  1. Oh? Then let's see if they explain how girls are as strong as the boys and a bunch of other things that don't conform to the real world... Souls. If warriors gain abilities(including physical ones) from the power of their souls, it stands to reason that power is unisex, unless specificaly stated that women souls are inferior in some way.(which i would love, the butthurt would be hilarious)
  2. Yes, this sounds perfect. Yes yes yes! Wait a minute... Eer... no thanks. I'll pass
  3. So people should pay 60$ for a demo? That's even worse. No one forces them to pay for beta testing the game. If they want to do it, it's their money, not yours. The whole gaming Industry is based on milking idiots, i don't see Early Access as something worse.
  4. That is how it is in the majority of Europe as far as i know. I'm from Europe, and i don't know many countries here that take legal action against someone because he is a bigot. Until we vote Bruce for EU president of cource.
  5. Well aside from judging the forum from one thread, insinuating a moderator is planning to or will persecute him and that there is indeed crude commentary in this place, I guess there is something refreshing there. *ahem* I judged it on at least two threads. (Actually more, but two that I actually paid attention to properly.) So there. (& there's definitely bigotry and crude commentary present as well as derogatory terminology being used in some instances. There's certainly also some backlash, but it's not universal. I mean, case in point: you have a thread about whether women [to identify a single frequently-disadvantaged group] in gaming are disrespected and whether steps should be taken to address that, and if so then what those should be.. yet people are attempting to argue that it isn't the case or the status quo is fine and things will just.. magically sort themselves out? Without any actual action or change?) Though if you'd rather weakly snark in my general direction instead of respond to points then that's your prerogative. I'm well-aware I was being argumentative and confrontational. That does tend to be the case when arguments are taking place. (Would you rather I treated you like a delicate flower? Some seem to be vehemently against anything like that.) As for moderators, well.. based on the available evidence at least one of them doesn't seem up to par. My experience has been that, given any authority, a significant proportion of people will tend to either be inept or corrupt. They're ineffectual or they're abusive. Varies in degree, but that does tend to be the case. (I'd welcome being proved wrong on that.) Good trolling though, perhaps Gfted1 will take the bait. Malc I have said this numerous times before but you must stop thinking people are trolling when they are actually engaging in an interesting or controversial debate Trolling is not an exchange of intelligent or different views but is done only to get a emotional reaction, this discussion is not about trolling in any respects But you are the one that assumed Bester was trolling. And you said that if he wasn't trolling, you don't care about his opinion. That's not engaging in an interesting or controversial debate. Shame on you Bruce.
  6. I love to read, but seriously, do you only want walls of text delivering you the narrative? I wouldn't have a problem even if we had walls of text delivering the COMBAT, with a static picture and walls of text describing every move and hit. But as Sensuki said the game will have around the same text as BG2, which wasn't too much realy, and didn't had "walls of text", so i don't see what the problem is.
  7. I liked them myself. But now (many playthroughs later) i just roll my eyes and wish them to end
  8. I wouldn't pay a single dollar as i have zero interest in "sandboxes" and Skyrim-ish gameplay is worse than watching paint dry.
  9. They should make them skipable after the first time. There is nothing more annoying than BG2's in game cutscenes and dream sequences after the second playthrough
  10. These are clearly offensive comments and inciting violence or at least hate towards gay people. Yet if I understand what you are saying the gay person has no legal recourse? that isn't what we said. review. we said no slander. we didn't speak to iied or privacy or other such stuff, in part 'cause facts is kinda shallow. now, in regards to your new questions, in the US if you can prove that the individual were attempting to incite direct and imminent lawless action and that such lawlessness were likely, the first amendment is gonna offer no protection, but again, is only in the case o' imminent violence or lawlessness. just a general hate-filled rant 'bout how all ________ should be "rounded up"? nope. sorry. keep in mind that the US is a revolutionary government. the founders were quite mindful o' the notion that if laws were enacted that chill debate or curb dissent, such laws could be used to stifle any unpopular or subversive speaker. yeah, nazis and gay-bashers is kinda contemptible, but those same laws that would be used to quiet nazis and gay-bashers today coulda' been used to silence civil rights speakers back in the 50s and 60s. btw, the American Revolution were never all that popular with the local populace... is not like we had a huge anti-English sentiment here even at the time o' the Boston Tea Party. heck, the tea tax actual resulted in lower tea costs-- folks being hurt most were smugglers, like John Han****. the Founders recognized the value o' allowing unpopular speakers to have a voice. so, let the gay basher rant and rail. "Those who won our independence by revolution were not cowards. They did not fear political change. They did not exalt order at the cost of liberty. To courageous, self-reliant men, with confidence in the power of free and fearless reasoning applied through the processes of popular government, no danger flowing from speech can be deemed clear and present, unless the incidence of the evil apprehended is so imminent that it may befall before there is opportunity for full discussion. If there be time to expose through discussion the falsehood and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence." J. Brandeis (Whitney v. California) HA! Good Fun! Okay thanks for explaining, you have answered most of my questions Not even in (most countries) Europe minorities have legal actions they can take for hate speach, unless harm in intended. Saying "women belong in the kitchen/ are useless outside bedroom" or "gays/trans are aberations" makes you an ****, not a criminal, unless they can prove you intend to harm someone. The only people that received backlash for rasist/sexist comments were athletes/celebrities/politicians where common opinion affects their job and they were forced by their teams/managers to publicly apologise. No Legal actions were taken.
