Why try to find a solution that actually works when you can create an imaginary one and pretend to fix it? Always looking for the easiest boogie man to point the masses at. Video games and music have failed too many times. God forbid we look at the mental health situation in South Carolina, or how someone with mental health issues had access to a gun, and I believe racism is systemic of poor education... I would be looking to investigate any of those things. Liberals have really low standards these days. Nine lives bought us the ability to tear down a flag. Not that I think anyone would ever win in this situation, but I hoped more good to come of this other than removing a flag. I guess I am saying is we lost human lives, and no one is trying to make them count in a meaningful way. Instead we attack the superficial.

Yes I don't disagree with that, they posted the video for clicks But there is also a moral aspect to the whole incident Hogan should just accept he was caught "with his hand in the cookie-jar " and move on Hogan has always been a jerk, and he always will be. Anyone that associates with him should be wary. I would be suing because of the invasion of privacy. I doubt Hogan cares he was caught red handed.

The media should stop being rewarded by releasing sex tapes, nude pics, etc of celebrities. They make money off this stuff. It is borderline blackmail without contacting the person you are blackmailing. I am not a Hogan fan, but on this one I am pulling for him. I don't agree with what he was doing, but Gawker didn't release it for morals... They wanted those clicks.

a really bad comparisonBG was a complete game and the expansion came later as a bonus. they never said "there will be an island and a tower but you will have to buy them separatelly" battlefront 2 had space battles, old and new trilogy era battles and much more from day 1 battefront 3 is half a game in comparison to 2 and it is already set in stone that the other half will be added later EA = Eventually Added.

I listen to a genre of music that isn't popular in America. I doubt if I were in a band that it would win any grammies. I would likely play for pennies in the states.

I also do not typically buy Episodic games until it is finished. If there is a sale... then I am willing to break that standard, but I don't pay full price for unfinished product. That depends on the sale price, as well. I do own the Game of Thrones game (I haven't played it, but it is 4 episodes in) and Kentucky Route Zero. Games that are episodic like Telltale games are usually story focused, and that means I am less likely to bite. I wouldn't buy a Diablo-clone if it only had a quarter of the classes in the game either.

Serpent in the Staglands - new party based RTwP RPG
Ganrich replied to archangel979's topic in Computer and Console
The problem is more that no review site has done a review. And than E3 happened very soon afterwards. E3 is 100% capable of overshadowing any game that doesn't get press there. Releasing a game prior to E3, and it not being a AAA game that will be talked about there, isn't a wise move. That said, I think if the right people do reviews on it it will turn out fine. I wonder if it is on TotalBiscuit's radar? -
Perhaps, instead of demonizing the industry for what it potentially is, we should be nurturing the industry to be better. Fear mongerring leads to avoidance. Where a grass roots movement to increase female developer populations would be nurturing. Something like the Fine Young Capitalists, which was ironically demonized by the fear mongerers.

I live in the South East US, and I have vacationed close to Charleston. They have a wonderful market there, and man... That vendor that sells hot sauce has some serious stuff. Anyway, as someone that has been born and raised south of the Mason Dixon line, and east of the Mississippi River, I can say there are definitely still racial issues here. I have, many years ago in High School, met people associated with the KKK. I didn't associate with them, but they expressed their participation in that group, and I expressed my disgust in it. I am sure there is more reason than the fact that these states were the bulk of the confederacy during our civil war, but I don't doubt that plays a part. I can say that there are older folks that still hold onto old hate, and I am sure they pass that on to their children. One day this country might realize that there is only one human race, but it will take time. I can say that even in my life (I am 31) that the generation of kids in their 20s are much more mixed (racially, for lack of a better term) than even 10 years ago. So, very slowly that hate is dying. At least by my observation. However, it is sad that something like this can still happen. My heart goes out to the families. They also caught this kid in Shelby NC, and I live around 1 hours drive from there. Let me say that I am not surprised he went to ground in Shelby.

Neither would I. However, when it was first announced people who were fans of the originals had hope. However misplaced it may have been, that hope probably got some advertising. Brand recognition is powerful. Another example: Oerwinde dropped a link saying that info had leaked of a Transformers game with cel shaded graphics to give the game a Gen 1 cartoon look. Transformers: Devastation. I, being a huge fan of Gen1 TFs, sent the link to about 5 friends who are also fans. The game could be crap, but all it took was the brand recognition to make me act irrational about it.

Hmm maybe I am too subjective on that matter, I think FO3 waqs most prayed by people who never played original fallout, but maybe its not true I like this: Todd Howard saying they wanted Fallout because it had "style" like no other game... FO3 was definitely played by more people that never played the first 2, but I don't have to have played Earthworm Jim to be aware of it. If I, as a gamer, see Earthworm Jim's new flashy shooter RPG from the developer of that other big game... it can be appealing. How many people walked past FO2 big boxes at their local store and thought, "that helmet on that box looks cool," then flipped the box over and didn't think the isometric game appealed to them. Then many years later see a shooter named after that game with the cool box, and said "heck yeah I can get behind that!" Also, in our age of the Internet, a few fanboys of the FO series probably took to forums like these and advertised for bethesda because they loved FO 1 and 2. The press did the same. If valve came out tomorrow and said "Half-Life 3" the Internet would go bananas, and it would advertise itself. If Blizzard said, "Hey, Arcanum sequel in the works." Then this forum and many others would spread the news. These forums house players that haven't played FO 1 or 2 I am sure (shame, though it is), same with HL3, or Arcanum. And Reddit likes to blow up when cult classics get some newfound love, as well. It definitely helps with these cult sequels and spiritual successors on kickstarter.

