Just wondering what price is he using for the PS3 ? Since we already know the retail price of the 360, thats clear enough. But if he's actually using the same price for the PS3 I'd call that boardering on miraculous.

Sony make a lot of their own stuff which keeps the component cost down. One rather hopes that Sony wont be money grubbing and charge

Heres an interesting thought.Prior to John Snow cholera was through to be caused by bad air, everyone believed that, even the most eminent of scientists. Then Snow came along and proved that it was in the water. Once it was proven, people adapted. Likewise the first microscopes debunked many of the earlier theories. If science has one advantage,it's that it is always moving and adapting. Isnt one of the catch 22's of the bible "proof denies faith and without faith I am nothing" ? Now I don't care what you worship in your own home, you can worship pink elephants and goblins for all I care. However if something that could be a totally fake ideology starts to interfere with progress then it's time to re-evaluate. Holding back progress for something that could be the biggest hoax ever perpertrated on humanity , well not something I'd ever support. Socitey and religion are bound up from the earliest of times (it's a pretty recent thing that you have secular states) I'm CoE according to my birth certificate, I never had a choice in the matter until much later. Therefore unless society has moved on. Whatever religion it is based on will be seen running throughout it.

Don't see any women Bishops around do you ? Or any female Clerics for that matter. Therefore I wouldnt call that subjective in the slightest. Homosexuals, nope they are not overly fond of those in most cases, that seems pretty intolerant. Hurlshot did say major religions, so it's not really that broad a sweep if you think about.

Like I said , no reason to follow such a flawed being may as well follow myself since I have the flawed being thing down perfectly Just what is "good" anyway ?

You could at least get my name right This was a violent and harsh world from the outset long before religion was around. It's still a violent and harsh world even after a couple of millenia of various religions. Doubt ending religion will end the violence, but it would be a change of pace. People would need to come up with some other excuses to harsh on each other. You dont need religion to be a decent person you can teach morals without religion.Religion equally leads to intolerance and the objectification of women (or at least not treating them with equal respect) among other things.

Then we just get into total subjectivity. Procreation is certainly a need for the speices, but as a speices we dont really need sex (although I wonder what people would choose if given a no more sex or no more religion question). You read the sig translation I see.

Too some yes. I was never disputing that. Only that they are not universal needs. Which by definition makes them comforts, they make people feel better. Like the blanky example.

The not killing is a bit of a joke really isnt It ? I mean lets be honest. You can find those things in other places too. I dont see the big deal about the bible unless you buy into the whole thing, since if you dont buy into the whole thing then your obviously seeing it as imperfect anyway. There are few absolutes after all it really depends on the situation.

Thats not a need though since your applying it to a specific frame of mind. Where as the things I outlined as needs, you deprive anyone of those and the result is the same Ideologies can also be self destructive. Where as a person with that ideology (or having had it crushed) will self desctruct it would have no effect on anyone else. For example definitive proof there was no "god" would hardly bother me , except for a few I told you so's. For others it would destroy the very meaning of their existence.

Needs would be those things required for survival food and air are a need , so is water. If your not alive, then all those other questions, not that important.

Should that be can you be ? Seems to make more sense that way in relation to the other paragraph. I would define a need as something you couldnt exist without. Thus food - no food and you die.

Maybe it does, but everything needs to grow up and part of growing up is letting go of the blanky. Without religion it becomes a moot point since whether or not god exists no longer matters. The only point is the one create for yourself

Because without a god those religions cease to have power. Which would probably be a good thing all around. What is it exactly that you see by looking around that leads you to that conclusion ? For me it's a measure of time. Anything can occur given enough time and having made enough mistakes and learned from them (which is evolution in action on a basic level). If you subscribe to the biblical story for aging the earth, then yep when you look around it boarders on miraculous. However when you factor in the actual age, the number of false starts and the chain of events its just a series of chance which must inevitably come true given enough time.

True , then why should you believe that anyone is actually speaking for god ? If they are not, well then religion is a big hoax isnt it.

I think you will find a reason for that when your on the verge of some big discovery and you get people saying you cant play god, its likely to annoy you. After all unless you actually talk to god , all you really have to go on is a 2000 year old book which is not only extremely out of date for a realistic world view, but also far from infalliable given it's copying by various people and into various languages.

Not really I waver between aetheist and agnostic so I dont really fit your description at all. There may be evidence for some sort of divine being, but an all powerful all knowing one ? Dont see much evidence for that do you ?

I wouldnt classify that as faith any more than I would classify laws as faith.
