  1. Becouse hes talking about sims-type stamina. I whoud be for OK. But for what reason ? Is applaying stamina bar or some type of basics needs is realy so damn important to aplaying it to the game ? If we are taking about skyrim or fallout type of hash enviorment ten OK. But eating snaks only to "don't let" are char starv or drinking water whoud be more annoying then funny in my opinion. Ok we can have some time of "daily costs" that are dayily consuming our gold for with we eat and drink and i whoud be ok with some time of "resting" mechanics like we seen in BG. But applaying sim-like stamina mechanics in game mostly based on plot and storyline ... is more annoying addon then fully playable content.
  2. All i requaire is troll that don't look lame compared to others designs is that to much to handle ? Im very thankfull that at least they said that "This" was a troll. Otherwise i whoud bet it was Satyr, orc, bugbear or something simmillar. By the way, wy PE ogres look awsome like ogres but trolls look like WoWish/ deep ones/ deer crossover witch so .. "low quality" details ? From the look of them we don't even know how long their arms are, we don't know if they have weirdly looking lips or some king of bird beak, they have fur or slime skin ? They wearing some king of trusers or have just oddly yellowish legs ... it's just horrible.. expecionally it's in isomethics ...
  3. hmm... wow trolls .. yeah, PE Trolls are even more WoWish then WoW trolls i agree.
  4. All three abowe are better then a beggar with wood stick attached to his head
  5. To me PE trolls look more like Saryrs Allmost the same legs and horns (even propably size) but more "Monster" like insted of human. If they whoud not named there are Trolls i whoud think that those where Satyrs, or bugbears. I have no obiections about how trolls must "react" or how type of "inteligence" they must posses. But useing a NAME that was literly taken from Folklore, meant that at at least slight level they must have some risemblence. Otherwise it's trolling (yes trolling not trolls) culture or author that he creates them. This the same as im creating a novel with aumaua looking like this : It whoud be trolling aumaua creator concept.
  6. And im 100% sure that if devs didn't TELL you that those where troll you whoud even don't know that this is. The same as Ogre from Dragon Age, he was Ogre only by name and truely he was just "big horned darkspawn". If American Godzilla was not named "Godzilla" you whoud propably didn't even know what type of creature that was .. If we are useing some "name" of something that allready exist, lest make it atleast be in the same "box" the best troll concept is that in with without even Saying that this is "troll" you can say that it is "troll o at least trollish". But still i understad that Devs are trying to be original, ok. But at least let's make them look like they diserve to be called "trolls", Twilight vampires are not diserving to be even called "vampires" becouse putting them on the same level with Bloodlines "Vampires" is blasphemy. The same as putting PE trolls to the same box as trolls from D&D or folklore trolls or very good desined PE Ogre in with you have no possibility to mistake.
  7. And that's why Fallout NV is in difrent box then NWN. NwN classes are already some part of a backgroud but very shallow and "having no meaning" in main plot. You play the same as a wizard, the same as warrior, the same as druid and only have 1 guest for mages and 1 guest for druids, this is opposite to role playin. The point of role playing game is not level ups, spec skill etc. The point is ability to play role that you want play, in Apha Protocol is was agent, in Witcher it was Witcher, id Dragon Age "gray warden" and in Mass Effect "Shepard" .. In every of this game char has some background and is makeing char more beliveble. In dragon age they have made one basic "gray warden" with many possibilitys of endings (16 possible endings or more) and some backgrouds. In Fallout we also have many endings but no background. But in PE we have many races, cultures, subraces, classes and mayby orgins (i sad mayby becouse i can't imagine that there will be no type of background). Giving so many options does;n't mean that quanity is better then quality. If i want to play Druid dwarv i want to feel and have possibility to role play as druid dwarv not "generic adventurer or hero", if i want to play orlan fighter i want to have possibility to role play as and orlan fighter not "generic hero". The same from Aumama, mage, godlike, monk, rogue etc etc etc etc e....... If devs promiced that we will have an opiton to "PLAY" difrent races and cultures