  4. I suspect that Vista will eventually be stable and be a worthy successor of XP - I just do not see it until at least a SP 1 - more likely SP 2. MS keeps adding code/hardware reqs that push the industry. The problem is that it is not necessarily needed. But a consumer paradigm does not often lead to efficiency ... :?
  5. Oh now you're talkin' crazy
  6. Withteeth - I am assuming you are looking at a desktop solution?
  7. I have already shared that I will not upgrade until SP1 at least with any MS OS. I also recommend this course of action to any of my clients as well. This article only reinforces my hesitation and confirms that in many ways XP is really a solid OS.
  8. Mustang you have stated your need. If someone is able to help you, I am sure they will contact you.

  12. I know it can be frustrating. This is really the most helpful route in my experience. Perhaps you could get a friend with high-speed to d/l the drivers and burn them for you? Perhaps contact Gateway directly and they may help with this too?
  13. DGwar - have you tried updating your drivers as suggested? As well, according to you system specs, you're running a tablet PC - is that correct? Another item, if you are running a tablet, there is a new BIOS (as of August) as well for the NX860X. That too would be of use. As Fenghuang and meta said, you need to d/l drivers and update them. This will help to troubleshoot. Addition: Do you have any conflicts in Device Manager?
  14. TGDaily I enjoyed this article on the acquisition. I found it challenging, but in the end I do not think if HP tries to keep VodooPC high-end that it will maintain its current clienetele. Dell and Alienware made sense, as Alienware was also about balancing quality and quantity. HP does not seem to have the love/hate relationship that Dell has. I do wonder if rebranding VodooPC to go head-head with Alienware is the ultimate goal ...

  16. Core 2 Duo currently holds the performance lead. AMD mobos may have a clearer upgrade route at the moment, but I do not thinks it is bravado to acknowledge the C2D performance crown.

  18. No I meant the notebook's LCD meta - not the external one.
  19. Thanks for the response legion. It'll be interesting to also here from meta on this. I do not plan on hooking up to my external except for gaming, but when I do it would be good to know if the heat will be an issue. I may call XPS support to know their thoughts, as I have heard they definitely know the system.
  20. The GPU makes sense - it often comes down to what you like/know. The good thing is there definite room to grow if you choose Diamond.
  21. This just occurred to me - no adverse effects to the LCD from heat coming up through the kb?
  22. Oh, I thought it was so full on account of how busy and full your day is The games, I assumed, were also not for 'fun' but a metric of reality that was and may be ...
  23. Thanks meta! Helpful to have some of my hopes/assumptions confirmed. I'll add a pic once everything is set-up.
  24. I'm wondering if we could have a more detailed hardware spec DGwar, if you are still having issues? Might help to ascertain heat/driver solutions.
