Open world or level based?
I love bronzepoem. I completely agree with him - Oblivion might seem big and open, but it's really limited in depth. He hits the nail on the head when says "if we play Oblivion for a while we get tired and feel alone". The game gets shallow. It is for precisely this reason I'd prefer Obsidian stick to a more closed off world. Edit: And judging by the poll, most people agree.

Monique D. Davis - a bigot
Yeah, well if it were Australia I'd tell you to get over it and worry about something else. But Americans seems to have an interpretation of religion (and everything) that is far too literal. It's probably all the Protestants. Booo you need more Catholics.

Exercise
Nah man go for it. Start at 5 to 10km first and see how you go. In cross country it's more about getting to the end (endurance) than speed. Speed can come later. Here are some articles I've bookmarked about the benefits moderate exercise in youth can have for you now and later in life: Exercise fights disease and cancer: http://www.physorg.com/news126282509.html Exercise fights dementia: http://www.physorg.com/news117303719.html Exercise speeds up your regeneration rate and increases skin health: http://www.physorg.com/news115485563.html Exercise cuts fatigue by more than half and increases energy levels - sedentary lifestyle implicated in fatigue: http://www.physorg.com/news123419982.html

Exercise
You're aiming for 8.5 miles in 1.5 hrs? That's what the regulars do as the combat fitness test (with 15kgs of kit). It's a tough target, but you're young and it's good to set your sights high. If you're doing that sort of thing for fun I'd seriously suggest you consider the Forces, mate! I've been doing competitive cross-country running and cycling since I was 6 years old... well, insofar as a 6 year old can compete. It might help to explain the quirky condition my body is in, which is that I never really lose or put on weight and never really get unfit. I can fluctuate about 5kg up if I do lots of weights though. Right now I'm at 70kg at about 6 foot. Which is why I suspect I wouldn't work in the Reserves (too small). But yeah for the past 2 years I was doing training for Inward Bound, which as the link describes is very intensive. We carry a minimum of 5kg by rules, but mine usually ends up about 8-10kg (2kg food, 3kg water, then various misc like thermal blankets and a change of clothing). I've participated in division 4 both times. We ran 50km and 80km the first and second time. The first time took us 5.5 hours and we came 2nd out of 6. The second one took about 10 hours before we pulled out because we were lost. It turned out we were 10km from the endpoint and would have come 3rd because 3 other teams had already pulled out. Oh well. As division 4 being in the middle, we started running at about 2am both times.

Blondes vs Brunettes 2008 Edition
Brunettes. I especially love reddish hair. Auburn mmm. But if it's natural blonde, like a Norse girl, I'm cool with that. Edit: BLONDE WITH AN CAPITAL E.

Exercise
Well I think I got lots of exercise last night according the a) the stories, b) the cuts and bruises. But yeah I need to get back into shape. I like to be able to do 20km in 1.5 to 2 hours minimum without straining myself. Ideally up hill. I'm not much of a short distance runner, but I think 2.4km in 9 minutes is pretty good. What's that, 16km per hour? Nice.

Horror writer King blasts banning violent videogames
Of course. But as far as I can tell you're only giving credence to the "governments should censor violent games from children" stance. Governments should make it so that if a kid wants a game, the parent needs to buy it for the kid, and has a big blaring warning about what the game is. This way it cannot be said the government is taking on the role of the parent - as it makes the parent more actively involved, forces them to make a moral choice about their children rather than continue in ignorance of the game's nature, ideally. I'm thinking like cigarettes have "THESE WILL KILL YOU, BITCH" (is it also surrogate parenting when the government puts death labels on cigarettes?) rather than the small poxy little classification logo at the bottom corner of the game box. And I think that if such a game gets into the hands of a minor it should be a reportable offence as bad as selling porn, gambling or alcohol to minors. Right now, even though legally there is really no difference, in practice there is.

Cliches are fine when done correctly. They're what made NOLF and Fallout so awesome.

Um, but that's part of the atmosphere of the genre.

Horror writer King blasts banning violent videogames
Oh? The government has always acted as a 'surrogate parent'. Forums require a certain age for membership, for example. Porn, gambling, alcohol and violent films have all been considered potentially detrimental to children, and thus restricted by the government. It makes logical sense (from a societal stability perspective) for the government to perform a certain minimal level of surrogate parenting.

What you did today
"A tad drunk" would have been an understatement. I believe I staggered out of Burger King last night screaming about how the service was unsatisfactory and how they'd all be hearing from my lawyers very soon.

But I think you need to know a fair bit about human psychology to comment on the detrimental impact it has on society as a whole over time.

Yeah? Maybe you could explain the 'common sense' then?

Horror writer King blasts banning violent videogames
Well, he may be a sociopath who loves writing gruesomely violent stories, but he's not exactly an authority on the matter.
