  1. Okay, so it was just a poor or incomplete response from the developer than.
  2. It comes with difficulty, or on expert mode, can't remember. That's not what the developer said. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm simply not sure.
  3. I think you just got lucky. I've had items disappear without ever saving my game, at all. Sometimes all it takes is walking from Dyrford into the inn for items to vanish.
  4. Also, did you catch the comment made about death in the video? Apparently OE has "softened" the impact of death to the point that when you die, you get up immediately after combat with some sort of impediment. OE was pretty vocal about the importance of death in this game. Now it sounds like they've removed it? Or maybe the guy talking just doesn't know what he's talking about?
  5. At this point you can support via pre-ordering, when that is made available in the not so distant future. Basic gameplay will feel similar to the Infinity Engine games in many respects (e.g. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2 and Planescape Torment). Don't believe you will be flying in this game. The biggest enemy we've seen so far is an Ogre, and he was pretty big. Obsidian hasn't revealed much game content outside of what is included in the backer beta.
  6. Mixing eggnog and motor oil is actually not bad. Creates a beverage that will really put some hair on your chest.
  7. Actually she would most likely been absolute fine even if she hadn't rest even single time, but they wanted to show rest mechanic and make sure that they don't replicate their demo from gamescom. The fighter has abilities that make it a better tank that she was pretty much ignoring, so she could have done better. As for resting, Adam also rested several times in the Gamescom demos, I think at the exact same places actually. So this really was a replication of the Gamescom demo, with the notable difference of a druid having been played rather than a paladin (though still a fire godlike).
  8. Well, Brandon Adler did post an announcement yesterday. Not sure if it had anything to do with my request, but I'm happy to have at least gotten something. Next week, likely.
  9. You can't avoid/talk your way out of all the combat - it will be combat heavy - lots of mandatory combat - you just won't get xp for the combat so you'll still have to do the quests. Hoping so. Seems like you can pretty much get through the beta without combat, which is definitely setting a tone that I'm growing disturbed by.
  10. The more I think about the quest only xp mechanic, the more bummed I'm becoming about it. I'm envisioning being able to play the game in such a way that my equipment doesn't matter, because I won't ever have to use it. Where having a party won't matter, because I just need a single character to talk my way through the game. Where combat doesn't matter, because I can get the exact same rewards by playing as a diplomat and stealthing my way past the situations I can't talk my way out of. One of the pillars of the I.E experience is real time with pause? But does that even matter if you can get through the game without combat? We've still got the isometric game and the story, but that third pillar, seems to have been neutered. And that gives me serious cause to be bummed. It's feeling like we've ended up pretty far afield from the I.E. experience. I hope I'm wrong, and that the final game will feature combat much more prominently. But based on what I've heard from the devs, that's simply not looking likely.
  11. The game is fundamentally broken currently. Only play if you are *really* determined.
  12. Thanks Brandon for the update.
  13. Then maybe people should've informed themselves about what betas are, before paying the money to take part in one. I fully blame the customer's idiocy for this. I knew very well what I was getting into and everybody else could've, too. Idiocy? A little hostile there, aren't we? A lot of the backers received the beta because they backed a tier that included it, close to two years ago. So they didn't necessarily "pay money to take part in one". They paid money to obtain a certain tier and a large variety of rewards that happened to include access to a backer beta. If you were truly expecting tens of thousands of people to go out and educate themselves of beta testing, its significance and what sort of experience they are likely to have as a beta tester, well, that is just rather deluded.
  14. Couldn't we have one discussion topic and one poll? The poll displays opinions in a much more measurable way. And what's more, the link you put in the poll points to the thread that you merge out of existence.
  15. I'll just have to wait and see. I'm hearing plenty of great music for the game so far, so I guess that it's not imperative that my favorite tune be the one playing when I launch the game.
  16. The "No" option is just that. You will never see any ammunition in the game. For a lot of people (myself included), this feels like an unnecessary streamlining for a game that is supposed to be descended from the Infinity Engine games, but a lot of people want this so it needed to be in the poll. The unlimited stack option is completely different. With this option, if you have no ammunition you can not fire your weapon (unless it's a special, magically created weapon that provided unlimited ammo). To fire, you need ammo, but with this option if you have 1 mundane arrow or 1,000 mundane arrows, you don't need more than a single inventory slot to store them. This option is similar to a lot of the "Ease of Use" player made modifications that exist for the Infinity Engine games.
  17. i talk about the theme at the start screen but dunno if everyone else talks about the same. That's correct, the main theme is what plays over the start menu. The character gen music is placeholder, and currently uses Dyrford's music. Thanks for the clarification. I think I had totally glossed over that tune until now -- heard it, but not noticed it. I have launched the bb just to the start menu today and have been listening to the main theme for a few minutes. It's an okay song overall, but I don't personally feel that it's distinctive enough for the honor being called the main theme. There were a lot of other tunes released since the Kickstarter campaign that I feel are far more worthy of this honor. The current theme sounds like something that should be included for another small village or town like Dyrford. The Project Eternity Prelude that the KS launched with is around 100% more worthy in my opinion. Or the Road to Eternity would be a mesmerizing tune to hear when launching the game. Sorry for being critical on this one, but I did want to share my thoughts.
  18. Note that if mundane ammo is included, different types of arrows (e.g. bodkin) can also be included in the game. Magical arrows can refer to any of the following (and plenty more): Arrows that hit harder than normal Arrows that are poisoned Arrows that add elemental damage Arrows that cause a fiery explosion Arrows that dispel magical effects Etc.
  19. Poll - Do you want arrows/ammunition in PoE?
  20. Thanks. Obviously I hadn't seen that yet.
  21. We are nearly to the end of the second "business week" since the backer beta. It's been good to get our hands on the game, though some of the more critical bugs have made it difficult to provide feedback on the game elements requested in KS update 84. Nonetheless, many backers have pushed through, myself included, in an effort to see what PoE has become and provide our feedback. I think it's now time to look to next steps. It would be absolutely fantastic if you could share an anticipated release timeframe for the impending patch. Bonus points awarded if you can communicate a few of the key bugs that will be addressed. Disappearing equipment, disappearing quests and characters getting stuck in place are the most devastating bugs in my opinion. Any chance we will see some or most of those squashed soon? How about any refinements to the combat system, which seems to be in a pretty raw state at this point. I would greatly appreciate if someone from OE who is in the know could spend 5 - 10 minutes to offer a reply. Not looking for you to sign in blood or anything. Just would be nice to know your ballpark expectations. Looking forward to the patch, and seeing what improvements it will offer!
  22. Who loves PS:T? For my part, I do. I wasn't twelve when it was released. I was just starting my career after college. Best RPG of all time? For me that's Baldur's Gate. But PS:T is a close second. In fact, I have a 3 day weekend coming up and I'm seriously considering playing it for like the 7th or 8th time. No desire to touch PoE BB again until it gets a SERIOUS patch.
  23. Right, you would be a one shot wonder like this. One shot per combat, which would make it not so overpowered. It would be more about a particular character having some serious style.
  24. Abso-freaking-lutely this should be a feature of the game!