then i suppose that meant the cultures, races, classes have more meaning then pluses or minuses to statisctics or having/ not having some abilitis .. Becouse if don't then we go Dioblo 3 route with some classes and THE SAME gameplay .. if game play is the same, then why give so many options ? I still whoud like you to think about one subiect. Mage can become mage in many difrent ways, fighter can become a fighter in many difrent ways, fact that we are a human or dwarv can as much influence you life as a fact that someone was born in Africa or Canada .. (so very much) ... and a saying that this is "irrelevant" is the biggers ingnorancy i ever seen. If we have many options of races, clases etc but still end op with one "GENERIC char" then all those options are simple lie to make us feel good. And i whoud like to see good ROLE playing game, not action game with a subplot like Need For Speed undergound or Skyrim
  8. As i sad before about orgins. I played all of them (and some of them i looked on dragon age wiki about answers). Human Noble orgin was most "story affecting" orgin in orgins. Becouse : 1. Main plot mostly cosider humans and nobles ( Whole Loghain and arl howe thing, also arl Emmon) 2. They propably don't have time for other ognins, propably becouse of EA. Human noble coud change entire ending and in most quest with human nobles there are major difrences then in other orgins .. Secoud good orgin was Dwarv Noble, becouse it was oragin that changed thole "orzamar and deep roads" quest and also was very ... Athospheric. Other orgins was almost irrelevant, but dalish elf was the worst of all, even in dalish quest they are not the part of the same tribe as you and the only difrence is "oo... you are dalish from other tribe, how lovely..." and nothing more .. I thing the better way to deal with char history is not "DAO" but Arcanum becouse "orgin hisotry" is still as good as playable orgin, still gives you feel that your char has history and is not immersion breaking like others or Dragon Age starting from Ostagar. (without beginning story). Our character can chose his own backgroud like "personal revange" or "inteligent schollar" or anything less that gives you hints in entire game about characters past, it more beliveble them "100% blak state". Was start from Fallout Nev Vegas was good or bad ... ? No good or bad, but your character hav no relevant history. But after he get's bullet he start "big" campain and is becoming nemesis or messayah or the wastelands ... Sorry but is it belivble ? Not for me, secound thing. Past, as well and present time or future are 3 dimensions that bulid character in every book, novel, movie etc. Do you imagine movie rambo first blood without "wietnam soldier" orgin for Rambo ? Whoud you like "blank state" for him ? I can't say that blank state is bad, BUT having char with history makes storyline much more beliveble, emotional and personal. For example : First Bond movie Dr. NO an first Rambo Movie "First Blood". 1. In first Bond we don't know anything about Bonds past, plot is mostly "action" based and whole plot is mostly "non-personal" and not having anything to offer exept "action and some jokes made by bond". 2. Rambo movie, at the begining we don't know too much about him, besides "Delmar" (if i remember) is dead and he was his buddy in Wietnam, he was killed by cancer from "things their used". Nest we see cop that that is acting like an ****, and Rambo is held to jail. (by jail i meat in pilice station). We see that Rambo has history that haunts him. Allmost whole "plot" is os Rambo, but suprisly we don't have as much action as in Dr. No or other Rambo movies. Plot is very dramatic, personal and emotional compared to "dr. NO". This is the difrence between "blank state" and "having history" state. No one wnat "blank state" companions but deep with history etc. Then wy your main character must be made "worse". Saying that "orgin, history, part in not relevant" is ignorant. Becouse in every possibly book, or good story, even not having "relevant" tells us about our character. Do you imagine Game of Thrones with characters that have only "blank state" or main char (or one of them) that has "blank" state ? Everyone has history and everyone has somthing to bing to the table .. Even Frodo from Lord of the Rings had some hisotry and orgin. Not Relevan to he "destroy the ring-quest" but do you imagine a movie or a book with him without those scenes or chapters thet shows our where he lived, who he liked, etc... Im personaly for Arcanum type of orgins becouse it's easyest to do (much easy then playable orgins) but still not immersion breakink like "one orgin" or "blank state-orgin".
