PCI-e cards are cheaper because the manufacturers wants you to buy a new motherboard, its really that simple. A 6800u should be great, it can run even cutting-edge games like Q4 with very high settings and still get a good framerate. And it supports ShaderModel 3.0

The Game development program in the Univerity of Gotland, Sweden. Its a three-year program with an option for a fourth year(I suppose you would call this post-graduate). It is considered the best of its kind in Sweden and you have to apply specially with work samples etc. we're the only one to have a proffessor and a professional MoCap studio. It offers a programming line and a graphics/art line, Im doing graphics/art. Both of these read the same Game Design classes. The purpouse is to make us ready to go directly into the gaming biz after school and many are now working for DiCe or Starbreeze(its not that popular to go abroad yet) The most recent celebrity lecturer was Stephan Lapinen, sales director for MS and former EA vice-president. And that is pretty much my point. The "box" for what you can do both technicly and designwise with console games varies from claustraophobic(Nintendo DS) to limiting(360). I dont like the idea of graduating from Game Dev University to make "timewasters" for the next-next generation of handhelds. I want to make real games for real hardware. And the game industry is bigger today because of the fact that more people play computer games, nothing else. Consoles used to completely dominate the market in the late 70's and 80s but the market was still smaller. Piracy was impossible or for a small elite and still the market was smaller.

Consoles are killing gaming, I refuse to purchase one. The PC game market is still dominating and it actually shows no signs of dying out if you are to believe our lecturers(I study game design at a really flashy Uni) I have heard that the PC version counted for 60% of K2 sales although that wasnt reliable information.

Burglary is theft, piracy is copyright infringement. No matter how you twist and turn it, you cannot escape that 1. The company still has the product, they lose nothing material. They still have X printed copies for ale on the shelf 2. What they lose is only potential sales in a very abstract sense that cannot be estimated.

If I made consoles Id see to it that youcould play the games on PC too, that way you can sell the exact same game to both the Comps&COnsolers and bring in the big $$$ But thus far, noone has even considered making a cross-platform console.