  11. For me its no issue whatsoever if certain members on RPGCodex don't like these forums. I don't frequent that website because many members across as RPG elitists and they don't moderate or seem to care about bigotry or offensive comments around many social issues. Any website where people are allowed to make jokes about rape, for example, I have no time for Bruce, have you played Fallout 2? Just curious. Sadly I haven't played Fallout 1 or 2 Do it. They are worth it.

  13. Because many people hate it? It's not that it's inherently bad, just many people don't like action elements so they prefer RPGs without them.Simple as that. Others don't care or even prefer it.
  14. You didn't like their games =! the games suck. I don't liked the second one either, but i wouldn't say it sucked all around, or that they can't make good games. Just that their games aren't to my taste.
  15. Okay that does surprise me..are you sure about that? Yap. One of codex modarators is female, another is gay. Saying you are a woman or trans on the codex, you will (maybe) receive some "offensive" comments, but most posters won't care. Saying you like Mass Effect on the other hand...
  16. Given you've said you like Dragon Age, or implied it, when it really has no significant factor above any of these other things you mentioned, I find it hard to take you seriously. Hey, you go too far. As bad as Dragon Age has become, it's better than Elder Scrolls and Twilight at least.
  17. I generally don't research issues that I feel are absolute rubbish. But people can provide credible links that support the view that Twilight somehow supports abusive relationships and I'll read them Bruce, you know I'm fairly vocal around here in my support of feminism in general, so maybe you'll believe me when I say that Twilight's absolute garbage. Here's a fairly detailed analysis why. Okay I have only read this link and not Indira's, which I'll get to later, but this article is enough to completely put me off the books as offering any intrinsic value on any social issue For the record this very insightful and erudite analysis doesn't really say the books are about the abuse of women but it does the discuss the rampant objectification and gender stereotyping of women. How Bella is actually completely useless without Edward and she only really exists in the novels to embellish his personality. The books are a terrible example of educational and valid feminism and do more to enforce the subservient role that women need to have in some conservative cultures and groups. This is probably done unintentionally but the perception is still there I recommend everyone reads it, its long but worth it to gain the correct view on why Twilight is garbage. Last point and still relevant is Gaider didn't read the Twilight books because he wanted insight into gender equality. He wanted insight into why these books are so effective around Romance and also as a part of popular culture. I respect him for using multiple sources to attempt to find the right way to implement Romance in DA:I That was a quick change on opinion Bruce The point you miss (and feminism does in general) is that Twilight romance was so effective among teenage girls exactly because of this portrayal. The majority of women (especialy at these ages) actualy like to have a subservient role in their relationships. This isn't only in Twilight. Read True Blood or any other similar book. Most of the time the males are dominant in most aspects of the relationship. Or read paranormal romence or harlequin for adults. Same issue here. The males are always the dominating, badboy-playboy type that somehow is captured by the female protagonist. And then? He is loyal alright, but he is overprotective, he alwaystreats thae woman like a precious bubble and the woman is there just to support and love him(and to be resqued). In all of these cases is unintentional and not pushing a specific agenta. And yet they are always written for women and the target audience is women. How does this fits in your woldview Bruce? A friend of mine is married with an author of such books. One time she asked him if the man's reaction in one of her novels was realistic. (and believe me, if you wanted to search for sexist undertones in that particular scene, you would go crazy Bruce) And my friend laughed and said this wasn't how a man would react, this was how a woman wants a man to react. Food for thought.
  18. That's the problem. Not all the ingredients in coffe are actually healthy. At least as far as i know. If you know about some studies that suggest otherwise please share. The subject interests me
  19. caffeine pills work better than coffee though as far as health benefits go.
  20. BS. Wasteland 2 Early Access was at 60$ and still sold just fine. And that is a game more niche than PoE