  9. "relevant" i like that word. Becouse ... everything in your live is relevant. You have no book or film character that doesn have "hisotry" before film or book is starting and at least in some point it pumps out. Everything is relevant and is makeing game beliveble, for example i create a char that knows how to craft from 1 level, from who i as ? Was he son of blacksmith, learned from alchemist or learn from the book. A guy that knows how to fight at level 1 better then other classes, how he gained those abilitis, was he trained, or was he learning alone. Druid, how a druid learn how to "BE a Druid" if whole life he was living inside a castle, town... secoundry WHY my char decided to become "ADVENTURER" insead if "Commoner" what motivation he was given besides "kill achdevil" ? (an i assume that are not gonna be copy and past from BG storyline) But's take a example of BG, ok i understand WHY main char was after "Main evil" becouse he killed Gorion, but what if gorions fate was nothing to main char, why he goes to neshkiel mines ? Past of the char as i sad is allwas "relevant" even not having "relevant story" says something about charcter ... I assume that you know that if you read any book, and from what i know devs say that game is for peaople that are "Reading" or at least like to "Read". ...
  10. Then don't kill his family until after I control him. If it happened before I controlled the character, then I have no investment in it. But there are more things then "killing familly" for christ sake ... If you want to control your character "Whole history" game must start few weeks after character are born ... Or you just say to your self "ok i have 20 yoers old char that knows nothing, where nothing and whole his entire live where living in sterille home".. sorry but i can't imagine that fully grown char has no previos history but after we "magicly" starts to conroll him he becomes "from zero to hero" ... it's simply not beliveble ...
  11. Sorry if im wrong but if im picking "Dwarv" that meats that he is Dwarv and will be Dwarv but also that he WAS dwarv. Picing a character and bulding their history i future is one, but roleplaying also combains a part of reacting for previous events. For example, if someone kill entire familly of that dwarv this event will in some way effect his whole future life ... Today and future are one of the factors that bulid character, but past is also bulding it. Not knowing your characters past is like not knowing you character entierly, and i like to feel like im acting like living person, not a doll that whanna-be
  12. Blank state like neverwinter nights 1, blak state like Arcanum or blank state like fallout New Vegas ? Im asking becouse you didn't have time to chose an answer in poll
  13. I whoud say YES and NO at the same time For example if you are highly known son of the prince/king etc. It whoud be beliveble that every one (or at least most) people know you so allmost every conversation shoud look difrent then a then from "commoner" orgin. But f you are unknown assasin that whats to start something difrent and put his past behind him it whoud be beliveble that almost nobody knows your past or orgin ... So it depends
  14. Yeah but im not saying "what type of starting storyline" obsidan must input to make good start. Im only considered about ogins, biography history of our char. Brecouse "living" in a city beside wizard is beliveble if you are wizard or other clas that don't need trainer, but not for barberians, druids etc .... In Mass Effect in general all classes are difrent only by abilitys becouse those are allways a "soliders", in some way simmilar to kotor 2 "jedi classes" ... i wonder why ... (sarcastic )
  15. Some orgins were good, human noble and dwarven noble. Dalish elf and dwaven commoner was horrible. Others where good at the begining but they had almost no inmpact on main story so ... BG style BG had no impact on the game, regardless of you class or race. The only thing that was difrent that some times someone respoundet to you like "hey your a dwav ? why your not in muntains ?". By the way .. yest adding some addictional respoundes, reaction and dialogs or even tweek a little some quest will kill budged complatly ... Besides .. it's not our problem "bugdet" we give most we coud, this is obsidian problem to make "wonderfull" game as they sad. So if it means that adding orgins, history etc will make this game better and high impact of it to a plot is better then no impact then it's their problem... I curious if they whoud give screenschots like this with horrible graphic whoud any one say "hay then don't have bodget deal with it" intead of "what a ****"
  16. BTW... Dalsh elf was one of most non-affecting story orgin, and possible the worst desingend ones. But becouse biowere didn't create good dalish elf, does we must completly delate possibility of having some history of our character ? If i remember coretly obsidian is makeing this game not bio ..
