  1. They'll be offering preorders soon. No more beta access though. The crowd funding phase is what recently ended, as OE needs to start planning to deliver all of the physical gods.
  2. The benefits of attributes need to be less esoteric. I don't put points into Resolve because I simply am not certain, exactly, what it's doing for me. In D&D it was very clear what benefit of raising an ability was, and what the tradeoffs were to raise a different one instead. INT increases the length of abilities and size of AoE? Does that really matter? And to which classes? Hell if I know. Let's dump that one too. Might, Con and Dex, okay, those all seem reasonable. Let's max those for every character and leave the scraps for the other attributes.
  3. Glad to hear you're getting further with the game Adventurer! By the way, did I catch an "eighter" in there?
  4. Yeah, I'm just surprised that he was talking like 33% PoE, 66% 4E. Reference 4E if you need to, but why not circle that quickly back to PoE? Not a big deal. Just found it a bit curious.
  5. I thought I took out all the remaining Bhaalspawn. I may have to descend from my Throne of Blood to clean up a straggler. How terribly annoying.
  6. It seemed like Josh was talking more about 4E than PoE. I found that a touch bizarre, a touch disturbing.
  7. Laughed out loud.
  8. Nice, Australian White Trash!
  9. I have worked a lot with British (mostly English) and Australian companies, so I really have no excuse for getting that wrong. I clearly wasn't paying close attention to the accent.
  10. Ah, I guess he's an Aussie. Well, that's a former British colony, so it sort of still applies.
  11. How in the hells did I get on that list! And I am employed! Good thing I'm taking the family on a road trip today.
  12. It's good to see Josh's thoughts here, and a confirmation that the AI/encounters need work in order to incentive ranged characters to wear armor. That said, when I look at the current state of the beta, then I look at my calendar to see how little time there is between now and the end of Winter 2014, I'm expecting that a lot of problems we're seeing here will persist beyond the game's release. It's going to take a lot of patches, a lot of iteration and polish and I simply don't see that getting done in the next 3 months, alongside everything else that's yet to be done. So my expectation is that naked archers will be a thing for a while to come yet.
  13. Well, he is a Witcher, after all. And a crazy Brit. It's a good combo.
  14. Josh's response to naked ranged characters. Adding here for posterity: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/68374-josh-sawyer-on-the-naked-ranged-characters-issue/
  15. We get to have "the devil" as a companion in PoE? I didn't see that coming, but as long as he has good stats who am I to complain.
  16. Thank you Kaz. Your whining is muchly appreciated!
  17. Wasn't aware of the armor with limited wish slowing characters down. That very much sounds like an exception. The dwarf moving 20 feet even with heavy armor or while encumbered was a 3rd edition pen and paper D&D rule.
  18. wat Only plate armors, and both had meaninglessly low thresholds considering the type of characters that usually wore them. It's absurd to suggest that AD&D armor was more complex than PoE's system. Yes, start BGEE put heavy armor on one guy and no armor on another, they guy without armor will move a bit faster. Or maybe the bad pathfinding made me think so :D Maybe someone can confirm I wasn't daydreaming. As for Strenght... Viconia anyone? In my BG2 game I made a Cleric/Mage and didn't put enough Strength and cannot use better shields. In BG, BG2 and the EEs armor does not affect movement speed. Encumbrance does, so if that armor causes a character to become encumbered, than sure, their movement will slow down. Otherwise the armor system in BG really is nothing more than AC value, weight and class restrictions.
  19. Are you talking about Pillars of Eternity? There is some text on the save that says "new game save" and that's where I would expect to enter my save game name. But when I click on it it just saves my game. You have a method for this, please do share it. Ill take a look in a few hours when I get home from work, and perhaps it changed in V2 (haven't tried V2 yet), but I remember it being pretty standard. Choose save, click in the save name field, type whatever you like. Oh, are you referring to Quicksave (F5)? Nope. If we had to name our quicksaves than by definition they wouldn't be quicksaves anymore.

  21. It's sad when people can't distinguish between people sharing their opinions on a topic they care about, and whining. Thus far this has been one of the more respectful, productive discussions on these forums, and I would appreciate people not trolling to make it otherwise.
  22. Okay, got it. Still think it's a good idea to have these reported separately in the event that they aren't caused by exactly the same bug.
  23. That seems to be related to a different, but probably related issue. I've seen that one as well, where there's a shield in the middle of the floor. The issue I'm reporting relates to a shield being perpetually under my main character's feet. It moves with him. So a bit different.
