Most people (including George Lucas) does not see Star Wars as fantasy. Star Wars has its share of absolute garbage too (KOToR fanfic writers anyone?) but its another rant for another day.

Stupid question #48 How the hell do I take screenshots? Printscreen doesnt work and the manual says didley squat about it. Its not listed in controls either.

Sweetness. We would need a hexgrid to handle combat if we did SPECIAL though, and the action points are a bit of a hassle.

I wanna play a Fallout scenario using GURPS! )

Does anyone know if increasing the "Speed" trait allows you to attack faster in melee? Or does it just allow you to run faster?

I saw Crash, the Oscar winner and I cant believe they chose this load of sentimental drivel over what the competition offered. Sure, it raises the usual old rascist question and I suppose thats good but it drenches it all in this hollywoodish, sweet, icky syrup of emotional lowkey music, people weeping and staring off into the distance.

I took one look at the magic system and went "Im not even going to poke that with a stick". I dont even know how to learn new spells.

To my dismay I have to say that Im having a lot of fun playing Oblivion, and if its still as fun when Ive come halfway through or so I think Im going to buy it. This is very strange since I cant stand Morrowind, and that took only an hour or two to realise. Ooh, goodie! I went back to the Priory and there it was. I think the manual for this game should have been twice as long so it could include useful info like that. If you hadnt told me, I would have been walking from town to town.

I just encountered a very annoying problem of sorts. My horse suddenly wouldnt stay put where I "parked" it as it should. After much messing around I found that strangely enough I had "Stolen Horses: 1" on my stats The game is a little random where it puts your horse when you enter a city. Once I found it standing on the bridge between the capital and the arcane university. Apparently the game put my horse somwhere else so I accidentally stole another horse thinking it was mine without me noticing a thing, no angry NPCs or anything. I could have been riding this stolen horse for days, my real horse could be anywhere by now! and since horses are more valuable than magical items, I cant afford to buy a new one.

It sounds like he wants to burn a DivX file onto a DVD and include the codec so that somehow the player can read the file. To my knowledge that is impossible, some players can play DivX because they have the coded integrated in the firmware and the only way to get it to play different formats requiring other codecs is to alter the firmware

I believe the educational editions of Maya and MAX are completely functional but stripped of a few advanced features like ragdoll. The trial version of Zbrush is gimped so it cant be used together(no importing meshes) with a program like MAX, making it useless for anything but playing around in, which is sort of the point of a trial version anyway.

A question, since the female PC is so horribly thin/bullimic/anorexic can she eat herself healthy again? A friend of mine had a theory that perhaps you could pull a Fable and eat her fat. I broke into a house and ate all their food but nothing happened. I find myself just clicking on him again and again to hear that sweet voice of his. My character is so going to marry him. They will all have scruffy-looking but still neatly trimmed beards.

A cheapshot argumet I used in a turnbased vs. realtime argument we had at Uni a while ago was "If youre so adamant that realtime doesnt take away strategy/tactics, have you tried playing chess in realtime?" And we tried that, it was very much like a typical RTS game where he who can spam the enemy with units the fastest wins. It didnt quite work IRL where you could move the pieces as fast as your hands could move but i think it could be done in a computer game.. it would suck, but it would be possible :D

Meet Bertie. Hes not quite finished* yet but he could never have been made using only MAX. * needs more work on the envelopes, the colour texture and I could have put him in a nicer pose but I just pulled a few bones and left it at that for show

No. More likely his video card is overheating. Specs? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes thats more likely given that he said he got some sort of bluescreen. Hes using an ASUS laptop with a Geforce 4200 to go. I cant determine the exact laptop model.

But since Star Wars is set in a future universe with high-tech robots, spaceships, aliens and lasers, its not Fantasy whichever way you want to twist it. The prime criteria for something to be classified as Fantasy is that it takes place in a sort of pseudo-medieval mythical fairytale world.

A friend of mine has discovered the first gamestopping bug. He can start the game, stand in the cell in the beginning for a minute or so and when the Emperor and guards come, Oblivion makes the computer reboot itself.

It took me just an hour of playing Morrowind to realise its major faults. Now Ive been playing Oblivion all evening and to my great surpise I find that I am enjoying it. I am however, getting exactly the same vibe I got off playing Gothic2 which wasa classic case of realising halfway through that youre actually wasting your time playing a rotten game. My only major complaint, and its no small one, is that combat is not fun. You dont have the fun tactical play of a real CRPG and you dont have the precise twitch gaming of a good FPS. What you have is a system thats all about buttonmashing by clicking like mad on the left and right mousebuttons until the enemy is dead. Its not fun, its not good, its just a boring grind.

Does Star Wars have: - Pesudomedieval setting? No. - Elves and orcs? No. - Dragons? No. Thus, Star Wars is not Fantasy in any real sense.

Im eating everything I kill... rats, goblins, zombies.. Im hoping something will happen soon.

And thats why I was never an active skiier even though I had a big skiresort just across the lake from where I grew up. A friend of mine did about the thing as you did and broke both his arms.

best moment of three hours playing Oblivion: I accidentally sold my pants to an inkeeper ) Yay!

Random first impressions: -Detailed facial building is nice but allows significantly less control than that of The Sims2 leading to much work to get a decent-looking character. The pregenretated faces are also very ugly. -Youre a prisoner and you begin in a dungeon, very TES -The jump animation for the PC is very stiff and doesnt change if youre moving or standing still -The mandatory grindable rats use a very peculiar jump/attack animation -The way the character holds a melee weapon is very awkward -Faces are horrible -The female PC is obviously suffering from anorexia/bullemia
