty man made food industry industrial waste, personal choice and all that. It's bad for you, and it's worse for you in the states.
  11. It's not all retarded, just most of it. Could be worse I suppose. Anyway I got tired of all the micromanagement that is apparently a big part of the appeal for most people. Don't get me wrong, the more ways you can interact with the environment the better, these all add to the game, but can I just have a button to press instead of going into the inventory and eating 20 sausages - one at a time - to recuperate from my last encounter. Logic dictates that there is a skill trainer out there somewhere who can teach you to take a dump and another harder to find one who can teach you to wipe your arse.
  12. I can't stand people who chew gum and smoke at the same time. Choose one dammit, both.... it's just unnatural.
  13. Yes, because damn those graphics sucked. And the physics. And the world design. And the voice acting. Blah blah blah. Sometimes this board makes me so tired. Are you all idiots? No the graphics were good as well, that makes two things. It's all for nothing if it can't hold your interest though. You don't seem to be very demanding in the various elements that make up a good RPG, more power to you. Some kids play the best with an empty cardboard box. Just don't go around calling people 'idiots' who need at least a small smidgen of things like characterization, plot, atmosphere etc. to get going. It's not fair. For me, in 99% of Two worlds two encounters my first sentiment was 'I don't care whether you live or die, get to the point or I'm pressing escape'.
  14. Blade of Darkness was indeed awesome, and this time it's not just nostalgia talking. Too bad it can only run on win98 virtual machine, doesn't work in compatibility mode, and it's also very prone to driver related crashes. I wish GoG would give it a workover. Two worlds 2 has the best melee system I have seen in a long while, unfortunately it was the only good thing about the game.
  15. Steam has this ATI driver wizard where you just press a button and it does everything itself, including restarts. I love it.
  16. I got Risen, it's garbage. I just can't get over the bad voice acting. Everyone talks very slowly, like they were hit on the head, or maybe a result of island in-breeding ?. They sure spend a lot of time going on about the bleedin' obvious. I have taken to pressing escape instantly and then trying to reverse engineer the conversation from my list of replies, then checking the journal if it was a quest. I guess I can gift it. (j/k)

I'm eating carrots. To lose weight. It doesn't work if you eat them by the bag though, also they contain a vitamin you can overload on, or so I hear.
  18. Unfortunately you are such a positive and 'glass half full' kinda guy that you like everything, which is a good thing of course, just not when it comes to game recommendations.
  19. How is Risen. I'm wanting to play an RPG and I can't find anything good.
  20. I actually got physically ill when a colleague started decorating our workspace with Christmas junk. I have violently hated Christmas since about the age of 18.
  21. Pitch a tent in hyde park and learn ju jitsu to fight off the vagrants. yeah, I got nothing.
  22. I couldn't get into it, after I spent all my arrows trying to kill a peasant woman for practice with my expert mongol archer I gave up. I also didn't really understand the core gameplay. I trucked around in what I took to be map mode without encountering anything other than scattered towns - what do you do in this game ?.
  23. he really walked into that one.
  24. The Catholic church is a conservative institution, you have to look outside it for innovation. Galileo, Martin Luther, all had to pay a high price for defying convention.
