  2. Boot camp for the Navy is a joke. They are far more interesting in traing your mind over your body. I dont know the requirements now, but back in 1989 the final physical test was; 30 pushups, 60 situps (had 1 minute to do each) and run 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes. I mean, come on. It doesnt get easier then that!
  3. Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery @Calax: Thats a fantastic score. Ive know over the year several people that went through the nuke program and they are all really smart cookies. Think long and hard about that bonus, not all positions offer one and I think with that training you would be set for life when you got out. I almost wish I stayed in for the full tilt, I would have been retiring this year.
  4. And it usually also means the ship is carrying "special weapons". Sometimes you will see the Marines running through the halls fully geared out simulating an attack on the "special weapons". Get out of the way immediately or they will run you over. Lol. I preferred the Mojo. Amen brother! Our liberty was almost always in civvies but yes, drinking and dress whites dont mix. I cant remember how many I had to replace. The dress blues were no picnic either with all 20-something buttons on the pants.
  5. ^Also, doesnt Elminster come hunt you down to get Drizzits gear back?
  6. Congrats Calex! It will be very interesting. I had an unbelievable time in the Navy, got trained as an aircraft electrician and got money for college (which i never used ). It was totally worth it. Take every single program they offer you and if at all prossible push for a West coast deployment when you graduate "A" school (which did you choose BTW?). I say West coast because it is by far the better coast to be on for deployments. I was stationed on a carrier (CVN-65, CVN-72) and we got to do port stop all over the Pacific and South America. The biggest obstacle to being in the military is the "BS". Your ability to adapt to that is the single biggest factor for your happiness or misery. You have to be able to roll with the punches. A lesser factor is the isolation from your friends/family while deployed at sea for 6 months. Luckily for me, I joined at 18 so I didnt have a wife/kids/bills to worry about but I saw it destroy many a person. Regarding the war. War doesnt really exist for those in the Navy. During Gulf War I we just floated around launching bombers and fighters. There isnt anything to threaten our Navy out there so dont even sweat that part. Plus you will get: 1) Tax free pay, 2) Hazardous duty pay, 3) Free postage!
  7. Caving to thepixiesrock's disapproval, I looked up Machop. A muscular martial artist that can throw 100 adults! Sweet. *punches Nick_i_am in the junk again*
  8. ^We have one just outside the kitchen that isnt quite that sensitive, but its close. I joke with my wife that I know dinner is ready when it goes off. She doesnt see the humor in that.
  9. Groin punches. Rock on! *punches Nick_i_am in the junk*
  10. Very interesting question. Would I join a cause and risk life and limb over a general belief? No. Would I risk my life for my family or because my country told me to go hurl lead at bad guys? Yes. I guess, like others have said, I would need a personal attachment to the belief to risk my life vs risking my life for a concept.
  11. ^Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantonimo Bay.
  12. That's awsome. I thought it was particularly impressive, too. It's like a modern case of the Tortoise and the Hare. Go you underdog, go! Also, ion drives are bloody awesome looking. There is no massive rocket fire or afterburn, just a consistent, eerie, pale blue glow where the ions are emitted. Very futuristic-looking. That's for the ones that emit many ions at once of course. Im not sure why the article refers to this as recent, unless "one ion at a time" is new. IIRC, there is already an ion driven craft in space right now. EDIT: Yep, wiki has a long list of real world ion drives under the "Missions" subsection.
  13. AFAIK, they are not segregated in the U.S. penal system. Ive also heard, but have no proof, that the other prisoners look at them as scum and frequently enact "prison justice" upon them, which I dont have a problem with.
  14. ^Careful there Laozi. We start weeding out "undesirables" at birth and its not too long before only "perfect" people are allowed to be born.
  15. Lol, I realized the same thing when I made my list. I couldnt even pick 10 best! I dont have a lot of time for gaming so I like to focus my efforts on what I love (WoW) but its not like I havent bought new stuff either. Bought Arcanum but it came with two "Disk 2" so I couldnt even install. Played NWN2 until the bandit camp in chapter one before I ripped the CD out, defacated on it, then lit it ablaze. I dunno, Ive had some bad picks lately.
  16. Yeah, I was going to ask, why arent Steam games patch/modable? Isnt it the same thing you would get on CD only you download it instead? Why cant it be altered?
  17. Since he mentioned anomalies Im guesing its Stalker.
  18. ^Tasty and doubles as a laxative, SCORE!
  19. So, I looked up Vegemite. Tastes like beef bouillon (and looks like baby poo). Nasty.
  20. Vegemite is a spreadable topping for bread, sorta the same consistancy as margarine right? Whats the flavor of it? Some kind of vegetable like taste?
  21. No, its a euphemism for does the pubic hair color match the hair on the head color. EDIT: FYI, the "down below" color is always the same as the eyebrows color, unless either were dyed of course.