@Chilloutman - on the topic of "why not create their own IP like Rage?" Brand recognition. They didn't have to do much to get press. People new what to expect from the setting, as well. I remember Todd Howard saying they wanted Fallout because it had "style" like no other game... Then FO3 came out and, at least IMHO, most of that style was sucked out to make TES with guns. Also, the only new IP from Bethesda (in many years) I can think of is Brink. I guess Rage as well, technically. Either way, Bethesda isn't a publisher I ever look to for a new IP. They like to slowly churn out the same IPs over and over.

No need to thank me. I do love me some Darklands, and it looks like the devs did it justice. -
Serpent in the Staglands - new party based RTwP RPG
Ganrich replied to archangel979's topic in Computer and Console
Same here. Just bought it though. I am installing it first thing when I get home. TY for the reminder. -
We're trying to forget about that. I see. Into the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance bin of garbage we'd like to forget it goes then. Make sure there is room for Fallout: Brotherhood of steel.

NON-Obsidian South Park RPG Sequel Announced!
Ganrich replied to Infinitron's topic in Computer and Console
It will probably require Uplay, and Obsidian isn't involved so I will likely wait till it is $5 on sale. -
They were from a rare subgroup of Transformers, and their origins have never been explained in detail (afaik). Hasbro has a very discombobulated canon for the Transformers. Everything is canon. So, some bots have different back stories and/or characteristics. For instance, in the g1 cartoon Soundwave is a Megatron loyalist, but in the Marvel comics he was an usurper (like Starscream was on the cartoon, but less hopeless). Both are canon. The Constructicons have multiple back stories depending on the source, as well. Wiki for fembots: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Female_Transformer Wiki for TF canon: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Canon

Yeah, but no one did it like Chris. Not knocking any other iteration of the character, but we all have certain expectations of certain characters.
-
Yeah, it does. It looks like a mix of the Dreamwave comics and the Cartoon. The art style is awesome. EDIT: I wonder if Starscream is going to make an appearance as the article seems to indicate that they are bringing original VA's back to reprise their roles. I don't know if anyone can replicate Chris Latta. I love my Gen 1 Starscream.

1. Hell yeah! A gen1 TF game! TAKE MY MONEY!!! 2. I watch that movie at least twice a month, and have done so for nearly 30 years. It is sad. I'm probably going to watch it tonight now. It's my favorite animated movie. 3. It is weird, I am really excited to play as Wheeljack. This news made my year.

But thats the problem, it has nice ideas and is it was fun for some hours..not enough Mechs, maps, guns, etc it got boring really fast. Also DLC for horde mode..ugh..it came out with hardly any maps and content. Thats why it fell on its face. It´s one of those games noone cares anymore, overrated and hyped and no substance. (the groundwork was there which makes it sad it could have been better) BUT Shadowwarrior is a GREAT single player shooter..****ing awesome really. If you don´t have it, get it..steam sales should help. Edit: OMG Shadow Warrior2? REALLY? YESSSS! THIS IS GREAT! ALso **** co-op never design a game around that. NEVER. I actually think the number of mechs and guns are fine. They were incredibly balanced, and that is rare for a MP shooter these days. CoD and BF always seem to have one or two guns outshining the others, so instead of having a best in each gun category, TF had one gun in each category. I don't see the point in more guns if a large percentage of the population gravitates to the one Overtuned gun. If they overhaul the mech system then I could see TF2 getting more, but in the system they had (armor vs boost) you really only had 1 boost with heavy armor, 2 boost with moderate, and a 3 boost squishy. I think more pilot customization (cosmetically), and more gun accessories would have helped with longevity. I liked TF (which I still periodically play) because of the Parkour. That system made movement just as important as aiming. That system made it similar to old Arena shooters (Tribes, Quake, Unreal, etc) while having gunplay similar to CoD. Spot on networking and hit detection, as well. I played it for fun, not depth. Arena shooters are incredibly rare anymore, and if TF2 brings more depth then I can't say I will be disappointed. If they don't I know I will get $60 of gameplay for fun.

I snagged Homeworld, Child of Light, Hotline Miami 2, Ziggurat, Black Mesa, and Shadowrun Hong Kong Preorder (missed the KS, and it is 33% off). Child of Light that low is indeed a crime.

haven't played Titanfall then, I gather I agree with him, but Titanfall was the best MP shooter in many years. I had tons of fun with that game. It's sequel is probably the only EA published product I will buy day one.

MCA barely mentions his work on Pillars and quickly moves on, while he talks at length, and, dare I say, lovingly, about Wasteland 2 and TToN. Hmm... I noticed the following: Completely reading into things obviously, nothing to back it up, but what if he is planning his own Kickstarter project? There is a recent interview with Fargo where he talks about Van Buren IP InXile got and how Avellone had great ideas about it when talking to him.So my guess is that after TToN is out, Avellone is going to make a KS pitch for a Van Buren KS or "The real Fallout 3"