  17. In this point i agree and uderstand, not all Dragon age orgins was at the same level, sadly. There was 2 very good orhgins, 2 very lame and rest was "medium" at most. But that doesn't mean that becouse biowere didn't make good orgins we must complatly delate possibility of orgins in game .. Race and class is for example a hudge part of orgin. But not all of it, for example Barberian .. is he a tribe barberian, or is he barberian that was living in tribe but was wondering and working as mercenery. Wizard ... is he arcane sholar type or warlock type who was his teacher, where he gain his powers etc. .. those are very important questions ..
  18. In mass effect it affected mostly dialogs, and based on your history and orgin you gained 2 possible sidequest missions that was desined for specific history, bah .. you history coud be slitle mentioned thru mass efect 2 and mass efect 3 if you imported your character. so if you combine it from whole 3 games it's something. I DAO i can't agree, dwarven noble changed complatly the way how a gray warden looked at ech pretenders, human noble was at other hand have history that affected main quest mostly, a human noble gray warden coud even become a king/ queen and change another possible ending for chist sake .. if it is't "affecting" story line then i don't know what is ... Trait is something that gives you (+2 to hiding), orgin history is something that makes defrences in dialogs, reactions to you char, your opinion about some subject of world etc. If you have something that gives you (+2) to hiding and gives you same thing as orgin, history (dialogs etc) then it is historical trait like in neverwinter 2 and im ok with that .. But if history of character is only defined by "+2 or -2" to some statistic or ability and not giving anything more then whyare character needs any history .. why roleplay if you can take longswod +2 ? and have the same result ..
  19. Mayby, but wheres roleplaying in this ? If history orgin doesen't affect anything why those traits ? Is takeing "orphan" trait will give me some addictional dialogs in game like in NWN2 historical traits ? if yes i can understand .. but if this "orphan" trait gives me only +1 to sneaking that in me opinion it's better if it disapear compleatly. Secondry, your orgin is also are class and race, and i can't imagine playing 100% the same as a dwarv or human ... if there are not plot-related or dialog/reaction related difrencec why wy put more then 1 race at all ? becouse dwaves gain +2 to constitution and humans have balaced stats ? .. please ..
  20. Hi As a proud gamers we know that storyline and main plot is one of the most inportant part of the game. But before we enter epic main storyline we must at least create ouw character. To this time we know that we will have possibility to play difrent races, classes and even cultures. But what about our characters past ? One of the biggest issu i have when i start playing old D&D games is the "start of the game". Let's take Baldours Gate 1. How is it possible that are character learned how to become a druid if he didn't ever leave candlekeep before game events ? Adding "one" start begining for our character will do if we have classes like rogue or fighter that mostly whoud gain expierience and knowledge by training alone. But for druids, paladins, wizards and mostly for barberians and druids this type of "simmilar" begining is in some way immersion breaking. What type of history orgin and start of the game whoud you like to see in PE ? Yes Yes, we have a poll One thing, then i say orgins i mean our hisotry, race, class, culture and entire past before we "enter" main storyline
  21. I think they are more reminiscent to finless, horned Deep Ones than anything else, but whatever. Ekhm... deep ones, mix beetween fish and human without fins ? ... = Deformed human ? Deformed human + horns = PE trolls ... Aaaa ... now i understand Why you have to cheat me with a name "troll" i whoud understand "finless deep ones with horns" .. what is it april fool ?
  22. I allways was thinking that trolls where regenerating .. not ... sucking To the topic, still it looks more "Trollish" then hobgoblins with woodden horns, first Biowere give horns to ogres in Dragon age, now Obsidian give horns to trolls .. whats about those horns ? Whats next elfs with horns ? or horny dwaves ? (but elf with horns whoud like by the way good )
  23. They realized it looks horribly stupid? Mayby but still better then goblin after steroids with wooden horns
  24. Looks more like a zombie, doesn't it? Or horribly mutated human
