Mmmm.... Mmmm.... I ate them... Not a clue, try reloading and redoing the mission.

I dont know myself since I didnt have a problem w/ KotOR 2. I simply posted anakinsolo's solution to solving the problems. I'm assuming that if Direct X 9.0C is installed, you don't need to reinstall it but I just copied what he said (after giving proper credit :D).

Mainly ATi users. I sympathize with them...

Now Im Just Pissed....time to return!
Darth Ni replied to Snibbles's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
We're not talking about something 'extra', we're talking about basic functionality which was promised when the game was bought. They said on the box it would work on ATI cards and it doesn't. [At least not without significant driver fussing]. We're not talking about a few select computers either, we're talking about (roughly) half of the computers out there. In the end, I think Obsidian will be lucky. The skill of their writers has made up for the incompetence of their developers, and I think once the poor ATI users get everything working they will be happy enough with the end result. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You have to place a lot of the blame on LucasArts and Mike Gallo since they rushed this game into release. -
I need some help deciding on video card issue.

An AGP slot is what you are referring to. I believe a Dimension 2400 has an Intel Celeron processor. It's not a bad processors it's just not meant for gaming. It's more of an entry level system but a 1.3 GHz Celeron or above should be able to run KotOR 2 just fine. I wouldn't really reccomend purchasing a Radeon 9100. A) It's already obsolete B) It will offer a decent improvement in performace but there are better cards out there If you don't want to buy a new system, I'd grab either a 9800Pro or a 6600GT. Both are pretty good cards and can run most games with a decent level of eye candy. You can purchase good Intel boards from Asus. In my opinion, they have the best motherboards in the world. If you are interested in buying a new Computer, I would reccomend an Athlon64 system. My specs would be something like : AMD 3000+ - 3500+ (If you don't want to spend too much) For higher end users, grab 3700+ - 4000+ If you want something even better, get an FX-53 or Fx-55 (be warned the price for the CPU is $1000) 1GB - 2GB of DDR 400 RAM ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe 80GB - 200GB Serial ATA Drive (depending on your needs) 1 nVidia GeForce 6800 or 6800 GT I would reccomend purchasing one 6800 GT now even though you can grab two. The reason is when the next series of cards comes out, you can grab another 6800 GT and it will offer a nice improvement in performance as opposed to blowing $450 and getting another card right now. Besides, a 6800 GT can run anything out there on max settings easily. EDIT : You can grab a 6600GT for around $200 at most computer stores. -

I doubt he'll make any Episode 7,8, or 9... Its possible that maybe Lucas will adopt the Yuuzhan Vong story as official.

Another Disatisified customer who needs help

It doesn't matter how 'fast' a card is, it has to do with hardware programing interupts and how the driver speaks to it. The 8500 doesn't have the same core as a 9200, to follow a 9600xt supports 2.1 shaders and other extensions in hardware, where the 9600 doesn't. Also to point out, hardware pipelining is diffrent on the series of cards. So is memory, etc, etc, etc... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The 9200 or the GeForce 4 Ti is reccomended not required... To run KotOR 2, you simply need a 32MB T&L capable card. -

Dude don't be a moron i was just trying to help people out. If i didn't say what i said the fix want work. Okay <{POST_SNAPBACK}> spoiler tag helps... [ spoiler] bla bla bla [/spoiler ] bla bla bla just delete the spaces. but MorganT5turbo does have a point. You shouldn't have opened the topic if you didn't want the game to be spoiled. -

This Game is unplayable w/ ATI cards

Well considering that the 5950 Ultra's fan is capable of exhausting a lot of heat, can definetly OC the 5950 Ultra way past the 9800XT's tolerable limits. Or atleast I hear... At idle, my 5950 runs at 35C Core When overclocked to 500/1.1, the Core is now at 40C idle Under full load, I go to 50-60C on overclock... Lets see a 9800XT try to beat that. Check out this review. AND YES I KNOW the 5950 Ultra absoultely BLOWS when running DX9 applications as can be seen from the 3DMark05 benchmark... -
I didn't have a problem on me laptop. my specs: P4 3.4GHZ EE 1.5GB DDR2 533 nVidia 6800 GO w/ DDR3 (later version thank god) Windows XP Pro SP2 60GB 7200RPM HDD

Your CD Drive you dolt ... Anyways I gather from ur post, the drive is not the problem. Disable all background services. Obsidian didn't account for all these problems so there are a LOT of clashes/conflicts between KotOR 2 and your other programs.
-
I don't like it since there is no actual ending to Star Wars. It just says that the Galactic Alliance relocated its capital to Denon and thats it. They should revise it so that A) The Yuuzhan Vong never existed, B) They came and were repulsed or C) They came and the galaxy was enslaved... I like a definitive conclusion.
-
Hardware... Check your drive and see if it works with other games. If it does, log out and log in with Administrator privelleges. Then check to ensure that no programs are running in the background (e.g. antivirus bla bla bla). Hope it works...

This Game is unplayable w/ ATI cards
Darth Ni replied to QuietDisdain's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The comparison between nVidia and ATI ATI Great Products Good Drivers (not w/ Linux and OS other than Windows) Weak marketing machine nVidia Good Products Great Drivers Amazing Marketing Machine Amazing Overclocking ability What I hate about ATI: The drivers What I hate about nVidia: Large cards suck up excessive amounts of power Dual Slot cooling solutions take up a PCI Slot Seriously, I have a 5950 Ultra and with an overclock, it performs better than the 9800XT on DirectX 8 applications. It is a huge card, its as large as the 6800 Ultra. That's just crazy... Atleast nVidia is making some improvements with the size. Their 6800/6800GT is a one slot card (thank god). The 6800 Ultra has a huge fan but the good thing is the level you can overclock the card to. I am running at 570/1.2 but my idle temps for the core are just about 50C. That's plain amazing. My 5950 Ultra 500/1.1 My 6800 Ultra 570/1.2 -
Disabling FSAA and Filtration?

Hmm.. my friend has a Ti 4200 and he tried running KotOR at 1024*768 and after a few minutes, it froze. There were no framerate drops and the game was running smoothly. The only thing is that he had an 866mhz processor. My guess is that the CPU was being put under heavy load so it had a problem with all those operations. We disabled frame buffer effects, and brought the resolution to 800*600 and there was no problem. Try the Forceware 67.66 drivers, they work best with kotor2 (as i learned from the great anakinsolo). If that doesn't solve the problem, maybe you should try getting some more RAM and running it then. If you are still having a problem, maybe you should just wait for the patch to come out. Hope it helped...

This may already be posted but if you have a 1/3 loading bug : Go to Windows\System32 Check if there is a driver WNASPI32.DLL This driver will cause a conflict and if it is in the system32 folder, it will cause a 1/3rd loading crash Make a back up copy of the driver and then delete it Also, this fixes most issues (courtesy of anakinsolo) if you have an nvidia card: EDIT : uninstall your current display driver, then restart go to this link : http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_download...p_2k_67.66.html 1) download the 67.66 forceware drivers 2) uninstall your current drivers via add/remove progs. 3) restart 4) install the DX9.0c via the apropriate k2CD (even if it's already installed do it again anyway, believe me) 5) Install the new drivers (67.66) [you may need to restart before this, depending on what the dx installer says] 6) restart

It works perfectly on my PC...
Darth Ni replied to AnakinSolo2002's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
nVidia drivers support all their cards. Just go to their site and download their latest drivers. -
I believe he means that the newer graphics architecture has a problem. The Ti4400 is not a new card (no offence) since its 2 generations below the current. He's trying to say the older generation of cards worked flawlessly.
