There's something wrong with my brain. Every time I see Sam and Archmaester Marwyn I keep wondering when Marwyn invites him to the Slug Marv Club or yelling "Samwell! I must insist you accompany me back to the castle citadel immediately!" if he finds him with Gilly or someplace he's not supposed to be. That applies to most Harry Potter actors though. When Dumbledore showed up in one of Doctor Who's christmas specials I kept being weirded out through the entire episode.

I've read that theory before, not sure where. There's more secondary text these days than in the books. Apparently the World of Ice and Fire book confirms that Harry the Heir has a distant claim to the North, but I have never seen the family tree in that book. Might be petty but I refuse to get it (or any of the other side anthology projects) until the main series is finished. I doubt that it's part of Lord Baelish's direct plan though, I mean Sansa currently has the best claim to Winterfell and therefore the North. He just wants Harry to marry Sansa because Harry's essentially a miniature Robert Baratheon and he thinks he can be the grey eminence in that setup. So that's also why he creates a fake Arya for Ramsay and his dogs to play with - Sansa has a better claim and can expose Jeyne Pool if necessary after all. So really the only thing he wants Harry for is the only army not spent and ravaged by years of war. *shrug*

Good old Outcast. Back then I was one of the few guys at school who actually had a computer able to run that game in its full glory and it was gorgeous. It's a bit of a shame the remaster is the same game in a standard 3D engine. Might have been nice to see the game running in something else than 512x384 (or 1024x786 with the later high-res mod).

There are ups and downs as it is with every long running sci-fi franchise. SG-1 and the first three seasons of Atlantis I would recommend without hesitation. SG-1's initial season or two might seem a bit dated, what with it being a mid 90ies sci-fi TV show in a (then) contemporary setting. While I liked Stargate Universe (as the only person in the galaxy I guess ) I generally can't recommend watching it. It only ran for two seasons and ended on one of the worst, never resolved cliffhangers in the history of TV shows so spending the time and effort to start caring about the characters is sadly wasted. All that said, hey MGM buttholes, how about finishing SG:U's arc in some fashion and resolve that cliffhanger instead of making a show that directly contradicts current Stargate lore.

I haven't seen Wonder Woman yet, but that's not the really point. Both the first Captain America and Thor movies were okayish origin stories. Competently made, middle-of-the-road filmmaking, average and forgettable (doubly sad for Thor, I know Ash & Zack can do better than that) - certainly amongst the weakest offerings of the MCU. For better or worse that isn't nearly close to any of the DC movies. Those were much, but certainly not forgettable. The Winter Soldier on the other hand is amongst the best comic book movies ever made, Marvel, DC or otherwise. Hence the insanity of putting the generic Thor ahead of it.

Oh, wow. I already forgot that Euron was in this episode and I watched it an hour ago. That was... terrible. Not as terrible as the continuous close ups of Dany. I think I've seen enough of her "I'm looking tough but it really just looks like an O-face" look for a lifetime.

Moffat just loved his wibbly wobbly timey wimey balls a bit too much while Davis generally had more technobabble in his episodes. I don't think it helped that Moffat took over after Tennant. As much as I liked Matt Smith's tenure he had some big shoes to fill.

The Doctor can literally go to any place at any time in the entire universe and yet most episodes still play in London or some other English city. Gee...

Not that the last couple of Doctor Who (*cough* Clara *cough*) seasons didn't have issues, but the Doctor who is a time travelling alien able to change appearances and escape death whenever the showrunners need to regenerating into a woman (which even has in-canon prededence, so whatever) sure as hell isn't one of them. Started reading the Malazan Book of the Fallen series: Only about 3.2 million words left to read. Bit daunting with the thousands of characters and all, but at least the series finished. Unlike someone else's whose TV adaptation is the only closure we'll ever get. /bitter

Somehow missed that Dark Matter's third season is up so I've been doing come catching up. What can I say, I absolutely love how that show plays every cliché damn straight without ever apologizing for it.

It's been a busy few weeks at work including the odd business trip. Our colleagues in Budapest have been rather gracious hosts and this is one of the meals we had. Bad lighting and a company iPhone make for terrible pictures but it's recognizable enough.
