  1. Hey Gearbox, remember that IP you picked up at the THQ yard sale? Yeah, Homeworld? License this engine for it. Now.
  2. Do you mean on an active Kickstarter project or on Eternity specifically? If the former, you can adjust it any time before the campaign ends. If the latter, you should be able to go through the backer portal and make changes.
  3. They're climbing and rappelling, so yes actually.
  4. Think he means The Descent the film. Kinda agree.
  5. Well, been a while since something came through that actually looked interesting, and now two contenders have popped up and started raking in cash. Project: Rain World Platformer with stealth and combat elements where you play a slug-cat, trying to gather enough food to survive the coming rain season Gameplay is shown Non-professional developers $25k goal well on its way to target Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians Tactical RPG with an episodic story, with each episode focusing on a different protagonist from different times during a 77-year long war Concept art only Professional developers $600k goal with a solid start
  6. Shovel Knight apparently in crunch phase, hoping to release in the next few months The liquid samurai are snazzy but Mr. Hat is fantastic.
  7. Marvel Activision games delisted from Steam due to lapse in publishing license This also extends to other digital stores apparently.
  8. AC4 is 25% off on Steam, which makes it more than the on-going Amazon deal. However Steam has 25% off on the gold version, while Amazon has it at full price.
  9. They broadcast the show uncensored, which just proves the issue lies with video games specifically. Originally they had no adult-level rating, so games with adult content had to be censored to fit into the teen level rating. They introduced the R18+ rating so they could allow adult content in their games... and promptly refused to give it to games with adult content unless they censored it. Have fun with that logic.
  10. South Park: The Stick of Truth is already making koalas weep
  11. Non-Kickstarter projects are still welcome in the Kickstarter thread, where this project has been mentioned twice already, I believe.
  12. No buyers for rights to Kingdoms of Amalur, Project Copernicus Big question is whether nobody was interested or if they overvalued the lots and turned down those who were.
  13. ZOS was founded to get into MMOs, yes, but not by Bethesda; they were created by Zenimax, Beth's parent company. Since they're both subsidiaries of Zenimax, they share the Elder Scrolls IP, but they're different companies with different teams. Also, they're located about fifty miles apart. Would be a big building.
  14. Too late, they already outsourced it to Zenimax Online Studios. Bethesda's only publishing the game, so their developers are free.
  15. Steam hosts special sale for VGX nominees Considering how much of a steaming pile I've heard CoD was, I'm wondering if the people behind this thing don't just have a slot titled "Annual CoD entry". The same for Battlefield 4.
  16. PC Gaming Alliance to certify games starting March 2014 If you didn't know/forgot, this is an organization with backing from various big-name companies with an interest in keeping PC gaming alive and growing. A PCGA-certified game will be able to deliver all advertised and expected features, and also that it's not a broken pile of dung. The certification fee may keep indie developers from approaching it at first, but they rely more on word-of-mouth than anything. This is really more for large-scale releases where there have been disasters recently, i.e., Ashes, War Z, Sim Cities, etc.
  17. They claimed to have a plan; they may have wanted to hit the "easy come, easy go" crowd late in the campaign so there'd be less time for them to drop.
  18. Updates on two solid Kickstarters ending in the next 24 hours: Paradise Lost: First Contact Retro-art 2d-platformer with heavy inspiration from Mark of the Ninja and a vibe somewhere between Alien and ET Funded and has met its first three stretch goals: Localization, achievements, and a bonus chapter; another 17k will see improvements to the graphics The Mandate Space opera on a grand scale but with an X-Com approach to building your crew/fleet and a distinct Tsarists-in-space appeal Funded and has met its first stretch goal: Away missions; another 65k will see starbase boarding operations Update on longer-term projects: Stasis 2D isometric horror sci-fi adventure - no need to try and explain, he did it perfectly already About 7k short of its 100k goal and should handily reach its first two stretch goals in the remaining week Bloom: Memories An action-adventure RPG in a world torn between the mechanical and natural with a mother and her child at the center of the conflict About 3k short of its 40k goal with 9 days left - their first stretch goal at 50k is a very reasonable localization to Russian, German, and another language
  19. Steam probably has some sort of agreement on how long they can have a game/DLC before putting it into the sales. Burial at Sea is, what, a month old? Not nearly long enough.
  20. If it's anything like Mandate, a person posted a $10,000 pledge only to suddenly withdraw it. Mandate was $5,000 short of their goal when their top pledge was withdrawn.
  21. Pirate RPG Raven's Cry set for release on May 7 From the developers of Two Worlds with some delightfully bumbled buzzwords.
  22. Spacebase DF-9 early access has already recouped Double Fine's initial $400k investment
  23. Lost internet and TV yesterday during the lovely mess in the Midwest and was confined to the house due to a state of emergency in town, so ended up hitting some of the single-player games I'd installed but never run. Tried RealMyst for nostalgia, but looks like I need to do a bit of tinkering to get it actually running. Played straight through To The Moon. Not ashamed to admit I teared up a bit; will definitely go for their next game. Played the start of Dust An Elysian Tail. Never really been into the genre before but it's beautifully crafted and enjoyable, even using a mouse and keyboard.
  24. You would be right. A quick relaunch is not a good indicator. They should have spent more time putting things together and improving their pitch, rather than just two weeks.
