They probably realsie that pissing of China isnt really that smart even for a super power. One of the most interesting things about China is how one country can encompass so many time periods. It's almost like traveling in time. -

China is going to be interesting. They are getting a real taste for free market econemy now. And their "ruling class" is aging. China isnt really held in the same iron grip that it used to be so they have the potential to go anywhere. -

Exactly, you really have to know and actually give a toss about the people you are giving up your goodies for. It does work very well on a tribal level. -

Man does it because he thinks it's a ticket to the afterlife. You know, remember the crusades ? Anyone who died there was promised a fast track to heaven. Thats what those nutty suicide bombers get promised these days too. Along with 70 virgins or something like that. It was a recruiting slogan at one point during the crusades. " You may have lived for the devil, but you can die for the lord". Fear is a big motivator for most people and promising them happy ever after is a powerful tool of cooercian. A great way to keep control of people who are poor is to promise them that there really crap and very short life here, will lead to a better one in the next world. Of course there isnt really any proof that such a world exists, but poor people tend to be ill educated and easy to manipulate. No, nothing was forced on me, any more than it would be on a typical UK resident of my age. I opted out of Religious Studies and took half the class with me -

Wasnt it Marx who said "religion is the opiate of the people" ? -
Look on the brightside, at least they are not worshipping an anime character. She's pretty , but I tend toward the more exotic

If religion were and employee it would have been fired a long time ago for incompetance. Much of that violence and hatred is in fact a by product or a direct result of religion. -

Science has done more to solve them than religion has. The aids crisis in Africa, "sceience" could have addressed that (through condoms) but since there is a large catholic population and they dont do birth control its become a huge problem. If there is ever a cure for aids, well that you can thank science for it as you can for pretty much all the cures (even if the "science" was from observation such as herbal remedies). -

Well, is progress as a linear idea really suitable for application upon the real world? Even if it is, how is one to confirm that, for example, cloning (which I am not against, or for) is progress in the desirable direction, or not? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Never said it was. Thats part of the charm , you dont have to be right all the time, just right according to the evidence currently available. You cant have that with religion since to have faith you have to believe you are right 100%. I'm not opposed to people being against things like if someone found the idea of clone degredation, or clone rights a negative for cloning thats fine. However the idea that you cant do something because someone claims a possibly imaginary entity is against is a bit ridiculous. -

I dont think they will go above $399 but thats purely speculation on my part. I was just wondering what price the analyst had used to come up with the figure he did. -

PS3 costs scaring away developers?

Funny I don't think anyone has said that. If you want inovation, the only place your going to get it is Nintendo. Why the PS3 simple , it does everything the 360 can and a LOT more besides. Whether or not the 360 can match the PS3 graphically is meaningless (and it's debatable whether or not it will anyway). What you just said in a nutshell is the 360 is a Xbox graphic upgrade Again which console has shown the most improvement over the generation :D Years and years from now your still stuck with a DvD while the PS3 developers are making use of the full potential of Blu Ray. The whole development tools arguement dosnt hold much water either since the PS2 was known to be a pain to develop for, it still didnt stop developers developing for it. Reasoning and common sense work wonder here. Maybe you should try it sometime -
http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/produc...ht_ace_attorney You may recall me being bummed out that this wasnt getting a UK release (cheers NoM) however it looks like I jumped the gun since I found it on the lists. Likewise it looks like Lunar may also get a UK release (again NoM) since NoM is having a reveiw copy next month. nfortunately Lunar dosnt look to live up to it's rather illustrious name, but then again the DS isnt overflowing with RPGs either. But if you like adventure games, or investigative type games you will want Phoenix Wright (japanese version comes in English too nice touch much appreciated).

PS3 costs scaring away developers?
ShadowPaladin V1.0 replied to Epiphany's topic in Computer and Console
It's a fairly apt name all things considered. 360 is a funny name too since it's going around in a circle and ending up right back where you started. Perhaps MS have a sense of humour :D Well with the Xbox they tried the tech edge and still got beaten seriously by the PS2. Now they are trying the miminalistic edge in order to make some money. Therefore it's important to be on the scene before the PS3 comes along and people realise the mistake. One hopes it does bite them, because I'm a big fan of progress and not 5 years of stagnation. Well there was some talk about future 360's carrying HDDVD when it's ready. Two problems with this as I see it. HDDVD has pretty much missed the boat now since most if not all studios have embraced blu ray. Second and most important from gaming perspective, you cant play a DvD game on the HD player and vice versa. Which means that even if you had the HDDVD it could not be used for gaming purposes without screwing over everyone who bought a DVD 360.
